  1. Ability to add game-specific controllers/accessories to their page. For example the guitar in guitar hero games, the camera with Eyetoy games, the dance mat for DDR games and so on. Along with the option to set whether the item is mandatory or not.

  2. This goes slightly with the request for alternate cover options for titles, it would be helpful if various regional titles displayed beneath the main page titles, rather than a small subtext at the bottom of the page.

    Example:
    Title: Fatal Frame (NA)
    Subtitle: Also known as: 零 (Zero - JP), Project Zero (EU)

  3. Currently if you look at a series collection page, the main games, dlc and expansions are listed, but not standalone expansions.

    Examples:
    https://www.igdb.com/games/nostalgia-forte is not listed on its series collection page https://www.igdb.com/collections/nostalgia

    https://www.igdb.com/games/far-cry-3-blood-dragon is not listed on its series collection page https://www.igdb.com/collections/far-cry

    I think it is hard to find those stand alone expansions from the perspective of trying to find all standalone games in a series and would really like to have them represented.

  4. (Confirmed in the Pipeline)
    After confirming a duplicate listing for deletion, it would be helpful to users that have saved those titles by Following, Saving to Lists or to Played listings to forward those links to the correct page, rather than the "Oops" broken link.

    Heyhey,

    So shedding some more light onto this.
    While we are going to be working on a proper way to remove ‘bad pages, and duplicates’, this project is likely going to come in several phases.

    The initial phase is removing the pages form the site, and stop syncing them with the API.
    The later phase would be us building tools to automatically swap the game IDs on lists, reviews, etc.. which would take care of this.

    Thanks!

  5. Often when entering different Themes, Game-types, and/or Genres to define or classify a title, it is often up to the Editor's personal definition to what entails each category. Some may feel a "Shooter" only means FPS, others may include Shmups, or anything that fires a gun like Mega Man.

    It would be very helpful to have a defined definition for each category display when entering each one into a Edit page by hovering your mouse pointer over the entry.

    So, we actually used to have Tool Tips on our game edits, specifically for the Franchise and Series field.

    This feature broke at some point during our infrastructure migration post-acquisition, and disabled it.

    Now, we absolutely would like to bring this back indeed, and expand to more fields. As we are not constantly adding new data points and are putting a big focus right now on our contribution tools this is an excellent suggestion.

    We’ll take a look at the best places to implement them!

  6. As it stands, there is a lot of confusion and mixed up data between Collections and Franchises, all relating to the series in which a game belongs. Some games will be within a collection without a franchise, while other series titles such as "Legend of Zelda" has 2 different database ID's for its collection and its franchise.

    Because of these differences, it's hard to utilise the series distinction in searches, as it might be in one category or the other, or both. If both are merged, there would be a more consistent way of determining a "series", with many games…

  7. Just a button on IGDB to go to a random game in the database. Maybe you can set a date frame or different filters to it but in general a button to show a random game would be awesome.

    Hey!

    This is a good suggestion thank you! This has been discussed a couple of times in the past. We can’t promise any ETA on such a feature but it would be interesting to investigate.

    Our main concerns so far would be what can be included is random: should it have filters, should it be games on all platforms or only selected ones, all age ratings etc..

    If you have more ideas or specifics that always helps, we’ll leave this ticket open meanwhile!
    Thank you!

  8. Sometimes users may not log onto the site for a time, while there may be pending questions from Admins that may require feedback or clarification to get approved.

    Having the ability to enable Email Notifications for new comments on pending entries could help notify users in a more convenient way.

    Hey! There is very much a need for this absolutely. However it wouldn’t be a simple implementation at this point of time.

    We’ll definitely stay in touch when we proceed forward!
    thanks

  9. I've been looking at how to get a card game that is currently being streamed on twitch by a few people listed in IGDB so that twitch will have it listed as a game.

    Currently people are just streaming it under the Magic the Gathering label because you have to pick something and that is card-gamey. But whilst MTG is the largest card game, many other games are seeing success online in various forms.

    Whilst pokemon and MTG command the limelight in terms of box openings etc.
    There are plenty of people playing other card games virtually over webcam or…

  11. I feel like there should be a general category for certain series. Such as Zelda, Mario, Megaman, RE, Digimon all under one catergory instead of individual games(unless they are a new). IGDB already implements this under what they call "Collections."

    What do you think? People who play older titles but are a part of said series' community would be more in their line of audience. It's better than having them spread out in random places like Retro or Just Chatting. So instead of having massive communities around certain games, whether they are thriving or dying, you can have a continuous…

  12. Currently keywords are just a dumping ground for any word or phrase that is somewhat related to a game.

    Perhaps what is needed is a re-definition or splitting up of keywords into:

    Game mechanics (keywords)
    Atmospheric/visual (keywords)
    Player character (keywords)
    Other/Minor (keywords)

    Let's take the "rain" keyword for example. Currently there are 310 games with this keyword assigned. These games feature rain to various degrees for various purposes:

    Gameplay: Rain (Game) - a core mechanic where your character is invisible unless they stand in the rain.
    Atmospheric: Deadly Premonition - it rains for most of the game, and the raincoat…

  13. Adding a Full/Partial Controller Support column for titles in the database.

    This would be monumental for indexing games that can be played from the couch or not.

    Heya!

    We actually used to have apps, but our (IGDB) team is quite small we decided to terminate them as we couldn’t guarantee high quality support for them. We don’t plan to refocus on apps until we can guarantee that seal of quality again.

    However we do plan on revisiting and improving our mobile site before then!

    Stay tuned :)

  15. Another release region request. Generally these will almost always be included in a general North American [NA] release, but there are rare exceptions.

    God of War Saga
    (known as God of War Omega Collection in Latin America, released November 20, 2012 and released as a 3 disc bundle instead of 2)

  16. It would be great to mark games or DLCs/Expansions that are no longer available for purchase, because they have been taken down or the stores selling them have been closed.
    In the past™ games were sold on discs - even nowadays, if you can find them, you can play them. Modern games and expansions are often sold online only. If the shops are closing, the possibility to acquire these games is gone, making it impossible for game collectors to legally buy these games. It would be nice to mark games and/or expansions which are impacted by this.

  17. Creat lists that you can share with others.
    For example “list of all new e3 games”

  18. The 'follow' attribute for a game is never returned from the API.
    For example, I would expect the following query to return "follows": 466 (as per the website).

    fields name, follows, hypes;
    where name ~ "last of us: part";
    limit 10;

    Instead, I get:

    "id": 26192,
    "hypes": 325,
    "name": "The Last of Us: Part II"

    Hey there, we don’t actively support Follows (and Hype) as a data point. We need to update our documentation to reflect this, apologies.

    Follow is part of the private endpoint we are sunsetting.

  19. Multiple selectable choices which defines what kind of distribution the game have:

    – Physical media: big box, jewel case only, DVD, paper sleeve etc.
    – Digital

  20. Display the user rating you rated for games in lists; would be easier to see which ones you have rated.
