How it works:
  • Choose a relevant category for your idea and check to see if any other users have already submitted this suggestion before creating your own
  • Be clear with your suggestion, provide examples and solutions to the problem you are posing. Suggestions without actionable feedback may be closed without comment
  • Upvote existing ideas, as opposed to creating multiple similar requests
  • Be sure to share your suggestion with others to gain more support!
  • Note: Suggestions are not guarantees that we will take action on an idea. We will try our best to communicate why an idea may not work, but may not always be able to share that information.
  • Titles that are unclear or unnecessarily vulgar may be reworded to better reflect the request for ease of discovery

  1. You can do this in VODs, why not while live? Many times a user simply made a mistake and didn't realize the full rules. I don't want to remove all context of our conversation because they put a word in a message they didn't realize was banned.

Also it's confusing for new mods to time-out instead of deleting an offending message.

  2. Occasionally, streamers accidentally leave their streams on with a hot mic and even cam. During this, streamers can unintentionally reveal embarrassing and inappropriate things on-air without their knowledge with mods only being able to host another streamer as their only tool to stop the damage. Unfortunately, those watching outside their browser can be unaffected by hosting and still be watching the stream. I think these incidents can remedied and prevented by giving mods a sort of "Emergency Brake" to stop the stream. I believe this function should be optional for safety reasons so that the streamer can decide for themselves…

  3. I believe a feature in one's settings that makes it so moderators of the channel can't moderate without having Two Factor Authentification activated would be super useful, with this new optional settings it could dramatically decrease the amount of compromised moderator accounts while also raising more awareness for 2FA

  4. Turbo users were given options to hide their turbo badges. Why not moderators who voluntarily invest their time & energy to grow communities? That way streamers have options to fight mod-wall effect and see if chat participation improves. Just having that option is really reassuring and helpful for many communities. Currently some moderators would lurk or go through the hassle of logging into another alt-account to chat. Some streamers even have to awkwardly unmod people and mod when needed.

  5. I mod for team Tempo Storm. Every streamer is added to the Tempo Storm community which we use to promote who is online in our website or through apps or bots on discord/curse. My role is to ensure every team member, no matter which game they are playing, is doing well and chat is behaving. This is sometimes hard to do if the streamer hasn't met me through the team contacts, or some other reason. These streamers may be hesitant to mod me or others like me in the same role.

So my suggestion is to add a community based…

  7. In the sense of IRC's +m channel mode, only moderators and higher would be allowed to speak.

    Useful for:

    Announcements
    Aiding in spam cleanup
    Crowd Control

This, I think, would be essential to mods of event streams, and other high traffic channels.

  8. Allow broadcasters to ip ban viewers from their stream & no longer watch there stream. Also an option for broadcasters to set this permission for moderators if they are comfortable.

  9. Replicate the "Blocked List" commonly used by Twitter. This can be implemented by modifying how the banned button works. Here is a simplified breakdown:

    1. Upgrade banned button to not instantly ban, but bring up a radial list with reason for banning. This would cut down on accidental mod missclick and add more weight to banning. Reasons can be something like "Racist/Homophobic remarks, Threating, or Other with a text box."

    2. Log the number of bans per option with account. After 3x strikes user is added to a list associated with the banned reason and notified via email. Notification is important so…

  10. Basically I want to be able to display specific streams that I mod for on my profile. I'd like it so we can select what ones we want to display.

  11. There is a checkbox in "Channel & Videos" tab of your channel settings, called "Opt out of globally banned words filter".

I had it enabled since I started streaming a month ago. And today I discovered, that it does not work - some words, like "tranny" for example, are still replaces with asterisks to everyone else in chat. I was disappointed.

I despise any form of censorship. When I come to other streams and I see their chat rules "Be nice, no spam..." - I respect the rules. Its their choice. Why can't Twitch respect my own choice to treat…

  12. Rather than removing emotes, create a chat filter that checks
emote tags. When approving emotes, apply rating tag to emotes that could be considered "sexual/explicit", these would be filtered out in channels that haven't enabled the 18+ notification.

  13. This is similar to the idea of banning abusive troll users at a certain IP address, https://twitch.uservoice.com/forums/310201-chat-messaging/suggestions/7956255-ip-ban-from-channel.

In that request, a Twitch dev gave the following reasons for why such a ban would be hard to implement:

    1. IPs change. A lot. A broadcaster might lose a significant portion of their audience, and viewers might get confused if there are a lot of banned IPs (such as universities).

    2. System load. Looking up a enormous list of IPs to see who is allowed to watch on every single video play is an enormous system load I’m not sure we’re willing to…

  14. It is a common occurrence for moderators to judge transgressions differently from each other, or from the broadcaster, and apply different timeout lengths. I feel moderators could benefit from having the timeout duration for the specified user not overridden by subsequent timeouts, but rather have a notice given to the mods specifying the remaining timeout for that person.

  15. Harassment can be a problem for some streamers on twitch. A user will come into chat and cause trouble for the broadcaster / other chatters. He might get banned, but nothing is stopping him from creating a new account and re-enterring the chat to continue causing problems. Even if the chat requires a verified email, it is easy for a troll to return. If there was on option for streamers to prevent accounts under a certain age from chatting (say, 1 or 2 days), this would make it a lot harder for people to continue trolling after getting banned. Legitimate…

  16. This might be something rather cool if you implement moderators for a specific game category. To clarify, users who have been watching a specific game for quite a while will be given moderator privileges to help with smaller channels. Of coarse, this privilege could be removed if users abuse this power and the channel broadcaster still has the option to ban them from their channel. Just a suggestion I think would be pretty neat, feel free to post any thoughts about this! :)

  17. I was looking into the Automod settings on the Creator Dashboard and noticed the various automod categories that are there already. While I think these are very important to have, I would also like to see a misandrist category there as well.

I feel that having both the Misandrist and Misogyny are important to have for the safety of all streamers / content creators on the platform.
