I suggest you ...

Kick unwanted users/bots from Channel COMPLETELY!

Dear Twitch,

We are now dealing with a new threat of bot accounts. These accounts sit lurking in channel, possibly logging info of either streamers or chatters. They may be using this info for giveaway sniping, or possible future bot attacks, including viewer bots, follower bots, and even spam bots. They sit there and do nothing, they follow us to other streams we host/raid. We ban them, not like they ever say anything, but to prevent them from spreading, we need a way to KICK THEM OFF THE CHANNEL.

Recently had a run in with "Opentwitchbot" whom acknowledges that they are running a bot in other's channels, but never requested permission to do so, instead, they want us to run THEIR command in our channels to make them leave, which isn't possible on our bots, because our bots are not design for that command, nor is it a Twitch command. I don't know what their command is doing, and I certainly don't trust it. When confronting them on the fact that their bot is breaking ToS, they reported me for reporting them. I requested and stated to them several times, their bot is not welcomed in my channel, and they refused to remove themselves until the end of my stream, waiting for me to host someone and latch on to them, thus spreading.

We've all been noticing another set of bots possibly working together, Faegwent ThisIsMyDevAccount and chatdb, they never speak, but they have hundreds if not thousands of followers, they never broadcast, etc etc, what are they doing sitting in our chat? sending info to these followers? that's against ToS. We the broadcasters need an option to kick them from the page, doesn't have to be permanent, they might have an option to hop back on, but I think we should have some sort of captcha security so they can PROVE they are human, and not a bot when rejoining the page!

Banning doesn't do enough if they can still read the chat and gather the info. Reporting seems to do nothing for the past 2 months of reporting them, from MULTIPLE witnesses/reporters. It's about time we have some control over the unwelcome bot accounts.

Help us help you lessen the load!

A Hard Working Broadcaster, just trying to stop the spread of unwanted guests.

Hi, I know that this is a very late response, but we’re hoping to find time to address this issue later this year. There are a few steps we’ll have to take to solve this problem in a way that will work for all streamers, but we understand the severity of the issue.

It's well known at this point that twitch not only ignores this, but supports these users and their "accounts". This suggestion has fallen on deaf ears. It awful, but I grit my teeth about this and continue on.

Since twitch chat is actually a strange form of an IRC chat, you might guess that it should be able to connect to a chat via standard IRC clients. This is actually possible and documented. The documentation actually does not include any KICK command, which should be an essential tool to remove bad people from your stream. You should be able to remove unwanted bots and also unwanted people like stream snipers. When using the BAN function in twitch, it actúally does nothing more than MUTE. Actually no user was ever banned on twitch, because banning someone means to remove him from your property.

So many more. I've banned em. Can even see now how many times I've tried timing them out. Its like nothing can be done. Even for the hell of it I created an Account that has 0 attached social media, two streams in, the only people in the stream are Bots that you cant get rid of. It really makes yah wanna just stop. Please take care of this ASAP.

I have asked Twitch a few times to give me an option to remove them, never heard anything from twitch, and I do not understand why. It feels like you don't own your own channel when you have 1 viewer and 8 bots in chat. I have tried everything to remove them, I find the entire experience making me not want to stream.

I don't have an issue with the bots getting info from my chat or anything, I just hate not being able to see which users are actual users, and which are just bots.

I saw the user ActiveEnergy on stream. He actually has a real channel and panels and all. I went in and asked about why he was in my chat:

I started "Um.. can I ask why are you in my chat ?"
He said "What the fuck are you on about you're not even live! And I don't even speak your language! Its a bug!"
To that I replied "So you don't mind me banning you from my channel since, you know, its not you..."
And then I got instantly banned.

Sounds like someone overreacting because they don't want to get caught. I obviously reported this filth for botting and for being rude on top of that in the Other TOS violations section. I encourage all of you seeing activeenergy in your chat to do the same. If he cares about his channel he'll have to respect fellow streamers first.

Consider this my vote to make bans purge bots from our channels. One can only hope...

Maddening as hell. I cannot tell who is legit viewers over the wretched bots. Give me some channel control back twitch, I want to purge anyone not generating views.

With group gifting subs, bots now become a form of theft. Gift subs received by a bot can then be redirected to the controllers channel

It's now more than just a nuisance.

    "jade_elephant_association", "lanfusion", "himekoelectric", "shoutgamers",
    "0_applebadapple_0", "v_and_k", "apricotdrupefruit", "fossabot", "n3td3v",
"8rose", "philderbeast", "decafsmurf", "faegwent", "thronezilla", "cogwhistle",
    "woppes", "mwmwmwmwmwmwmwmmwmwmwmwmw", "zanekyber" }

It's getting out of hand with new bots showing up every week, Twitch seriously needs to do something about this. I'm going to make a protest bot that will connect to Twitch via vpn connections and spam Twitch admin channels/pm's until they do something about it. I would urge everyone to do the same sort of thing, keep messaging/emailing them about the issue until they listen.

Some of these bots are being used maliciously recording your chat data for marketing purposes and selling it to 3rd parties.

Twitch needs to add an option to disallow bots from joining your channel without permission and make it a bannable offence for users to join a channel with unwanted botting intentions. Or have the ban command prevent a user from viewing the chat/stream entirely and add an option to only allow registered/verified users to view your chat/stream - this would also reduce harassment.

As a very new streamer on Twitch I get very few viewers - currently peaking at 5 or 6 most streams - but even to me, a mere layman compared to most, I can see that there are a lot of bot's exploding into Twitch channels. I however am not a NOOB when it comes to internet security, I know that these bots are very capable of applying some very nasty and potentially malicious code. The ability of a bot is way beyond most peoples imagination. IP address, browser tracking, banking records, anything and everything you do online is open to abuse from these bot's.

I ask you @Twitch.tv how do you propose to protect us from this threat, a very clear and present danger to not only your 'bread winning' streamers/content creators, but also to all of their viewers.

I want uninvited bot's out of my chat A.S.A.P!

are all sitting in my chat and there is nothing I can do. This is absolutely frustrating and takes away from my ability to connect with the small amount of people that ACTUALLY come to my channel. Skinnyseahorses' channel bio is a straight up troll saying how he is doing nothing wrong and that there is nothing you can do about it.

    Something has to change.

  • boomboom_64 commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

And the abuse goes on & on.

"ogqp" a botviewer AND supporting 2007 school massacre Finland via bio & avatar. !!!
"teyd__" yet another bot without any clear purpose information given.

Twitch does nothing... Simple proper morals are not for winners by any means apparently.

  • darthclide commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

Exactly @Ay Jay. I have been requesting this for years now. While it won't stop trolls from finding ways to harass the stream, it will make it much much more difficult.

In addition to this, the whisper system needs to be tied into bans. It should at least warn a user that the whisper they are receiving, comes from a user who is banned in a channel that they follow. Even better is if the streamer can customize the warning message. For example: "This user was banned from darthclide's stream for non stop verbal abuse and doxxing" or "This user was banned from darthclide's stream for racial slurs".

  • Ay Jay commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

Absolutely need to be able to ban this junk. Ban should mean "prevent from joining" not "prevent from talking".
