Please DON'T implement the Highlight storage limit!
Please do not go ahead with the Highlight storage limit. (https://x.com/TwitchSupport/status/1892277199497043994?t=WHF3xmUvvGdAMyI6CGdgoQ&s=19)
Dungeons and Dragons channels and other tabletop creators use Highlights to tell a story, while removing BRB breaks and other non-essential moments. These Highlights are pivotal to their lore and story! These streams are usually 4+ hours long with multiple seasons, adding up to 100+ extremely quickly.
Speed runners use Highlights to show off their best runs, and often have many over multiple years. Theres historic channels that are no longer active, where people can watch past content and reminisce on a time they may have missed.
Twitch Partners (like me), who spent so much time and energy getting to where they are. Enjoy having their journey avaiable for people to watch. For new community members, but also for potential gigs and sponsorships. Our Highlights are often tailored as a "CV", showing our past moments. All on the platform we stream on! Cherring picking these to just 100 hours is impossible.
Highlights may not be used by many, and most may not go over that 0.5%. However, the ones who do count on those Highlights and care about them deeply.
Please consider haulting this change, or at the very least exempting Partners and/or accounrs that haven't been active for some time. Some Creators are no longer with us, their accounts a testament to their time on Twitch and their lives, with no one available to log in and choose what is purged.
Please don't take away our history, or make it a panic for us to move everyrthing. There's no mass highlight removal/export function.

Please do not implement a storage limit for highlights, as it may restrict usability and reduce flexibility for users who rely on saving and organizing important content https://cabletiesmanufacturer.com/stainless-steel-cable-ties/. Removing or avoiding such limitations ensures that users can store as many highlights as needed without worrying about space constraints or losing valuable information.

You should have made a 1 click button what to allow everyone to download all of their highlights. Also one to be able to upload all of them to something like YouTube. Or to pay to have them downloaded onto an external drive. Just something. Also downloading the chat archives from the VOD is so important for us too.
One person that I'm going to be sad to see all theirs disappear is @Hitch. He's been here forever and has so so many hours of content. Days and Days of it. Your deleting of them down to 100 hours is like erasing part of history.

Well. Good to see staff has been so responsive and supportive the whole time this one was up. Way to listen to the user base who built your platform for you in the first place. Why do you even have a user voice board, anyway?
Between that and throwing LGBTQ+ folks under the bus, it's clear whom this site wants to focus on and it's clear that's not us. Have fun paving over entire communities' histories in search of those sweet sanitized sponsor dollars, I guess, but count us out. People like us know when we're not wanted.

I'm nowhere near the 100 hours limit but I'm voting for this because I'm sick of Twitch nickel and diming us on nearly every single thing in return for half my income. Twitch is far and away the most expensive service I use in terms of money paid every month, not even including the subscriptions I have to creators on Twitch, and the feature set just keeps getting smaller and smaller while you tinker around the periphery with useless stuff nobody asked for.
Twitch is owned by the world's biggest cloud provider. You can't convince me they're crying out for hard drive space.

Been on this site since 2013. man where does 12 years go? been speedrunning for a majority of my years on twitch. and to have my over 800+ hours of highlights i deleted in a panic BECAUSE OF YOUR CHANGE! makes me feel like i wasted an entire decade and not having anything to remember. once all that stuff is gone.
Speedrunners the very people that put your site on the map you are basicly throwing them in the garbage like a plastic wrapper to your money filled candy bars.
I HAVE NEVER FELT SO BETRAYED and felt like i wasted a decade of my life
i did enjoy your platform but i think this permanently stops me from using your website EVER AGAIN!
not only that your TOS is beyond questionable and i feel afraid to be myself on here due to your highly strict rules.
I hope this should be a sign to boycott this platform enitrely and go somewhere else.
I SAY DO NOT GIVE ANYONE MONEY on this website. twitch clearly doesn't care about anyone or anybody here except for the top 1-5% that rank in all the money for them. this is absolutely despicable!!
100 Hours that's only enough to fill a small plastic bag!
Will NEVER USE THIS WEBSITE EVER AGAIN! hopefully everyone else march out too. i get it back up your stuff. but at least give us more then 60 days well 55 left now! give us like uh the tools and 2-3 years maybe??? to properly archive our stuff so we can take our data elsewhere.
i doubt tom or anyone at the top is reading this or cares.
and if they are this change will not only hurt twitch it'd possibly be a domino effect for other streaming and videos sharing services world wide
the sheer amount of volume of exports and archival of shoved at google is gonna be monstrous and possibly other websites too. could possibly destroy free video sharing for everyone.
twitch clearly doesn't care about anything or anyone.
as long as their people at the top get their bonus you all make me absolutely sick! tossing all of the speedrunners who Made your platform what it is today is REALLY REALLY SAD!i really genuinely felt i wasted 10 years of my life and i'm torn how i feel about it.

The highlights storage limit is a terrible idea! I mostly highlight my streams so that they don't get deleted. But after hearing this, I'm really upset because now there's no point in saving streams as highlights if there's gonna be a limit to them.
Highlights are meant to be archives of moments that have happened in the stream, aside from clips. So if you ever wanna relive the moment, you would go back to that highlight and watch it again. Now years worth of highlights that streamers have made will be gone forever since it would exceed the storage limit. And for speedrunners, this would hurt them. Because their WR videos will possibly be gone forever!
I mean I'd be okay with exporting the highlights to my VOD channel on YouTube before they get removed, but still! Twitch has made a seriously bad move here! If they wanna avoid putting the platform in flames even more, they need to NOT do this since it would cause a lot of permanent damage!
Do better.

I may not have a ton of skin in this game as I don't regularly stream, but even I know something so short notice like this is bad form, and is all but guaranteed to drive your users to other platforms if allowed to happen.

Whether it be video game archives, older stuff, or just funny moments in general, your removing moments that made streamers day. Also, you are going to push people away from your service by implementing this limit. In addition, there is no way under 0.5% of streamers exceed the 100 hour limit. A lot of streamers are for sure over that limit, with some exceeding well over 1000 hours of streaming, and some being near 10,000 hours. On top of that, deleting VODs without the streamers consent is outright dumb. Implementing this change will make the platform worse for everyone who uses it, as it becomes harder for many to trust Twitch with archiving their VODs. If this is implemented, not only will you push streamers to other platform, but it will cause the loss of many archived videos, and cause permanent damage.

My main problem with this change is that Twitch's tools are not up to the task for exporting everything in a timely fashion. I've wittled down my 10 years' worth of highlights to everything I want to keep and it's still going to take 40 days to get it exported, with YouTube's upload limits to consider. There are a few I can't export as they're over 12 hours, so I'm going to have to find a way to handle that. Luckily for me in general the 40 days is within the timeframe, but there are other creators where doing so is going to take considerably longer than the deadline. 100 hours is also ridiculously small. My average stream is 11 hours. You can do the maths on what that ultimately permits.

Years of history shouldn't have to be deleted because you can't spend precious pennies on some hard drives. 2 months is way too little notice for such a drastic change, and only a 100 hour limit? Normal people are going over that in a month. It's laughable.

Speedrunners will suffer SO much from this. It will be extremely detrimental for the whole environment. We gotta make a move! Twitch really appears to be actively trying to move people away from their platform.

A subscription service would have been a better implementation. Pay x amount for x amount of storage.

Please don't make this change, this negatively affects many streamers who rely on VODs, especially long form content. Twitch users who have passed away cannot move their content elsewhere and it will be lost permanently.

Twitch your failure once again to give the people that pay your bills a valid notice period & functional tools before enacting changes that can cause them an unlimited number of hours of work under stressful and panicked pressure cannot go unchallenged.
You are neglecting and punishing the most loyal users of your platform.
Why? Because live content is your monetised platform, not storage with few views and no monetisation. From a business perspective your are right that this is a cost cutting exercise. But the amount you will save is not going to save or improve your business - and the effects here are DIRECTLY pushing people to utilise a competitors platform who manage their storage better.Should you still not value the loss leader that is cold unmonetised storage, alternative options are out there - such as charging per 1000h storage for active accounts, and leaving inactive accounts to rest in peace as noone is able to export them.
Do better, Twitch. While you still have the support of your core user base.

-the massive uncompensated workload requested from tens of thousands of streams with NO NOTICE is absurd.
-the sudden restriction to not let us make highlights until said workload has been handled in asinine.
-auto deleting VODS from inactive or deceased channels is disrespectful and disgusting.
-the speedrunning community, popularized largely from this platform, will greatly be erased from history with no remorse and no options for, again, inactive accounts.
-countless chat experiences will be lost for channels that don't have chats on screen. (There are ways to download chats but then that requires tremendous work to edit thousands of hours of chats on screen and re-render them to re-upload on another site. Just an unrealistic amount of work)
-the 0.5% metric is absolutely inflated from channels that don't stream regularly, or as their job. I dare Twitch to show us the percentage of partners, or even just specifically affiliates, impacted by this. -

Being new to streaming, I find this extremely demoralizing and seeing other streamers with highlights, saved streams from all social media platforms expressing how they have collectively 1000's hours of amazing, funny, touching moments. Having a restriction of this magnitude is terribly disrespectful to all content creators and what they have done for this platform. So please, don't go through with implementing this storage limit.

I've spent years streaming on this platform and when saving the past broadcasts were no longer permanent and were on a timer highlighting the streams and editing them down a bit were the only way to preserve those vods for playthroughs, good game night, and other stuff was nice. The fact if it is ONLY 100 hours just feels completely cheap and overkill. If it was at least 1000 hours it wouldn't be nearly as much of an issue.
But as a streaming with over 5000 hours of content many of which was fond memories and good times having to delete most of those vods while also trying to export some before the deadline has made things more tedious, stressful, and infuriating that it should be. Please don't do this or if your going through with it then make it 1000 hours rather then 100

While smaller content creators like myself are not in as much danger as much as so many other large streamers of losing years of content, the highlight limit is a horrible idea as so many of us now have to try and rush to place our vods, possibly clips, and so many other things elsewhere.
While there might be a worry of storage issues, there are better ways than forcing content creators to remove/lose so many hours of things they have done with their communities, the stories they have built, and the friends and families stories they have made with so many others.
