Abusing the popularity of Just Chatting hurts Food and Drink
Keep cooking streams out of Just Chatting. It hurts the food and drink community if people can see cooking in a different category. Games are kept out of Just Chatting, so should cooking food focused streams.

If there's a category for it, Use It: Please. Thank You !

Just Chatting should only be for streamers to do just that-chat with viewers. Or it can be used for when a streamer wants to pause either during game play, before starting another level or game to chat with viewers. When chatting, the streamer should change to that category, not stay in whatever game category they are presently in. But the time spent chatting during these pauses should be limited since they are playing a game.

It's super disheartening to see partnered and affiliate streamers take advantage of JC just to increase their viewer numbers. I think that each person should be held accountable for their stream content and choose the correct category for said content, and not doing so should result in reprecussions. Twitch has categories to keep things organized, and the actions of those that decide to hang in just chatting while taking viewers out of categories such as Food and Drink is super shady.

I agree wholeheartedly. Cars can go fast and nobody that likes the color green should have to wear a sweater if they don't want to. I found a rock once.

Something worth noting is that Just Chatting is a way bigger category than Food and Drink. Looking at the comparison right now, Food and Drink has 15.2k viewers, and Just Chatting has 272k viewers. JC is a much larger community. It's definitely not fair if Just Chatting is poaching viewers from Food and Drink. Stay in your lane, Just Chatting, and keep the categories relevant.

Some streamers livelihood depends on these category being efficient. I feel this is not a small issue, people who use food in just chatting to gain attention are taking attention from food and drink streams that stay in their proper category. If i can see a cake decorated while scrolling just chatting why would I ever visit food and drink. On the other side, how does a just chatting person feel when they are following the TOS but a baker is streaming yummy food and grabbing all their just chatting viewers. It is hard to compete with food. Seems kinda unfair? Would love to hear more comments and ideas.

I felt conflicted by this. I've heard other larger streamers saying they are on Just Chatting to spread the reach of Food & Drink, which I had accepted.
People browsing Just Chatting are looking for... well chatting. Which they can get in Food & Drink right? But these viewers have a primary interest in chatting, but may not have an actual interest in Food & Drink and therefore never browse F&D.
Also, there are viewers that would be into F&D but without browsing the category will never know.
And so, I think the hope of cooking streamers on Just Chatting is that they will find viewers that primarily hang out on Just Chatting but will learn that they can get a Just Chatting like fix AND scratch their cooking interest itch. Ultimately I think the number of these viewers are low and will be greatly outpaced by the natural increase of F&D viewers.
If F&D viewers are at a significantly increasing vector, which I think it is, it would be better to showcase all the F&D streamers on the F&D category.
So yah, I change my mind and signed. Thx @SophiaTheHobbit !

Yes, I agree why would people go to the food and drink section if everyone can get what they need on Just Chatting. What are the just chatting guidelines? Who enforces the proper category usage? What happens to people abusing the system to get views? Doesn't this hurt view counts of the streamers on food and drink who are following the rules?
