normalize Ad volume with content volume
Not as frequently as before but still often, Ads play which are dramatically louder than the broadcast content. This is an annoyance, interferes with other people in the house, and frankly makes me more likely to mute the ad and go do something in a different tab.
Normalizing volume levels with stream average volume or peak volume wouldn't take a huge amount of processing power and would fix the problem entirely. It's required by the US's FCC in other broadcast mediums, but it's really just a quality of life improvement for the viewers and a mark of good production.
A majority of ads on web and TV apps should now have normalized sound. We are still continuing the work on this and will update the status again when it is fully complete!

All ads to me ignore the actual volume of the stream, if I have the stream really low, the ad will be much louder, if I have the stream maxed, the ad will be a little softer. Still needs work

I think this actually works now to some extent. I went to a new stream, ad started on low volume, went to next stream and ad was a bit louder. might still be problematic, but at least not inside one stream. you could for example add volume because you can't hear the ad and next one comes out louds as heck after you jump to next stream.

And as an afterthough, i'm not watching anymore. There are a lot of ads coming on now so its like waiting for your ears to be destroyed and very annoying. Cant watch while doing anything else. need more people on the team to resolve this, i like watching streams

Seen some progress, but recently seems like the volume is bouncing up again. too loud, I have to mute it if Im playing another game, but even with it MUTED, the commercial's volume comes on and its very loud. Should penalize advertisers if they set their volume so loud, ridiculous, this isn't a television set with people sitting around eating popcorn waiting for jonny carson to come on.

When turning the volume down on ads (which is required when twitch ad volume is always louder than the content), every new ad in the string of 7 ads you decide to play raises in volume. I can have an ad on 5% volume but as soon as a new one plays, it raises to 50% without adjusting the slider. I've turned it down for a reason, and have closed twitch an insane amount of times for both ad volumes and ad quantity. You're driving away your content creators with the new sub payout structures and you're driving away viewers with your ridiculous ad practices. This ship is sinking.

This is still an ongoing problem. A recent Monster ad just about deafened me. It was at least 400% the volume that I find acceptable.

This is still definitely an issue. I don't have the option to mute ads on phone and they deafen me if i have headphones. I dont mind watching ads, but this is pushing me to get an ad block on my phone. It is literally hurting my ears when I have headphones on.

It says the audio is normalized with the content but that is absolutely not the case. At 20% volume the ad is playing at over 100% of what my computer would allow the content to play at. Who's bright idea was it to tune the ad audio to 500%? Change it quick before you damage more people's ears. If it happens again to me again I refuse to spend any more time on this platform outright.

It's like the "partial release" resolution is to fix one ad and call it a day.
I literally report the same ads over and over again across multiple channels. I'm beginning to think that this suggestion has fallen by the wayside since it's been over 2 years since that response was left and no one is going to bother fixing ad volumes.

This is ******* ********, after one more year from my first comment the ads volume is still bugged. You can ******* check it, if you have a volume at 1% on your stream, when the ads pop up it will be reproduced at 50% ******* volume MAKING IT EARRAPING do you ******* understand it? If you have your volume slider at 1, and try to increase the volume IT WILL ACTUALLY LOWER IT BECAUSE IT IS REPRODUCING AT A FIXED 50% SLIDER VOLUME INSTEAD OF ACTUALLY SETTING ITS VOLUME TO MATCH THE STREAM SLIDER VOLUME. THIS IS ******** DEVELOPING AND I'LL ******* SUE YOU SOON

This is still a huge problem. I can't reliably keep streams on without sudden blast of bass and volume from these obnoxious ads that I don't buy the products from anyway. And I can't even get Turbo because Twitch is the only site that won't process my card and I'm not setting up a whole other account just for this site.

I experienced this a while back and it was either fixed or less noticeable in recent months. Unfortunately this has now it's become an issue again. Whenever I get these loud ads I immediately mute or abandon the site/close browser tab.

This is absolutely still a massive issue. How has this not been addressed. I have to put the volume at around 10% the stream volume. Even the ads themselves vary WILDLY in their volume.

I dont care if this has been written 1000 times before. The volume on ads is still too loud compared to stream.

I've been noticing several gambling ads rolling with excessively loud volume here. mostly for palmerbet and tab. Loud to the point that the neighbours dogs two doors down have gone nuts over. I don't even listen to music that loud :/

In the past week 10/24/22, the ads have been nice in terms of volume level. Seems like when live, it works good and on replays (safari) it mutes, but at least the ad plays. Before it would freeze and you would have to reload and end up just not watching because if you cant get past the ad, you can't watch. But just wanted to say I see improvement. Anyone else?

esth_er commented
The loudness of the ads can lead to hearing damage. Considering the amount of young viewers this should really be fixed asap!

Ads used to follow the volume control you have set with Twitch, max volume watching twitch = Max Volume ad. Half volume Twitch = Half Volume Ad. RECENTLY (October 2022) now when ads start, they are ALL at MAX Volume regardless of where the volume slider is on the Twitch.tv page in the browser. You can move the slider and it will fix that single instance of ad, but the next ad that starts is at MAX VOLUME again. This needs to be fixed and wasn't a problem before.
