Do not impliment the AI auto clip tool
Twitch has implemented a sign up for an AI alpha auto clip tool. This is very unethical in many ways to not just content creation but also to things outside content creation.
I ask twitch to remove this sign up and not engage in any use of AI when it comes to content creation.
Facts about AI usage
- Google’s single Iowa data center alone consumed 1 billion gallons of water in 2024. The first way AI uses water is for cooling. Data centers run thousands of powerful computers around the clock. As these machines crunch numbers and manage data, they generate a lot of heat.
To keep everything running smoothly, water is often used in cooling systems. This can mean circulating water through pipes to absorb heat or using evaporative cooling towers that release warm air.
Ai is trained to use already created content for training with out user consent. This has already been happening on social media. Twitch's AI clip tool ''claims'' they will not use user generated clips with out consent for training to assume what constitutes as high engagement moments for clip creation.
- AI data centers now generate 2.5–3.7% of global greenhouse gas emissions, officially surpassing the aviation industry’s 2% contribution while growing 15% annually.
It is very important that people speak up and say no to the AI clip tool especially partners and ambassadors as this tool is very harmful to the community.
Turning it off as an option is not enough.

Coming from someone who has been 'hired' by some friends who pay me to clip their VODs, clipping REALLY isn't that hard, even on mobile. This is complete nonsense. If a moment is funny or memorable, it is truly not that hard for anyone, besides maybe the streamer themselves, to clip. But guess what you can do? Clip afterwards like I do for people!
This does nothing but add to a worsening AI Bubble, and I'm willing to bet a large sum that it'll also be used to monitor people, their voices, and their content closely.
Twitch has done it again, kings, queens, & themperors: Twitch improving the website challenge: Level Impossible.
Just because we use the platform doesn't mean we consent to whatever the top brass think and want. We are not tools and things to be used.

Allowing AI to scrape video and sound all across Twitch is horribly irresponsible but preventable. Stop this now please or I will leave Twitch.

As an affiliated streamer on Twitch, I think the use of generative AI and, in general, tools that are often adopted by fascists should not be allowed on Twitch at all. I urge Twitch to NOT implement any AI tools like the auto clip feature.

Just like with the Twitch categories' art being stupid, ugly AI gen stuff when your platform is FULL of amazing artists...We do NOT NEED, or WANT Any AI tools. They're killing the planet, they're cheap and incorrect, it's a waste of everyone's resources. The platform has amazing clippers all over, give them more incentive to stick around just like your creators.

I like having a habitable Earth. We only have the one of those. Please don't help make it none. Also, I'm sick and tired of these companies trying to stuff generative AI into things that don't need it. Let the people decide what is clipped, please.

Literally on my hands and knees BEGGING you guys to not go through with implementing AI into clipping. As an artist I bit my tongue when your team replaced ALL of the twitch categories art with AI slop.
But not only is this dangerous to creators, but also to the environment. The new feature for clips have been great. Please lean into letting viewers and creators make their own decisions for content without AI.

This is the most nonsensical thing to ever add. People love to clip things, they capture the most true moments of a streamer. Leaving it up to AI to do it sounds more like spam. Its like when Blerp would play a sound and then clip things out of context. If AI is allowed, more slop will flow out not just on Twitch but to all the other social media platforms. I'm tired of seeing twitch clips on youtube with NO content on it. AI has no heart to know what's funny. I do not consent to it destroying my image or using my voice and content to push Twitch's twisted agenda. Stop the AI bull, and create clips with your own sense of mind.

I appreciate all the votes! But to make sure we don't get away from the lack of transparency concern. As far as I understand this AI can't steal your likeness or content.
I'm more concerned about data retention and it scanning other channels who have it turned off with out consent and twitch using the TOS as a loophole as well as energy consumption. And it influencing more AI tools or AI content on the platform. I'd rather not open a door to AI on twitch when it's currently being abused and there are people that do stream that would abuse AI given the chance.
You can read what they posted about the tool here.

Wow Jeffy-boy, as if making money off of our actual passion and work wasn't enough for you, now you want to get rid of the people with the passion and work just to make a little MORE money. And of course, gotta tick off the BINGO box with "wreck the environment even more than I already did" as well, lest you couldn't flex with your absurdly rich peers.
Ain't a **** one of us asked for generative sloppage, and you know it!

Even the people who use AI regularly have to fight tooth and nail to justify its existence to the vast majority of us who *don't want it* at all; why on earth does anyone think it would be worth it to spend *more* money and push away *more* people for such a short-sighted, useless function?
