Being able to watch/highlight unpublished vods
In this most recent age the unpublish feature is really helpful but in order to clip, highlight and even watch the VOD you have to publish it first. Which defeats the purpose

Certainly, this would be very helpful. Please push this through. Thank you.

This is really inconvenient. I want to stay and use twitch program but am forced to export to a safer editor program.

Thanks Carl 🐺
At the very least the could give us a Reason why we shouldnt be allowed to do it, or why they can't easily do it right away. It seems so obvious and essential! -

Bumping this because this is absolutely required for any rhythm game streamers.

Please implement this, several times I have accidentally said phone numbers and such on stream or info that I'd really not want the public to know, and immediately go to unpublish. But then I can't highlight it, and have to republish it and positionally risk that info being seen. I don't like that, as someone else here said that's a major security concern, and it would be a major improvement if we could edit unpublished Vods

It's so annoying to publish, highlight then unpublish again PLEASE implement this!

being able to clip parts of my unpublished videos would be awesome ! i dont want to publish hours of the stream, I would rather post highlights and have someone want to come into the live stream to see the rest

I have a 6 hour VOD - during that VOD I accidentally doxxed myself, showing private information. I unpublish the VOD so that people can't see it or clip me, but now I can't highlight the rest of my VOD without putting the video up and allowing a window where I could be doxxed over a short window. Therefore this is a security concern, and quite important.

My channel was switched to unpublishing VODs by default because of copyrighted music detected. The email I received said "your default stream settings were updated to store new VODs in an unpublished state for your review first." How am I supposed to review it or edit it without publishing it?

Disappointed to see this request is already more than year old. Kind of surprised a multi-billion dollar company can't do something seemingly so simple.

Problem:
When a VOD gets unpublished, the ability to make highlights gets disabled. Why do we need it?
Maybe in a stream something got leaked, lets say a phone number. This is like a 10 second part from your 10 hour VOD. And for this you have to disable your whole VOD and you cant make a highlight from it.
(There is a workaround that consists of re-publishing your VOD while you make the highlight. (And this is a potential issue, cause during this anyone else can also see your VOD)Solution:
Editors+ should be able to make highlights from the unpublished VODs. -

Yes, I agree. Nobody is going to watch 6-8 hours of me playing a past game. They watch live and highlights. So I disabled automated publishing and was just going with highlights and clips. Mistake, first I couldn't add a marker via my stream deck any longer. Also, there is no highlight option for the previous stream. I haven't attempted to publish it then make a highlight of something interesting yet. So I am guessing just do it the old way then unpublish the long stream nobody will go back to watch.

Really need this to happen ASAP. I suspect in the mean time you can "publish, highlight, and then un-publish again. Silly tho.

This is urgent and absolutely necessary for me as a musician on Twitch.
WHY CAN'T WE HIGHLIGHT UNPUBLISHED VODs?
It's ridiculous to say musicians can perform cover songs but then immediately have to UNPUBLISH the VOD or risk DMCA strikes. This makes ZERO sense!
Easy fix!!! Simply allow us to highlight UNPUBLISHED VODs.
Thanks Twitch!

Unpublished VODs are currently entirely unusable. I am not able to watch them, put them into the highlight editor, or even download them.
If a VOD has to be unpublished, because something got leaked during it, it is impossible to remove that part of the VOD with the highlight editor UNLESS you re-publish the VOD and let everyone else watch the leak.
Please let us edit VODs while they're unpublished.
