Intentional misuse of tags ie. Vtuber tag on non-Vtuber
There has been a recent rise in streamers misusing the tag system, most noticeably with non-Vtubers using the Vtuber tag. This makes discoverability more difficult for both streamers who are actually Vtubers, and viewers trying to use the tag system to find Vtubers. Even prominent streamers are misusing tags, so this behavior has been spreading. I'd like to ask Twitch staff to please enforce action on the misuse of tags to help the streamers and viewers who are using the tag system as intended. Banning streamers from using specific tags they have been caught and verified to be abusing them might be a helpful solution to consider.
Hi, thanks for flagging this and sharing your suggestion.
We share and understand your concerns about how the intentional, repeated misuse of tags can undermine the purpose of the tags product itself. Tags are an important discoverability feature for communities, and a powerful way for all Creators—but especially those that are underrepresented—to express their personal identity and creative vision for their content.
We also do not feel Twitch should be the judge of Creators’ personal or creative identity, so we typically only enforce against the misuse of tags when it is associated with other behavior that violates our Community Guidelines such as hateful conduct or harassment.
That said, as the VTuber community’s experience demonstrates, there are limitations to this approach and we are actively investigating additional steps we can take to protect and improve the integrity of the tags feature at scale, without infringing on good faith Creators’ personal choice to express themselves and define their content.
Our goal is to have more to share with you about the tags feature later this year.

I currently do not know what to say, after so much look also of having to see asmr or many times, have to see streamers that during the regulations that do not do in stream now, it is noticing that little by little moderation Twitch little by little he goes down.
And it is not because of the type of community that is being given, it is noted that they can not do much, because maybe it or the streamer will generate money or favoritism sometimes somewhere in moderation (which I did not want to be the case but It was already noticed because they decide indirect) it is expected that the rules are applied equally, if each tag has its end. Because someone who does not correspond to the category, has to be advertised for people who do not want to see? That is, if t.o.s were applied well, this will not happen, and it is still repeating because there are no people seem at the offices
Why is there no someone who is responsible for reviewing the tags and where they do not correspond if they have reports, they send them out or better, they block the tag so that it is not repeating? Because it shows that they do not want to lose streamers that generate views to add ads every so often, because if there are people who want to encourage, but they want a private life and want to do what they like, because now big streamers and people who may go Doing Stream on different platforms do not give them warning or only eliminate them the category of their options?

"We also do not feel Twitch should be the judge of Creators’ personal or creative identity, so we typically only enforce against the misuse of tags when it is associated with other behavior that violates our Community Guidelines such as hateful conduct or harassment" come on this just a non answer these streamers abusing the vtuber tag just make you money so your not going to enforce your rules, so you know what just remove the tag system entirely so you don't have to deal with it because you don't seem to care.

Ignoring that the admin answer is basically saying your not gonna bother to enforce your own TOS and carry on letting people abuse the system. Where is the concern for the harassment and insults vtubers are receiving from these people incorrectly using the tag. Being mocked and insulted consistently by streamers with 1000's of viewers live on your platform and now having them overrun and take over our space? How can you not spend 5 seconds reading into that and seeing this is just another way they're harassing us. I didn't realise Twitch's take on harassment was 'deal with it.'

Hey, how about immediate action in punishing the creators currently maliciously misusing the content tagging system, and enforcing your rules evenly and fairly, regardless of how much money those creators are making you? How about creating a culture of accountability on Twitch? How about actually protecting small groups from being taken advantage of? How about literally doing anything at all?
This admin response is such a non-answer non-solution. It means nothing. It's a placatory response. We will not be silenced by your limp-wristed half-assed attempt to placate us. Punish these malicious actors. Now.

The admin answer is certainly a nonanswer. This is a "we know is this an issue, but they make us money so we'll pretend it's too hard to punish them despite the problem being very straight forward"

This isn't a "judge" call, either someone is using the VTuber tag as intended and streaming from behind a digital avatar, or they're not. A six year old can look and say, "that's a cartoon face". This isn't an advanced discussion of the sociological concept of identity, either someone is showing their real face or they aren't. It's clearly stated in your rules and you're refusing to enforce it fairly: "Deliberate or extensive misuse of titles, tags, games/categories, or other metadata are prohibited"
And don't get us started on the "ASMR" tag being used when someone is screaming like a baboon and playing Call of Duty.

This smells like a non-answer but if you read between the lines you get "this would be too difficult for us to actually police and enforce, so we just won't" which is not unlike how Twitch handles almost every other ToS violation that exists lol

So tired of non vtubers abusing this tag. Specially streamers who *********** their mic while wearing skimpy outfits and calling it "asmr".
Please do something twitch, cause this is going to kill twitch if something isn't done. -

Even though I don't stream, the vtuber community is home to some very good friends and seeing bigger streams misuse the tag and preventing smaller names from getting noticed while actually properly following the rules. Also, where will the misuse of the tag system end? If nothing is done to prevent people from abusing the tag system it will absolutely snowball.

This is disgraceful and disgusting conduct coming from some of Twitch’s biggest names. And it is trickling down because Twitch hasn’t cracked down on it. xQc, JennaLynn, tectone, and many others are guilty of this. I do both IRL and Vtubing and would never dream of intentionally mislabeling my streams. As a small streamer this makes things difficult for me to be seen and it decreases my faith in Twitch. Small streamers are the potential future for Twitch but if small streamers lose faith in Twitch they won’t stick around and Twitch’s future won’t be so prosperous.

Even if this doesn't "work" twitch can't just ignore the fact that people all over the platform are mis-using the tag system.

honestly this needs to stop the miss info like if your not one please don't use the tag please

This might not be the most important issue on the platform but it is one that negatively effects the quality of the platform. It can also, fortunately, be resolved relatively easily by enforcing tag abuse rules and setting some examples.

We fought so hard to get a vtuber tag so we can be discovered on the platform, only for the most hate-spewing streamers on the site to then use it to promote their hate.
If twitch is not going to enforce their search manipulation policies, then delete the existing tag system entirely so that it can't be abused at all.

I love how someone called vtubers pedobait but had the tag. and the fact that this has to be made into a big deal says a lot about twitch currently.

I don't appreciate being called a pedophile by some overweight **********. Where is the TOS enforcement on that too?

Tags are a great way to help categorize, describe and discover Streams and Channels.
While there are a small number of exceptions of Non-VTubers providing VTuber content via Collaborations or supporting other VTubers as their focus, there are however, numerous top Twitch Partners wrongly using this tag for the sole sake of appearing on top of page while have no relation to the content they provide in the first place.
On top of that, you have Twitch Partners using the tag who also attack people who are part of the VTuber and Anime community on stream and social media.
