Stop banning innocent users who barely use their account for "botting or automated account"
There are numerous users out there who have been away from Twitch for various reasons, like busy working, on holiday, forgetting their account, etc. who then return to Twitch only to discover their account has been banned for "botting or automated account".
Case and point: my boyfriend, who was banned by twitch on Jan 29 2023 for botting [which he's never ever done], unbanned, and then banned again Feb 13 for the exact same reason. They're also MY ONLY MOD, so by banning them, you've effectively made my stream more vulnerable.
Put yourselves in their shoes. What if you were away to make food and come back to see a ban for botting? What if you had to work in a stressful environment day in day out, and then return to twitch after a while to see you've been banned? What about the streamers who rely on these users to be mods?
Meanwhile, there are users out there who are clearly botting, embedding their stream onto other sites to artificially inflate their viewcount to get higher spots on the discover page, and they don't get banned, they don't get told not to do it, or anything. not even a slap on the wrist.
YOUR OWN EMAILS STATE THAT "If you are not responsible for botting, Twitch will not take action against you." WHICH IS A COMPLETE LIE.

I can also add to this reasoning because my friend has been banned from twitch today (Aug 25, 2024) for this exact same reason. I have been on about every one of his streams and not once seen him botting and he also sent me his entire transaction history on his card to show there are no botting purchases. So I just want to put this out there. Twitch is by far the worst streaming platform ever. Even kick is better and it's not even that good.

This has happened to me! I am currently dealing with being indefinitely suspended after having done literally nothing; I lurked in a stream for a bit on August 5, logged out at about ten to 1 eastern, and ten minutes later I was banned! And there's never anyone you can complain to, you have to wait for appeals to get around to it, cuz support isn't involved! I had to make a second account just to be able to hope that someone will see this. I rely on my streaming for financial aspects, and without it I am going to suffer, my son is going to suffer, and Twitch doesn't have anyone that can correct this without us waiting who knows how long for appeals to get to us. And they didn't actually even tell me why! I never got an email!
Twitch needs to stop using this clearly unreliable algorithm to attack this problem; it's hitting innocent people often enough that this thread remains active with people suffering the exact same issue. I had 700 followers and a growing community, not huge numbers but good enough to make me happy, and now I am stuck with nothing and having to wait for someone to maybe, if ever, restore my account, ConstantineDTW. -

Hackers can send spam messages from your account to others, and you don’t even notice it!
Be sure to check the "connections" section in the settings, the password is strong, and DO NOT neglect the 2FA Authenticator!!! -

This just happened to me today. I just finished a 5 hour stream and I got the notification that my account was "botted or automated account" No clue how that's possible. I love streaming but I cant anymore until the issue is resolved. I had to make another account to send this too!

Yesterday, July 15, 2024, absolutely the same thing happened to me - for unreasonable reasons I was given a permanent account ban. I'm a streamer and I have a modest audience, this is my only source of income and what gives me the meaning of life.
I'm a Russian speaking streamer "Ravenyan", the only bots in the chat were from StreamerLabs and Tangia, and my second account on the phone where I read the comment, from which I am writing now. I blocked all the other bots that were sitting in the background.
I have already filed an appeal, but I don’t know how soon they will answer me and whether they will answer positively about unbanning. Because of this I am under a lot of stress, it’s all unfair. -

well, back in june 3 2024. i was about to watch a stream, i open up my twitch app on my phone and, my account got banned/suspended, i checked my email and yep... the reason is: the infamous Botted or Automated Account. note that i never got warning of suspension nor a outright suspension, i clipped a lot of stuff and named majority of the clips, and i even got some badges. i sent an appeal and thankfully, twitch unbanned my account recently(as i writing this on june 12 2024). the appeal email mention something interesting: "Upon further review, it appears that this suspension was the result of your account displaying activity associated with compromised accounts. This compromise may have been caused by activities that took place away from our website and typically occur through a variety of methods.". anyway, it frustrating that my account got banned randomly. all i say is: twitch need to overhaul their enforcement system so there less innocents account getting banned, and to double check everything about this account before pulling the ban hammer trigger.

This happened to me as well, June 11th. I've been a Twitch user ever since as far back as 2013 (I think); have been Affiliate for many years as well. Been moderating other people's chats. Have a very small but loving community around me. Never received any penalty prior to this nonsense. There's even past broadcasts saved on my channel that clearly show my face - yet somehow I'm a "bot"? This is just absolutely ridiculous. I wanted to stream today... guess I can scratch that off my calendar now. From what I've read online, it can take anywhere between a few days and a few MONTHS for them to react to the appeal (that is, if they even do that at all). I'm furious beyond anything. If this was, by itself, an "automated" ban - you see the irony there? - then their system desperately needs an overhaul asap. And if someone (falsely) reported me, then how is this even allowed to begin with?! They should be suspended instead for abuse of the report system.

This just happened too me? I streamed for a year and have been using the account for 6-7 years, now it has all been banned? For what? I have 2fa enabled so I have not been hacked and I certainly Do not waste my time or resources sending bulk spam messages, this is a joke. my account name is iamchadd_ I am sad that it may be gone forever :(

True got banned too for no reason .... wanted to appeal but i need to login with my account havent changed my phonenumber .. ok fine search for my old phone ... found it... logged in .... verificationcode doesnt arrive... ok try sending message again..... "there was a problem" tried again .... same thing again... and again and again.... after 5 minutes "you sent to many requests" still no code another 20 min later i got one code 12 times... suprise... doesnt work.... now how am i supposed to appeal the ban?

Friend/Mod just got banned today out of nowhere... he literally just streamed a day ago too. Gets like no viewers and streams for fun occasionally like in what was is he a bot and he had no offenses prior but an "INDEFINITE BAN" is kinda ******** too. He literally has twitch prime and everything.
This has been an issue for years twitch and you let "big" streamers that blatantly are botting get away with it??
