How it works:
  • Choose a relevant category for your idea and check to see if any other users have already submitted this suggestion before creating your own
  • Be clear with your suggestion, provide examples and solutions to the problem you are posing. Suggestions without actionable feedback may be closed without comment
  • Upvote existing ideas, as opposed to creating multiple similar requests
  • Be sure to share your suggestion with others to gain more support!
  • Note: Suggestions are not guarantees that we will take action on an idea. We will try our best to communicate why an idea may not work, but may not always be able to share that information.
  • Titles that are unclear or unnecessarily vulgar may be reworded to better reflect the request for ease of discovery

If you need help:
This forum is for ideas only. If you need help, please check out our help portal for tons of articles that may answer your questions. If you still need help, you can reach out to our support team in the help portal as well!

  1. Currently /slow sets the slowmode to default 120 seconds. It could be used to let chatters look up how large ist is.
This would help moderators to better set their slows based on channel activity. It would also prevent chatters from spamming the channel with "slowtest" messages.
It should also show which moderator last changed the slowmode (only for the broadcaster and other mods).

  2. Instead of Followers Only mode, you should add a mode where trusted accounts (accounts that have existed for a long time and are in good standings with twitch) are the only accounts allowed to chat. That way trolls will be filtered out, and good upstanding Twitch citizens can chat to see if they like the stream before they follow.

    You're welcome. Stream fixed.

  3. If a hype train is going or the streamer runs a poll, there is a notification window on top of the chat, which blocks some of the chat.

I'd appreciate an option to dismiss this notification pop up (x).

  4. So far, the chat "delay" value is only readable from the API by the broadcaster.
I think that misses the point of having this value accessible.

To me, the point of this value is to be able to honnor the delay for chat client developpers (chatty, chatterino, ...)
But that fact that it's only accessible by the broadcaster makes it quite useless. The only point I see in its current state is the abaility to display it at some point.

In an ideal world this delay would simply be handled server-side instead of client-side as it is right now, but…

  5. Allow users to set what timezone they are in, and display both local time and the chatter's time.

eg: I am in US/Eastern and Anon123 is in US/Pacific, so I would see something like this in my chat:
12:01 Nivex: This is a test message
    12:02 (9:02) Anon123: Response message

  7. If someone forget to set a space after end of sentence point (.) Twitch chat make a link out of it. Example: ...is really heavy.for years i try to... The "heavy.for" is shown as a link. I'm sure it will be misused in the future, when more sublevel domains are on the market. We have the it for italy domain for example. You could just do a page like ****.it and post a sense making sentence around this "link"... You know what I mean...

  8. When a suspicious user marked as restrict types in chat, others can´t view the message, except the streamer and moderators.
The problem is that streamer can read it during a live stream, specially in a crowded chat even with moderator chat highlights.
Right now there is no great difference for chat highlights between a restricted user and a monitored user. I know that text color is different, but highlight caption is always Suspicious User.
I suggest a different color for moderator highlight as well as a new caption for this situation.
And if possible, an option to disable this type…

  10. Problem statement:
There are numerous young streamers ( kids & teens ) on Twitch, that are an easy abuse target, by older kids, by adults , and worst of all, by criminals.

    Questions:
    1. How can I help Twitch , in contributing and in facilitating this change to protect those streamers ?
    2. Can I help by being part of Twitch taskforce to address this severe issue ?

    Possible solutions / Suggestions:
    1. Require any non-adult streamer to have verified accounts only for their chat audience.
    2. Chat audience of the verified accounts, must match the streamer age and may…

  11. Make it possible to set up a personal filter of words. Sentences using that word will automatically no be displayed for me no matter what channel Im in.

    Why ?
Many streams, especially of large streamers are filled with spam that provides no value for me and makes the chat unreadable. Examples are pepelaugh, kekw, lulw, pog etc.
This is a personal preference and I dont think its realistic that I should need to run around and convince each streamer to ban the words I dont like.
I also tried blocking all users using those words but they are so…

Sometimes (i think people will agree) We dont want to have chats on all the time on our streams,

  14. I understand that your shadowban on VPN users is probably in place for legitimate reasons (ie. to prevent people from ruining the chat experience for others with spam accounts and whatnot). However, if I am a VIP in someone's channel, it doesn't make sense for Twitch to interfere with my ability to participate in their chat. It's kind of annoying having to disconnect from my VPN just to talk to some of my favorite streamers. I don't think the streamers would want their VIPs to be unable to chat with them either.
Again, I'm not asking you to lift the…

  15. Some users are cheating by using farms of bots to spam their chat. They are doing this to make real viewers visit their stream, because usually viewers are watching channels where "some action" is happening.
Real users and advertisers could see this kind of cheating if bots who post via API were highlighted or somehow marked.

  16. Give Editors the ability to mod and unmod non-editor mods.

Editors should be a role given to an entrusted friend/moderator so they should be able to perform additional tasks on behalf of the broadcaster in the certain events of large streamers not always having time or the ability to manage their chat moderators, thus many streamers put one of their tenured, more trusted moderators to lead the mod team on how to moderate the chat. Among these responsibilities, modding/unmodding should be one of them on behalf of the streamer focusing on growing their brand.

There are certain third party programs…

  17. ID display in chat window is unnecessary. Just showing your nickname is enough. (For non-admins) (add setting)
채팅창에 아이디 표시는 불필요합니다. 닉네임만 보여줘도 충분합니다. (관리자가 아닌 사람들에게는요) (설정 추가)

  18. Would be cool a chat group together the normal chat like had a tool or a simple option that could find friends or new peoples to meet

Being this option you enter another chat but in the same stream and with people who can now be your friends

    Ex:
Normal chat -> click a button -> chatgroup( the same stream )

If could draw the idea would be better but i think it be enough

  19. For affiliates, you can create roles for users. For example, instead of just VIP and Moderator, you can create a role, change it's icon and appearance. (ex: Friends Role.)

  20. Watchalong streams often have people posting spoilers. Some moderators introduce emote mode, but this prevents discussion.

A solution to this would be a feature to introduce a moderator-controlled delay to the chat. Therefore, people could continue writing comments live, but everyone elsewould get them a bit later (say 5, 10, 20, 30 seconds).
