[Feature] Category Suggestions Panel in Stream Summary
Hi everyone!
We're excited to announce the Category Suggestions panel on your Overview page is now available to all streamers (this feature is not available to Partners at this time). This panel shows you categories with the most favorable viewer:channel ratios that may help increase your chances of being discovered. These categories are ranked by factors such as average hours viewed versus average hours broadcasted in the past 7 days, and exclude outliers like large partnered channels.
For more information, please check out https://link.twitch.tv/ChannelAnalyticsOverview#category.
Your feedback is valuable to us, so please let us know if there's anything else we can do to improve this feature.

Because some games fit into multiple categories, pretty much all of the categories have the same games save for a few outliers.

This was working great, however now can't change the genre.
If I select a different genre, it auto-selects a bunch of them and won't pull up anything specific. Seems like it would be an easy fix. This is a very useful tool and would like to see it back to working status.

...and now it's broken even more. No genre related to my most recently streamed game is getting recommendation results, and selecting any of the applicable genres related to the game also selects EVERY OTHER genre related to the game too. Please fix this and the other issue I mentioned. This feature was stable in testing; I don't know why it's breaking like this now.

Can you PLEASE fix "Card & Board Games" and "Rhythm & Music Games"? It's been almost four months since I mentioned it here. There are so many games in both categories, and I want new recommendations for both.

YES PLEASE to comments about adding a search bar! Having a search feature would be so helpful when we're torn between playing a few games, but are growing and don't yet have enough regular viewers to ask them for what they'd like to see. This would allow us to better balance playing games we enjoy while making good decisions to grow our channel!

I think that the suggested categories are heavily biased. You can have 1 partnered streamer who has thousands of viewers and 9 others with 1-2 viewers and that game will be recommended. Of course I'll be in the top 10 streamers 🙄. But if this is a tool for small streamers to help us grow, I'd rather the statistics for average viewers remove the partnered steamers from consideration. It's hard enough to reach partner goals. Its false advertising to suggest I would earn more viewers playing a recommended game simply because the statistics are including a partnered streamer with thousands of viewers they earned by their nudity on another platform.
If Twitch is going to recommend content I should partake in, I would like it to also factor in the most-watched content of my community members/most active viewers/subscribers. I'd like to give my community the content they enjoy watching, participating, interacting with (my statistics vs what they as a whole interact with outside my channel)? If you tell me "Your viewers lurk when you play game XYZ but they are actively participating/interacting in other chats watching ABC", I'd rather play ABC. I like the suggestion What_this_be made about linking steam accounts so we can see games in our library and how they would rank in earning viewer potential.
I would also like the ability to filter out categories from recommendations. I don't have a tolerance for horror personally and I have friends with Misophonia I'm sure would not want to be recommended ASMR-type content.

Category growth based on how well you sit in the category; also noting if a category estimate is based on one streamer at 100 viewers and 29 other streamers at 1 or 2 viewers.

I suggest linking Steam accounts with game suggestions, so we can see what from our library is ranked higher

I'd like to suggest a new Category be created, called Opera. I am an opera singer and just having only the category "Music" is too broad.

Interesting tool. I found mixed results with it. I would recommend maybe having a feature that highlights games based on regions/timezones as well.

A search bar would be an awesome addition for this feature. Being able to sort through various games other uses may already have and want to stream or track how they trend for future stream opportunities.

Hey! Just some small feedback I think adding a small feature with a search bar too for games keep the suggestions but also adding a search bar I think would be amazing

En la parte de Categorías sugeridas de Español (España), no se ve completa la descripción, es decir, las estadísticas no salen completas porque se salen del recuadro, estaría bien si pudieseis arreglarlo.

This is definitely a new feature that's being worked out. It recommended that 1) I stream several games I'm not interested in and 2) I stream games that have lower engagement rates than my current interest.
I appreciate that twitch is starting to try but maybe instead of developing a feature to tell streamers "hey go play something else!" you could work on highlighting newer streamers or build a model that shows viewers recorded content.

Some categories that were working in the experiment are no longer working, that being "Card & Board Game" and "Rhythm & Music Game". Some categories have too few games to get suggestions, but I know these two have plenty, since they showed up in testing and in other categories. Also, please reorganize which genres are on which games, both in terms of what genres more accurately describe a game first, and if any genres apply to a game in the first place.

Love the feature - hope it will be rolled out to all streamers. I do think some changes are needed though:
- Remove gambling categories. Encouraging people to gamble is probably not the best choice.
- Clean up the filters. Some of the filters make sense (MOBA, Strategy Game, FPS etc.), but some of them don't (Pinball, Gambling Game, Educational Game)
- Limit the games that can be recommended. Many of the games recommended have very little viewership. Maybe limit suggestions to the top 500 categories by hours watched, and then recommend high viewer-channel ratio categories. After all, a high viewer-channel ratio only matters if viewers are there to watch the game!Once these are done, I think this is a great V1 that could be rolled out to everyone!

Hello! Thanks you for great tool, especially helpful for newbies and those who don'
t have experience with analytics. How can I use it with my language? As I see, it doesn't divide Russian language streamers from other languages, when calculating, and recommendations don't seem to work for Russian, maybe this happens to other languages as well. On other hand, I feel like, I can be wrong, because don't use it as it designed to be. Anyway, thanks, it is a very great improvement on quality of life for growing streamers and newbies!
