VIEWERS need to still be able to interact with the STREAMER during the ad process, and the STREAMER needs to control how that looks. If interaction breaks, momentum dies. There are dozens of ways to keep the momentum flowing while an ad is playing-- just look at all of the YouTubers who get sponsored and do skits/product placement during their videos.
Example: If the streamer has the ability to temporarily defer ads and play them back to back, ("collecting" an ad every 15 mins or so, to play 6 at the end of 1.5 hours,) this gives the streamer more control on when their intended content is interrupted-- or, even better, an option to play the ads FIRST in order to unlock SUBSTANTIAL ad-free…

Minimum payouts for ad hour targets If you guys used the same logic for bounty board on ads you could have a much easier time getting us to run them. I used to make hundreds a month in 2011 from ads and now despite growing etc etc I only push viewers away spamming them for MAYBE a few bucks if I'm lucky.
Myself and many others would likely be more happy to run ads if we had a target goal of "ad hours per month" that based on our viewership could fluctuate but would generally give us a target.
Example: Currently I stream 5ish hours a…

Active No advertisements for active chatters.
I think that when a streamer rolls an add or the auto rolling adverts pop up it can massively drive viewers and people invested in conversation away from the channel and forum.
A simple fix would be to not roll adverts to those actively chatting in the stream.
Say a 5 minute timer from last recieved message then roll an ad to that user and maximum of 1 ad to said user per user. Or a quick pop up box like the channel points warning users an advert is 30 seconds from rolling. Click on…

Discoverability through Ads If you want people to run ads, give them a reason to WANT to run ads. The hardest thing to do on Twitch is get discovered. Allow people to be higher up, or at the top of, a directory for a certain amount of time whenever they run an ad on their stream. Cap it out so you can't do it all day.
People will run ads for discoverability AND they'll have a chance to grow.

Select Add Type. Instead of pre-roll, mid-roll, or whatever adds, add a feature where the user can choose if they prefer adds right when they join the stream, throughout the stream, or after the stream(and before watching anything else).

Ads solution!!! We know ads suck but it's what allows free content..so the problem is that it's always the wrong time for ads, Especially when its down to the end of the game and we miss the Fing last battle because some ad pops up. How about a button that you can click when your streamer is in cue or going to the bathroom etc, and it runs the ads? yes it will still run ads as normal, however, if you are due for and ad to run in the next ten minutes, by clicking the ad button, it will skip the…

Allow interactive playable-ads in pre-roll ads and in-stream ad breaks So just like Facebook and WeChat allow a preview of games and ads that involve interactivity, perhaps Twitch can include support for playable ads in pre-roll ads or in-stream ad breaks.
Here is an example of what I am talking about provided by Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/business/m/one-sheeters/playable-ads
I have listed down all the benefits of including playable ads in Twitch on this shared Google doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1T2iNVrNcf8Dz8l09f0eiIEt0dMMLb9ggaiU-OqIOP7M/edit#
I am working on a project with a non-profit but we chose NOT to put our marketing on Twitch because they don't offer playable ads (unless they do and you can let me know) which previews…

i think that you should be able to time ads I think content creators should be able automatically run ads every 15 mins or however often and how long for so there is less need to have your stream manager open

Allow Skippable Ads Most of ads should be skippable. Your site is a live streaming platform, you cannot force people to watch ads while they were watching something else that they will completely miss because of ads. Same concept goes for the first AD you are forced to watch as soon as you open one live stream. If im forced to watch something without any possibility to skip unless i close the whole page, i will 100% start hating on the promoted product just beause it is disturbing my plans.
Also giving people the possibility to spam as many ads as they want,…581 votes -
Celebrate and gamify watching ads instead of forcing users and driving them away Celebrate watching ads and provide value for the viewer and the streamer instead of regulary interrupting the consumers experience with unwanted content.
How? Here is an idea:
Twitch already had the "Watch ads for bits" function - but it currently is quite hidden in the "get bits section". What if instead of a forced full screen ad for x amounts of seconds twitch provides "watch this ad for bits" button on screen. It should appear at random times during streams or if the streamer triggers it manually.
There some ways to incooperate this feature with the current twitch flow: Streamer can…

ADs should only be on VODs ADS should not be on live streams, only on VODs!
From my understanding ADS on live will give you one of the following drawbacks, If an AD plays for 10 seconds:
you will be sent back to the current moment the stream is at thus losing 10 seconds of the live stream and what happened in that meantime be it a answer to your message, some epic moment or anything in between.
you will be 10 seconds behind with the live stream, meaning you are also 10 seconds behind interacting with the streamer
Thus I am requesting the ADs to…

As per GDPR, personalized ads are supposed to be OPT-IN, not OPT-OUT. Every time I log in to my account, I am greeted with a possibiltiy to manage personalized ads, and it looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/8HUIhPP.png
By default, everything should be off unless I explicitly state I allow gathering my data.

Add 'delay' option for when ads pop up at critical moments I understand that ads are necessary to support twitch and streamers, and while I don't like it, I can deal with it. But one thing is SUPER annoying - when an ad pops up right when something exciting is happening/about to happen and everyone misses the action. At least TV ads have the courtesy to play during breaks - imagine if an ad came on while the super bowl-winning touchdown pass was in the air!
If we can't outright remove or skip ads (understandable), how about having a simple button pop up in a corner of the stream when an…

Make a button to watch an ad vs forcing one at start of stream or randomly. Rather than constantly shoving ads down everyone’s throat how about instead when you join a stream there is a button that shows 1 que’d ad and then it has a time limit before it must be watched say 30 minutes or something. This way the VIEWER can pick a relatively slow point in the stream to view it rather than missing out on important parts of the stream or conversation. This would at least be better than the current method of shoveling ad after ad in our faces and stupid random times that do nothing but piss off me and…

Less Irritating/Annoying Ad Distribution I know that twitch has been looking into ways to get around AdBlock and whatnot to ensure that ads get played, but: Consider less intrusive/annoying/irritating advertising. The majority of people are using AdBlock because they find ads annoying. You know, that stereotype CONGRATS YOU'VE WON A FREE PRIZE!!! flashing ad kind of thing?
If you were to make twitch advertising less intrusive, I believe it would help. Twitch ads already aren't that bad, but they could be improved in a number of possible ways:
Make the advertisement only hijack the video feed, not the audio. With the advertisements jumping…

normalize Ad volume with content volume Not as frequently as before but still often, Ads play which are dramatically louder than the broadcast content. This is an annoyance, interferes with other people in the house, and frankly makes me more likely to mute the ad and go do something in a different tab.
Normalizing volume levels with stream average volume or peak volume wouldn't take a huge amount of processing power and would fix the problem entirely. It's required by the US's FCC in other broadcast mediums, but it's really just a quality of life improvement for the viewers and a mark of good production.
2,747 votesA majority of ads on web and TV apps should now have normalized sound. We are still continuing the work on this and will update the status again when it is fully complete!

Video quality option for ads It is somewhat annoying to sit through a buffering high quality ad for a minute before returning to the stream.

Ad-free experience for all viewers I would like to see a subscription to make a channel ad-free for all viewers, not just people with accounts, subscribers, followers or anything, I know turbo exists, but that's only for the person broadcasting that goes and watches someone else's channel. What about the opposite, what if a broadcaster wants the viewers to have an ad-free experience?
