IGDB

How it works:
  • Choose a relevant category for your idea and check to see if any other users have already submitted this suggestion before creating your own
  • Be clear with your suggestion, provide examples and solutions to the problem you are posing. Suggestions without actionable feedback may be closed without comment
  • Upvote existing ideas, as opposed to creating multiple similar requests
  • Be sure to share your suggestion with others to gain more support!
  • Note: Suggestions are not guarantees that we will take action on an idea. We will try our best to communicate why an idea may not work, but may not always be able to share that information.
  • Titles that are unclear or unnecessarily vulgar may be reworded to better reflect the request for ease of discovery

  1. The TI-84 Graphing calculator can play certain video games and some made exclusive for it. I don't see why it couldn't be on IGDB.

  2. This might sound redundant, but perhaps is would be beneficial to make the Status of a entries "Released" or "In-development" instead of leaving it blank for this development state.

It appears rather common people confuse the terms of Alpha, Beta. etc. for something they need to fill out without understanding what those states are, marking a fully released title as an "Alpha", or leaving a title in perpetual "Early Access" after the full release. Contrary to all other data points of an entry, this is the only one it's encouraged to be left blank, while new users feel compelled to…

Hey! This is not a bad idea, however it is going to be a bit hard to do that with our current set up for statuses. We are worried that it might cause confusion for some contributors that are working on games or adding games that are between stages where "in development" and "released" won't apply. So we would need to think about how to expand this feature carefully before taking action. We will investigate further on this topic. Thanks!

  3. Besides the confusion with genres and themes (and things being really blanket), it would be great if people upvote or downvote genres to video games instead of how it is currently, where users can add whatever genres/tags they want with moderation, which leads to Steam/IGDB tags that don't really help for having users find similar games.

  4. In lists, I see that you can export those lists into csv files. However, when I go to view them, they don't have the user's personal rating, which I feel like is an important data point if someone wants to see their lists.

Essentially, this request is for a new column alongside the average user rating called "Personal Rating".

If no personal rating exists, it can either be 0 or empty.

Thank you for all your hard work!

  5. Adding filter options to lists would be great. For example, if I want to filter a list to check only a specific genre, series or franchise, for example.

  6. It would be the desireable behaviour from a database like this to treat equally to all the information but in this case Unreal Engine seems to be in privilegie in Twich and here appearing as "a person" and also a engine, a game itself and everywhere else... Not the same case as the others.

In this case Godot Engine is a game itself done with itself... Yeah Godot is a "game" done in Godot Engine... It would be seen as Core in UE (wich is also there in the list, surprise)

It would be good for equality that all users…

    Hello!

Sorry not sure i fully grasp the issue at hand. Currently Twitch does not ingest game engine data from IGDB. So if there is a tag existing for UE that isn’t coming from IGDB.

As a database we do indeed try to be as neutral as possible, and all the engine data we have connected to games get the same treatment in the form of a discovery profile page.
Here’s the one for Godot Engine: https://www.igdb.com/game_engines/godot-engine

If you have more info on it please feel free to contribute to it, as all of IGDB is user contributable :)

    Thanks!

  7. Hello

I noticed that there are so many Minecraft categories but none from the Minecraft Bedrock edition.

In general, this is my suggestion. An extra category for the Minecraft Bedrock edition. I'm from the Minecraft Bedfrock edition scene and because there is no category for which many of my colleagues stream Minecraft Bedrock edition only on YouTube and not on Twitch. It is even often said that the Minecraft Bedrock edition would not be wanted on Twitch and something like that. And I think something should change so that another community can find its place on Twitch.

    Hi!

Could you give us more information what you mean in this case? By status do you mean adding a new one along side Alpha, Beta, Early Access, Cancelled etc..?

If so how would you define Dropped, it sounds like it would be similar to cancelled, as in the development has been in definitely put on hold.

    Thanks!

  10. I have been a huge fan of your site and contributed with game additions. The prospect of having a fully functional and well supported IMDB for games was such a great idea. Unfortunately, since Twitch took over the platform, everything has come to a halt and It seems like Twitch only bought the site and it's userbase and never had any intend of developing the site further. Apps are no longer worked on, the site is buggy and you cannot even maintain a wishlist without any technical issues. It's a shame really to see this potential and love of every…

Heya! Thank you for the honest feedback, it does mean a lot and we totally understand such frustrations. I can add some context on where IGDB is at the moment, but first i can say that it is absolutely still our plan to return to the website development and just like you the team is very eager to improve on the potential it has :)

An acquisition is a complex matter from an engineering perspective, from months prior the public announcement we had set deadlines to migrate infrastructure, services, security systems etc.. to align with our new teams. That took significant time and effort, during which we had to put development of the website on hold beyond basic maintenance (unfortunately). Once done we decided to focus on growth of our core product as a database. Which is why the main product updates we made have been around our contributing users,…

  12. Hi, our game is called Crown and is registered in IGDB. Seems like name is duplicated because there was a game with the same name in 1990. There is two games with the name (Crown) on the list when you configure your stream, but our image don't appear and seems like the old crown appears twice cause our tags are #strategy and both names appears with the tag #arcade. Really thank for your time.

The profile that registered the game was xSansa (my personal profile, this is the account of the organization)

    Hey!
Yes good suggestion! We do have plans for revisiting our Lust feature, including the default lists. We can definitely take this in consideration once we return to this.

    Thanks!

  14. As it stands, there is a lot of confusion and mixed up data between Collections and Franchises, all relating to the series in which a game belongs. Some games will be within a collection without a franchise, while other series titles such as "Legend of Zelda" has 2 different database ID's for its collection and its franchise.

Because of these differences, it's hard to utilise the series distinction in searches, as it might be in one category or the other, or both. If both are merged, there would be a more consistent way of determining a "series", with many games…

  16. This feels topical...

So, when an entry/game submission or edit is rejected and discarded, it's kind of all-or-nothing. If one major thing is wrong with the edit, often the entire submission has to be rejected, just for practical reasons.

It might be beneficial if Admins had the option to select sections of a submission to reject, like Title renames, content deletion, or bad cover art changes while the rest can be approved without the entire entry to be resubmitted..

That is absolutely correct, and the right way to have in the long term.
It is however a very complex and time consuming engineering project, and has been postponed due to priority and need to have basis.

That we’ll eventually tackle it is likely, but not in the near future.

  18. It would be great if the API returned which company worked on which platform, for example Company A worked on platforms X, Y and Company B on platform Z. This information is visible on the edit page on IGDB, but not via the API (should presumably be included in the "involved companies" endpoint).

    Hi!

We looked into this and we thought that indeed adding Gamejolt might be a good fit. This has been added to our backlog and we’ll take a look at it when we can.

    Thank you for the suggestion!

  20. Just a button on IGDB to go to a random game in the database. Maybe you can set a date frame or different filters to it but in general a button to show a random game would be awesome.

    Hey!

This is a good suggestion thank you! This has been discussed a couple of times in the past. We can’t promise any ETA on such a feature but it would be interesting to investigate.

Our main concerns so far would be what can be included is random: should it have filters, should it be games on all platforms or only selected ones, all age ratings etc..

If you have more ideas or specifics that always helps, we’ll leave this ticket open meanwhile!
    Thank you!
