  1. Or at least give streamers the authority to enable or disable it. But the ENTIRE point was how it stood out with color. Plain black with italics just renders it useless.

    Hey all,

Thank you for the patience with us on this. This has been one of the most popular ideas on UserVoice and we definitely heard your feedback.

Today we launched /announcement for mods and streamers. Announcements can be used in chat to highlight a message and are available in 4 different colors along with the channel accent color. Because this is only part of the ask of this idea we are setting this idea to partial release so the community can continue to leave feedback on this.

  2. To help reduce the blatant and increasing violations of the harassment policy on Twitch, you should implement a new feature that allows a channel to prevent users from participating in their chat if the account is under a certain age, which could be specified specified by the channel.

Currently, it's easy for a user to create temporary email and Twitch accounts and harass a live streaming account under the guise of anonymity. This would add a much needed barrier to entry without requiring a user to follow or subscribe to be apart of a channel. The code currently exists for…

Hello everyone! Apologies for missing this post - but good news! Now creators can enable phone/email verification for a designated amount of time to verify their chatters.

You can find more information in our blog: https://blog.twitch.tv/en/2021/09/29/securing-your-chat-with-phone-and-email-verification/

Thank you all for the feedback!

  3. Ability to set a persistent message that stays at the top of the chat and is not affected by the rest of the chat scrolling up. Useful for information that may normally be constantly repeated through a bot command (ie. server IP, Discord server URL, social media, any relevant stream announcements like schedule changes, etc.)

Message stays up until the broadcaster (maybe editors, too?) removes it, so the message could stay up while the stream is offline as well (which also makes it useful to let viewers know of a stream cancellation).

    Hi again,

We want to start off by thanking you for the feedback you have provided! We're excited to announce the launch of pinned chat to all channels! To recap, streamers & mods can:

    • Pin any message in chat (regardless of which user posted it), by clicking on the pin icon that appears when hovering over an existing chat message
    • Create a pinned chat message using the "/pin [message]" command

Pinned chat helps seamlessly bring attention to information that might have been missed by latecomers to your stream, or simply keep relevant information accessible when chat gets busy. You can read more about it here.

Again, we really appreciate the feedback you've brought to make this launch possible – thank you for sharing with us! Feel free to leave any new feedback or ideas via https://link.twitch.tv/UVChat.

  4. Some creators will notice a new first-time chatter highlight is now available in chat. This feature lets creators and their mods identify and welcome newcomers in chat to their community when appropriate. The highlight is only available to creators and their mods in chat and is not displayed to the rest of your community. This feature is in a limited release, and we will monitor feedback before making it more widely available.

Creators and their mods are enrolled in the limited release automatically, and they can toggle the feature on and off in chat settings under "First Time Chat Highlight."

  5. Currently we have all kinds of ways to block various people from chatting, except the most important one: People avoiding bans by creating new accounts.

Thus we should have a new mode that only allows users with "established" accounts to chat, i.e. the account must be reasonably old.

Continuing with the theme of follower-only mode this should likely be configurable, with the number of days since an account was created for the user to be able to talk.

    Suggestions for default: 7, 30, 90, and 180.

Even requiring 7 days since the account was created will make it significantly more…

This suggestion was addressed by implementing Chat Verification Settings. More information can be found in our help article here - thank you!

  6. I think it would be beneficial to allow mods to highlight messages in chat without the use of channel points, to allow them to broadcast messages to the chat an unlimited amount of times. Another related idea is mods being able to pin a message at the top of chat, in a similar position to the hype train. These could work as "/broadcast (message)"

  7. We have many statuses in a chat, Regular Viewer; Moderator; Global Moderator; Broadcaster; Admin and Staff.

A level between Viewer and Moderator would be nice to have without a bot to do so, known as "Regulars".

Regular status would ideally be given to those who frequent your stream. If you have a Moderation bot, the moderation bot could ignore if a Regular would spam a lot of emotes yet not trusted to have full moderation powers.

Regular status would come with a chat badge, being a smiley face. The streamer can individually turn the badge on or off in their…

  9. It would be nice if companies could add verified dev twitch accounts associated with their games, and if the dev's were in chats of streams playing those games they could get a special game dev badge in chat to show that.

  10. Add a follow button to the in chat user interface. We now have the ability as a streamer or viewer to add friends, whisper, gift sub, see previous messages etc. but no ability to follow directly from chat. It would save multiple clips and the additional need of opening another tab. Personally I have other streamers come into my chat and I want to follow them right then while I'm live.

  12. Current chat replies is a neat idea, but the in-chat visuals shows the reply seemingly only to the original poster of the thread, instead of the previous poster/actual user that one is replying to.

Showing the actual person you're replying to makes it less confusing. [Affects when the thread has more than 1 reply.]

Based on this idea and other feedback, we have updated how chat replies work, to allow you to reply to a specific message in a thread directly! To make replies easier to follow, when responding to a specific message in a thread of responses, your message will only @ the person you are responding to, rather than the user whose comment initiated the thread. Thanks for your feedback!

  13. I've been in several streams where the devs of the game appeared in chat and talked to and answered questions with everybody. It is impossible to tell that they are a dev of any game unless they, the streamer, and other chatters constantly say so. We need a badge to distinguish they are a game dev so that they are easily recognizable. VIP badges aren't enough as they don't tell why the person is a VIP.

  16. Example: If I am in a channel and then move from desktop to phone app after loading channel in the phone app I am presented with a fresh clear chat. The feature that could be added is where even if I move from desktop to phone app and still going back to the channel. I should be able to see all the conversations and chat logs that occurred during the move from desktop to phone app.

  17. I mod for channels that use multiple languages in chat and I can no longer simply triple click a message to invoke a translation as the text of a message is no longer selectable. I now have to single click it, move the mouse (not as easy with my disability) to locate the actual reply section and then triple click to translate. If you will persist with this reply feature, at least make the original text selectable too, whilst still allowing clicking outside of the original text but within the text box's bounds to invoke a reply. I imagine other…

  18. Please give Moderators and Editors the ability to use the new /shoutout command. Streamers are usually too busy trying to make their stream entertaining to stop and type out a command. The Moderators are usually the ones who give a shoutout to other streamers.

Hey there! Just wanted to let you know that moderators should be able to use the new /shoutout feature in streamer's channels! You can learn more about it here: https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/shoutouts

However, this suggestion will remain as editors do not have access to create shoutouts at this time. Thanks for the feedback!

  19. Each comma in a decimal number you enter in the amount field is deleted when you enter the text field again up to a maximum of 600. At the lowest level, depending on the currency, you only have to click in the amount field and afterwards in the message field to trigger the bug. For example, 2, 20 -> 220; 7, 50 -> 600. .
