Lurkers are NOT bots
Lurkers should not be considered bots and removed from viewer count. Lurkers are literally the backbone of live streaming services, whether they have the stream pulled up on their second monitor or TV, or hidden in the background at work so they can keep their earbud in, their silent statement of streamer support means the world to small streamers. By discrediting their view, you are only hurting the streamers mental health. Even with channel point redemptions and chat messages sent, their view will eventually be flagged by your new viewbot detection system and the count will decrease. When you look at view count, it is not an interactive viewer count and forcing an audience to interact to prove they are not bots is crazy. Some viewers have been following and subbed to streamers for years and only have sent like 10 chat messages over this time period. Not everyone on twitch is here to interact, some just like to watch TV.

Lurkers are not bots—they are real people who choose to observe rather than actively participate. In online communities, forums, livestream chats, or social platforms, many users prefer to read posts, watch content, and stay informed without commenting or reacting. This behavior is completely normal and often driven by factors of https://thevapetown.com/ like shyness, language barriers, learning goals, or simply wanting to understand the community culture first.
