How it works:
  • Choose a relevant category for your idea and check to see if any other users have already submitted this suggestion before creating your own
  • Be clear with your suggestion, provide examples and solutions to the problem you are posing. Suggestions without actionable feedback may be closed without comment
  • Upvote existing ideas, as opposed to creating multiple similar requests
  • Be sure to share your suggestion with others to gain more support!
  • Note: Suggestions are not guarantees that we will take action on an idea. We will try our best to communicate why an idea may not work, but may not always be able to share that information.

  1. It's come to my attention that Chatterino has the ability to display banned user notifications to non-mods, this must be due to the twitch chat api having these messages as part of the normal feed and just filtered on twitch itself.

Moderator specific messages should never be permitted to outside parties, this is a clear oversight and needs to be corrected.

  2. With the new addition of verified users only in chat, you can have an account which is 2FA enabled but still requires a cell phone SMS verification.
This seems non-sensical as 2FA via an authenticator is app technically more secure than SMS verification, however it is not treated as equivalent.

2FA via an authenticator app should count as an account as verified the same as SMS.

  3. Too many messages in chat make the stream spammy and makes it hard for streamers to see what is going on.

It also makes it hard for viewers to hold conversations with each-other or even follow what is happening.

If viewers could stay in smaller chat groups, they could hold actual conversations in those groups.

And if those groups could upvote comments, the most-voted comments could be made visible for all users in every group, working like a spam filter in which only the good comments are made visible for everyone, reducing spam drastically.

  4. Already back in the golden days of IRC - late 90s, early 2000s, it was common sense for both IRC network operators, and custom bots run to moderate channels, to have built in protections against hateful and disrupting attacks and other common abuse of the service.

These kind of protections would include mitigations against:

    • Mass creation of accounts

    • Trying to connect to the network too many times from one IP

    • Too many joins/messages/similar to a single channel

    • Mass spam from multiple automated or manually operated actors

Twitch should look into the already widely adopted best practices and implement similar practices…

  5. Right now if you block a user and you moderate for a channel that said user is in, you will still see their messages. I have certain users blocked for a reason and me seeing them in chats that I moderate drives me away from the streams. The streamer does not want them banned, so that is not a viable option. I understand that as a moderator your job is to keep an eye on users, but other mods can help out regarding these instances.

  6. Implement a universal chat badge based on the user's account age. Similar to sub age based sub badges, these badges would vary based on the account age. For example, at 5 years old the account would have access to badge 1, 10 years badge 2, etc.

  7. So, my issue with Highlighted Messages is that almost all the time they get drowned out by the other messages anyways, especially with larger streamers. The whole point (To my understanding) of highlighted messages is to make them more visible to the streamer, which often doesn't happen for the reason I stated earlier.

So here's how I think this can be improved: Separate regular chat from Highlighted Chat. This way the highlighted messages won't be drowned out. Even though the cost, and by extension the frequency of Highlighted Messages will vary and could be low OR high, it still won't…

  8. That's it. Ability to highlight a chatters first post that broadcast.

To be clear so that this isn't closed down again, I do not mean first time chatters ever, I realise that that is available. I mean first time in that live event.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Thanks for reposting and clarifying. We appreciate it.

  9. Arabic letters are way too small for us to read. We often struggle since the letters are connected to forming a word. I would suggest a different font for Arabic that is clear when its small or big.

  10. Hi all !

I post this message to know if what I'm thinking about does exist.

I'm talking about an option to have the messages, from some chatters, "pinged" on the chat window (live chat continue scroll & pinged messages stay for 15-20 secondes, this option for big streamers or not).

With this, we can add something like 50 chatters (or more), who paid this option (like a sub)🤑🤑🤑

this is just to know if this think exist on twitch?

    Have a godd day 🤓🤓🤓

    Kind regards from Belgium

  11. It would be a great quality of life for Ultra Wide Screen users to have a twitch chat window where you can edit the width size. Currently, If you are watching a vod with 21:9 monitor/resolution, you get a lot of black portions on your screen and the chat windows is barely readable. On live streams, you can just pop out the chat and place it wherever you feel comfortable but that option is not available on vods.

  12. I have banned a user from my channel also banned from whispers etc.
    Here is the problem:
I mod for various streamers. The user is in those streams too but not banned.
Because i banned the user from my own channel and whispers etc i can not see the chat messages posted by this person in the chats i moderate (except when they have onscreen chat ). This is very inconvenient. As a mod you need to be able to see all the chatters messages.

Please make it possible to view the whole chat for mods including the users privately…

  13. On phones when editing text it is difficult especially in 日本語(Japanese) to select and edit text due to accidental pressing of the bit and emote button. Maybe a slide-out drawer for emotes and bit would be better to clear the chat field or just place it on the opposite side out of the chat field.

  14. I have been seeing people saying spell checks from Windows to other Browsers don't work only on Twitch. Starting in April this is happening to lots of people and just a few days ago it happened to me. Please fix this it's obviously an issue with Twitch because none of us are having this problem in other webpages.

  15. The amount of time people have been subbed is pretty common to be found, but I also think it'd be cool if you could see how long somebody has been a VIP, mod, founder, etc. This could be optional to the streamer and/or the person in question (via the current chat settings where the displayed badges are).

  16. Time a user out for a given amount of time, during which time Twitch ads roll for them instead of the stream. If the specified time is not equal to the amount needed for an ad slot (i.e. rounded to 30/60/120 seconds), round the time up to the nearest applicable value. If necessary, streamers could not be reimbursed for the viewing of these ads to discourage their use to pad revenue.

  19. Right to the point: I have a stream where i am regular viewer Guild Wars 2 game, but there is a player who plays in competitive scene of that game, known to the streamer i watch and his viewers.

I've been mistaken for that player many times in streamer's twitch chat because of my nickname, which is similar to that player's nickname.

I don't want to change my global nickname because on other streams it's fine, but for that stream alone, where i am constantly mistaken for someone else, i would set some unique nickname.

    I.e. Just like Discord's server…
