  1. The EAN on the back of packages are a unique way to identify different versions of games. This could help to find details about a game and revision.

  2. When using a reference ID field, such as requesting https://api.igdb.com/v4/games/ where release_dates.platform [48,49,6]; as shown in an example in the API docs, the API returns a syntax error "You are trying to compare and exact array with an non array field: platform". This seems to be true of any field which is a reference ID when using this syntax. the array OR syntax (48,49,6) works fine.

  3. This goes slightly with the request for alternate cover options for titles, it would be helpful if various regional titles displayed beneath the main page titles, rather than a small subtext at the bottom of the page.

    Example:
    Title: Fatal Frame (NA)
    Subtitle: Also known as: 零 (Zero - JP), Project Zero (EU)

  4. Some lesser played games don't have an icon, a streamer should be able to submit an icon to Twitch after streaming the game for a certain amount of time.

    Hey there!
    By icons, do you mean the (game) box arts/covers?

    If so, we have plans to improve coverage of those on Twitch via IGDB covers, but also eventually help streamers and viewers add to those on IGDB.

    Thanks!

  6. By showing the version title, it would be easier to know which version is which for games with the same name in different versions. It could be shown in front of the release date.

  7. I've noticed a large number of my games have no critic rating in gog due to gog using igdb for their database.

    There also appears to be no way of adding critic reviews or flagging a game as requiring them?

    Would it be possible to have this feature and perhaps provide a link to another website that has documented them to speed up the process? This way they can still be vetted by yourselves.

  9. The 'follow' attribute for a game is never returned from the API.
    For example, I would expect the following query to return "follows": 466 (as per the website).

    fields name, follows, hypes;
    where name ~ "last of us: part";
    limit 10;

    Instead, I get:

    "id": 26192,
    "hypes": 325,
    "name": "The Last of Us: Part II"

    Hey there, we don’t actively support Follows (and Hype) as a data point. We need to update our documentation to reflect this, apologies.

    Follow is part of the private endpoint we are sunsetting.

  13. Often when entering different Themes, Game-types, and/or Genres to define or classify a title, it is often up to the Editor's personal definition to what entails each category. Some may feel a "Shooter" only means FPS, others may include Shmups, or anything that fires a gun like Mega Man.

    It would be very helpful to have a defined definition for each category display when entering each one into a Edit page by hovering your mouse pointer over the entry.

    So, we actually used to have Tool Tips on our game edits, specifically for the Franchise and Series field.

    This feature broke at some point during our infrastructure migration post-acquisition, and disabled it.

    Now, we absolutely would like to bring this back indeed, and expand to more fields. As we are not constantly adding new data points and are putting a big focus right now on our contribution tools this is an excellent suggestion.

    We’ll take a look at the best places to implement them!

  14. Currently, only actual Bundle pages appear to display titles included. It would be helpful if those individual titles also displayed the collections and bundles they are included in.

  15. Some of the games don't get results through the API because the names used by ROM (and other game images) documenting organizations have some rules that don't apply to IGDB's main title rule.

    Some of them:

    If the title starts with an article, it goes to the end of the title. (Legend of Zelda, The)
    If there is a non-standard character, like slashes, quotes, etc, they are removed.
    The Japanese naming scheme uses double vowels instead of singles ones.

    It would be good to have as an alternative title option something like: "Alternative title - No-Intro Naming Convention".

    I'm pretty…

  17. Currently if you look at a series collection page, the main games, dlc and expansions are listed, but not standalone expansions.

    Examples:
    https://www.igdb.com/games/nostalgia-forte is not listed on its series collection page https://www.igdb.com/collections/nostalgia

    https://www.igdb.com/games/far-cry-3-blood-dragon is not listed on its series collection page https://www.igdb.com/collections/far-cry

    I think it is hard to find those stand alone expansions from the perspective of trying to find all standalone games in a series and would really like to have them represented.

  18. It would be nice to add 'hardware bundles' of games to the database. With NES & SNES Classic Mini, Mega Drive Mini, Neo Geo Classic, Playstation Classic Mini, Capcom home arcade, 1Up Arcades and several other mini consoles on the market, it would be nice to integrate those as 'hardware bundles' - bundles of existing games that are bundled in one hardware release.
    it could be realised with a dedicated category like Main Game, DLC, Bundle,… or just marked as Bundle. The platform where it is released could be either specific for each release or could be one general "hardware…

    Heya!
    We recently discussed adding the ‘retro classic’ mini consoles on IGDB, likely as a Version to the main consoles.

    While that would help having the data for the hardware itself, currently we wouldn’t be able to have a listing of game for a particular console version. Which can prove tricky for some specific edge cases, Starfox 2 comes to mind being exclusive to SNES Mini for example.

    I can confirm adding to those consoles is on our backlog as an initial step, platform Bundles though would probably be a separate task.

    Thanks!

  19. Titles contained within Collections and other Bundles can be listed as included by displaying links on the Game Page to each respective title's own page. However there is no current way to list titles unlocked as secrets from earning achievements or other various tasks in game.

    Ex. Completing the Xbox release of House of the Dead III unlocks House of the Dead 2.
