[Experiment] Pinned Chat
Heya!
Thank you for your suggestions regarding a feature to pin chat messages! Our team has been working on your feedback, and we're happy to let you all know that we are rolling out an experiment for Pinned Chat to a select number of users!
Please continue to bring your valuable feedback to us here, as we aim to understand how we can further meet the needs of you and your communities!
You can find more information on Pinned Chat on our Help Page: https://link.twitch.tv/PinnedChat.
Hi again,
We want to start off by thanking you for the feedback you provided! We're excited to announce the launch of pinned chat to all channels! To recap, streamers & mods can:
- Pin any message in chat (regardless of which user posted it), by clicking on the pin icon that appears when hovering over an existing chat message
- Create a pinned chat message using the "/pin [message]" command
Pinned chat helps seamlessly bring attention to information that might have been missed by latecomers to your stream, or simply keep relevant information accessible when chat gets busy. You can read more about it here.
Again, we really appreciate the feedback you've brought to make this launch possible – thank you for sharing with us! Feel free to leave any new feedback or ideas via https://link.twitch.tv/UVChat.

Pinned message is a useful feature, but please add a confirmation, because it's very easy to misclick and accidentally pin a message.

The font for the pinned chat is too large. You cannot see the whole message in the pin.

I'm a moderator on some channels but why can't use /pin command?

Twitch needs a better user customer service interface. Twitch support on Twitter is very slow to respond and I have been having issues with twitch and purchasing subscriptions through PayPal. I think a more direct connection between customers and twitch would improve the overall user experience

It is an option that we are asking for a lot, I hope they can implement it in all channels, the chat would be more interactive and it would help a lot to have an ad there for everyone to see

Since chat commands through IRC are being deprecated, it would be good to have an API endpoint to pin a message programmatically, since this is basically just a better implementation of the /announce feature.

Imho there are too many features sharing the single spot on top of the chat. When multiple things are happening, like Polls, Trains and now also the pinned messages, its too much. I totally dislike the UI design in switching between these elements. If multiple things happen, it would be cool, to have a dedicated button for each of these events on top of the currently displayed events instead of having to click multiple times to switch to another element. Otherwise, I hope, this feature gets rolled out pretty soon since its sooo help- and useful.
I'd be amazed if this feature would work like a /topic in IRC which is permanently on top until unpinned. -

I'd love to see the pinned chat in a smaller font. Right now it's way too large, and even the shortest messages won't be fully shown once the popup auto collapses. In my opinion that goes against the purpose of the feature as it obscures the message, which is pinned just to have visibility. People are lazy, and most of them won't bother to click and expand the message

The only problem with this feature is could have the same issues the chant feature had where mods were bullying and putting inappropriate stuff in chants. How will that be addressed when it starts happening again? We just wanna stream and have fun

In my opinion, being able to pin only 1 message kills the purpose of this feature.
When we read the chat we often are late and try to catch up. During this process, being able to pin important messageS to answer them after catching up with the chat is a must have.
Being able to pin only one message kills this possibility. Also, for Just Chatting streamers (and everyone actually), being able for mods to make some sort of curation of messages so the streamer can focus on those messages would make this feature way more useful than it is right now.
Being able to pin messages is a good idea (i'd even say a must-have), I have much more doubts about its implementation that makes it more a gadget than an actually useful feature to me.
But I guess that really depends on your goals for this feature.
