  1. Currently, when titles do not have an included Screenshot, the highlighted backdrop of the page displays a green background color. While I'm sure this is intentional in order to entice users to always be sure to add one, there isn't really anything that communicates this is what caused the green background. Further from an aesthetic point of view, it highly clashes with the purple "theme" of Twitch/IGDB.

As a suggestion, Twitch channels that don't include a background image will display a repeating pattern of the user's name. Or, an icon to signify a broken image to tell users to add…

  3. I was thinking about how to increase the amount of user reviews and interactivity between members and think this may be the best solution. Right now there is a section for recently reviewed games, but that doesn't seem to be showing user reviews? (Clicking on most items returns nothing, may be recently rated?) This would give more incentive to leave reviews which would appear on the front page for a short amount of time. Could be as simple as Game Cover art, reviewer name and rating, with a link to the game page, a more advanced method would be to…

  4. Instead of using random algorithm for similar games on IGDB pages. Make users enable recommend games based on their review. See MyAnimeList for the implementation. Its something like this :

If you like [Insert game title], then you can try this based on users recommendation and similar theme.

  5. The element used for browsing lists of games that fit a certain page’s criteria (e.g. game engine pages, category/keyword pages, franchise pages) sometimes does not display the pagination, preventing users from seeing any games beyond the first 10 shown. Changing the sort mode can allow you to see a different slice of 10 games, thus verifying that there should be additional pages visible.

Heya! Indeed definitely a bug, we’ve added this into our backlog and will look at a fix as soon as possible.
    Thanks!

  6. 3D view of game covers, being able to view the front, sides and back sides.
Could be nice when having many regions and scanned images of all sides of a box art.

Hey! For now we’re focusing on a single cover standard. Which we’ll then expand to other regions to be able to cover more types of users for this standard.

Once we have good coverage of those we may start looking at additional aspects such as sides, back of cover etc..

    Thanks!

  7. As some reviews age, some sites can go out of business or just shut down. However there doesn't appear to be an automatic way the database removes or reports broken links or updates scores as they go away. Additionally, some of these will push scores averages down if they continue to inaccurately are placed as Review Scores, yet hold broken links.

    Steel Battalion
    https://www.igdb.com/games/steel-battalion
    - 404 Review Links (Gaming Trend)

    Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly
    https://www.igdb.com/games/fatal-frame-ii-crimson-butterfly
    - Inaccurate count of 3 reviews on Game Page, but 2 reviews listed on Critic Reviews breakdown page.

  8. Ability to add game-specific controllers/accessories to their page. For example the guitar in guitar hero games, the camera with Eyetoy games, the dance mat for DDR games and so on. Along with the option to set whether the item is mandatory or not.

  9. Company logos change with time and many of them do drastic changes. Suggestion to be able to upload more than 1 logo as well as date input accompanying logos.
Also have a nice logo picture timeline where each logo has a 'from' and 'to' date associated.

  10. Pages 1, 2, and 3 of rated games, sorted by rating, does not show all of the games. Games of the same rating seem to be mixed up, and not using a second sorting column like game name to determine which should show on subsequent pages. This may be broken in the API as well, but I have not confirmed.

  11. Both Castlevania for the N64 and Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness are missing from the Categories menu of Twitch, but they are not missing from IGDB's site. I have spent the better part of two hours trying to figure out how to inform someone, ANYONE, of this (admittedly small) oversight and ended up here.

There has to be a better way to inform Twitch/IGDB of problems of this nature than to wander aimlessly around the Twitch help section, then give up and use the feedback forum, hoping that a relatively minor fix will be noticed by someone with the power and…

    Hey there!

For all things IGDB it is best to come to us directly rather than via Twitch help. Our preferred way is via Discord :)

    Discord: discord.gg/igdb
    Contact form: https://www.igdb.com/feedbacks/new
    Twitter: https://twitter.com/IGDBcom

Regarding the Twitch categories, while IGDB provides the data but what ends up there is decided by Twitch itself. In the case of Castlevania it is due to the fact Twitch is not ingesting Versions of games at this time. We are however working on expanding the data set so that they can become categories. Stay tuned!

  13. Another release region request. Generally these will almost always be included in a general North American [NA] release, but there are rare exceptions.

    God of War Saga
(known as God of War Omega Collection in Latin America, released November 20, 2012 and released as a 3 disc bundle instead of 2)

  14. http://retroachievements.org/ is a platform which provides achievements for retro games running in emulators, Currently there are only achievement categories for Steam, PSN and Xbox.

If we had a RetroAchievements category we could add achievements to thousands of games which may never have achievement's otherwise. It would be very cool for things like GOG Galaxy 2.0 integration plugins

    Heya!

This is interesting for sure, we would have to look into it. One thing that comes to mind is whether or not those achievement lists are official, or approved by the original developer/publisher, as this could prove tricky from an IP perspective. Since we would redistribute the data, we’re very careful about the source and provenance.

We’ll be looking into this internally first. Thanks!

  15. The game bundle SEGA Mega Drive & Genesis Classics (https://www.igdb.com/games/sega-mega-drive-and-genesis-classics) contains a large amount of games on the webpage, but in the API only one game is returned, sonic:

'fieldsname, url, bundles; where bundles = (80185); limit 50;' https://api-v3.igdb.com/games

    ],
    name: Sonic the Hedgehog,
    url: https://www.igdb.com/games/sonic-the-hedgehog

  17. When using a reference ID field, such as requesting https://api.igdb.com/v4/games/ where release_dates.platform [48,49,6]; as shown in an example in the API docs, the API returns a syntax error "You are trying to compare and exact array with an non array field: platform". This seems to be true of any field which is a reference ID when using this syntax. the array OR syntax (48,49,6) works fine.

  18. This goes slightly with the request for alternate cover options for titles, it would be helpful if various regional titles displayed beneath the main page titles, rather than a small subtext at the bottom of the page.

    Example:
    Title: Fatal Frame (NA)
Subtitle: Also known as: 零 (Zero - JP), Project Zero (EU)

    Hey there!
By icons, do you mean the (game) box arts/covers?

If so, we have plans to improve coverage of those on Twitch via IGDB covers, but also eventually help streamers and viewers add to those on IGDB.

    Thanks!
