How it works:
  • Choose a relevant category for your idea and check to see if any other users have already submitted this suggestion before creating your own
  • Be clear with your suggestion, provide examples and solutions to the problem you are posing. Suggestions without actionable feedback may be closed without comment
  • Upvote existing ideas, as opposed to creating multiple similar requests
  • Be sure to share your suggestion with others to gain more support!
  • Note: Suggestions are not guarantees that we will take action on an idea. We will try our best to communicate why an idea may not work, but may not always be able to share that information.
  • Titles that are unclear or unnecessarily vulgar may be reworded to better reflect the request for ease of discovery

  2. A dedicated IGDB mobile app would be great however I would settle for your website to be better mobile optimized.

    Heya!

We actually used to have apps, but our (IGDB) team is quite small we decided to terminate them as we couldn’t guarantee high quality support for them. We don’t plan to refocus on apps until we can guarantee that seal of quality again.

However we do plan on revisiting and improving our mobile site before then!

    Stay tuned :)

  3. Ability to add game-specific controllers/accessories to their page. For example the guitar in guitar hero games, the camera with Eyetoy games, the dance mat for DDR games and so on. Along with the option to set whether the item is mandatory or not.

  4. Company logos change with time and many of them do drastic changes. Suggestion to be able to upload more than 1 logo as well as date input accompanying logos.
Also have a nice logo picture timeline where each logo has a 'from' and 'to' date associated.

  5. The EAN on the back of packages are a unique way to identify different versions of games. This could help to find details about a game and revision.

  7. My idea is simple; adding GameFAQ pages to the possible website additions on the website. This will allow people easy access to both answers to questions they might have regarding the game as well as a walkthrough if needed.

  8. Noting the [CN] China region as well as [KR] Korea, but it is worth adding that releasing in mainland China is and has been EXCEPTIONALLY difficult for western publishers, which is why most devs have historically opted to release in [HK] Honk Kong or [TW] Taiwan and let those sales be an "in" to the region.

This is interesting, so even though TW or HK release are a way to enter the Mainland market, they are actually different? in terms of content and/or release dates?

Sounds like we need to investigate this further.
If you happen to have example of some titles please share them in a comment in here as that would help.

    Thanks!

  9. I've noticed a large number of my games have no critic rating in gog due to gog using igdb for their database.

There also appears to be no way of adding critic reviews or flagging a game as requiring them?

Would it be possible to have this feature and perhaps provide a link to another website that has documented them to speed up the process? This way they can still be vetted by yourselves.

  10. The element used for browsing lists of games that fit a certain page’s criteria (e.g. game engine pages, category/keyword pages, franchise pages) sometimes does not display the pagination, preventing users from seeing any games beyond the first 10 shown. Changing the sort mode can allow you to see a different slice of 10 games, thus verifying that there should be additional pages visible.

    some examples:

    Thanks!

  12. http://retroachievements.org/ is a platform which provides achievements for retro games running in emulators, Currently there are only achievement categories for Steam, PSN and Xbox.

If we had a RetroAchievements category we could add achievements to thousands of games which may never have achievement's otherwise. It would be very cool for things like GOG Galaxy 2.0 integration plugins

    Heya!

This is interesting for sure, we would have to look into it. One thing that comes to mind is whether or not those achievement lists are official, or approved by the original developer/publisher, as this could prove tricky from an IP perspective. Since we would redistribute the data, we’re very careful about the source and provenance.

We’ll be looking into this internally first. Thanks!

  13. This goes slightly with the request for alternate cover options for titles, it would be helpful if various regional titles displayed beneath the main page titles, rather than a small subtext at the bottom of the page.

    Example:
    Title: Fatal Frame (NA)
Subtitle: Also known as: 零 (Zero - JP), Project Zero (EU)

  15. Often when entering different Themes, Game-types, and/or Genres to define or classify a title, it is often up to the Editor's personal definition to what entails each category. Some may feel a "Shooter" only means FPS, others may include Shmups, or anything that fires a gun like Mega Man.

It would be very helpful to have a defined definition for each category display when entering each one into a Edit page by hovering your mouse pointer over the entry.

So, we actually used to have Tool Tips on our game edits, specifically for the Franchise and Series field.

This feature broke at some point during our infrastructure migration post-acquisition, and disabled it.

Now, we absolutely would like to bring this back indeed, and expand to more fields. As we are not constantly adding new data points and are putting a big focus right now on our contribution tools this is an excellent suggestion.

We’ll take a look at the best places to implement them!

  16. Add Brazil and UK region for game release dates, because there are games released specificaly for those regions. Mainly Brazil, because there the Master System and Zeebo consoles have many Brazil only games released.

  18. The remake of work, Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer (IGDB ID: 78341, NDS Shiren) appears on Twitch, but the original, Fushigi no Dungeon 2: Furai no Shiren (IGDB ID: 103496, original Shiren), is registered with IGDB but does not appear on Twitch. NDS Shiren is not just a port, it's a completely new remake, and there's no way original Shiren can be broadcast under the NDS Shiren category.
Twitch shows other remakes, but why doesn't it show Shiren? The reason may be that it's considered an alternative to other games, as shown on the following page.

  20. Hi,
when I check my own channel on Twitch, I like to see the colouredful section name something like "Recently broadcast categories" (in Italian "Categorie trasmesse di recente), with all Game Covers from recently streamed games/categories.

Anyway, seeing I bring lot of indie (expecially less less known ones) I often find they have no Game Cover at all related to their category. And they show and ugly grey empty cover box.

But most of them actually can show a Game Cover on IGDB... or if they don't, well I often upload a cover by myself, if I can.

    The fact…

    Hey!
Thanks for reaching out. This has been an ongoing request, and an obvious fit for IGDB and Twitch.

A separate team within Twitch has this planned. We (IGDB) do have covers as a high data priority and are indeed ready to power Twitch with those covers :)

Stay tuned for future Twitch announcements :)
