Do not impliment the AI auto clip tool
Twitch has implemented a sign up for an AI alpha auto clip tool. This is very unethical in many ways to not just content creation but also to things outside content creation.
I ask twitch to remove this sign up and not engage in any use of AI when it comes to content creation.
Facts about AI usage
- Google’s single Iowa data center alone consumed 1 billion gallons of water in 2024. The first way AI uses water is for cooling. Data centers run thousands of powerful computers around the clock. As these machines crunch numbers and manage data, they generate a lot of heat.
To keep everything running smoothly, water is often used in cooling systems. This can mean circulating water through pipes to absorb heat or using evaporative cooling towers that release warm air.
Ai is trained to use already created content for training with out user consent. This has already been happening on social media. Twitch's AI clip tool ''claims'' they will not use user generated clips with out consent for training to assume what constitutes as high engagement moments for clip creation.
- AI data centers now generate 2.5–3.7% of global greenhouse gas emissions, officially surpassing the aviation industry’s 2% contribution while growing 15% annually.
It is very important that people speak up and say no to the AI clip tool especially partners and ambassadors as this tool is very harmful to the community.
Turning it off as an option is not enough.

Generative AI is the most unnecessary, bloated technology of the modern age, and we don't need it in every facet of our lives. Our viewers and the streamers they watch are perfectly capable of clipping moments they want to clip for themselves.

genAI features are not only detrimental to users' critical thinking, creativity, and independency, but also waste vast amounts of resources on tools that have virtually no use. Moreover, these tools have been known for other ethical issues, not least of them being invasiveness such as intellectual property theft.
Twitch should know by now how inauthentic genAI is. The genAI emotes from last December and the new category thumbnails (Art, Food & Drink, and more) are all known affronts to the community, creatives included.
It is extremely reckless for Twitch to continue entertaining ideas that are vastly unpopular and detrimental to the userbase. I urge them not to continue developing these tools as they will bring nothing but problems.

If this is implemented at all, even as an option that is by default 'switched off', I will no longer give business to Twitch.

I have been on a streaming hiatus due to time restraints for some months, as I do every summer. I'm still mad about the AI-generated category icons, and refused to label my streams under a category since they were implemented. If this new AI feature gets implemented, I will simply not be returning to twitch and I will stream elsewhere. I will ESPECIALLY not be returning if the terms of service and/or privacy policy update to include coerced "consent" to use our content to train it.

Come on, Twitch. You literally give creatives PENNIES while you reap the ad revenue off artists who do this for the love of the art. A love that will never put food on their table with the current system. Don't disgrace us further by forcing AI slop machines on us.

Do not implement AI "tools". They are a waste of money. They are bad for the environment. They are built on stolen labor, and they are built TO steal labor, and they rely on EXPLOITED labor. They produce nothing of value. They make you look stupid, cheap, and untrustworthy. Frankly, at this point, not knowing better is unforgivable. Knock it off.
I am so, so tired of having to do this. The entire internet should not have to babysit corporations and warn them away from bad business decisions. You have money! You have more brains available to you than me! Why am I here telling you this?

I don't need more AI garbage in my life, and having to delete clips created by some robot I don't want, combined with the fact it'd be trained off of me, which I DO NOT CONSENT TO, is frustrating to say the least.
Drop this AI Nonsense

I absolutely have no desire for AI to have any thoughts on when to clip any part of my stream. I want that **** as far away from me as feasibly possible.
Real community engagement, and humane interactions is important to me and my community, and we as real people will never be choked out by AI slop. -

The point of the clip feature, for me, is to see what moments my COMMUNITY values. You can't replace that experience with a robot. Stop this nonsense. Authenticity is at a premium on this platform and you're trying to choke it out. Leave the human element in place wherever you can. this is a bad idea.

To steal clips of users' voices without their consent is blatantly invasive. If this tool is implemented, Twitch will most definitely see a steep drop in users, myself included. This is the most reckless idea a company like this could even consider acting on. Make the smart choice, Twitch. Do not even think of touching AI ever again.

If this ends up being implemented, you'll find out real hard, real fast exactly how large the userbase that will leave the site over ai is.
