Do not impliment the AI auto clip tool
Twitch has implemented a sign up for an AI alpha auto clip tool. This is very unethical in many ways to not just content creation but also to things outside content creation.
I ask twitch to remove this sign up and not engage in any use of AI when it comes to content creation.
Facts about AI usage
- Google’s single Iowa data center alone consumed 1 billion gallons of water in 2024. The first way AI uses water is for cooling. Data centers run thousands of powerful computers around the clock. As these machines crunch numbers and manage data, they generate a lot of heat.
To keep everything running smoothly, water is often used in cooling systems. This can mean circulating water through pipes to absorb heat or using evaporative cooling towers that release warm air.
Ai is trained to use already created content for training with out user consent. This has already been happening on social media. Twitch's AI clip tool ''claims'' they will not use user generated clips with out consent for training to assume what constitutes as high engagement moments for clip creation.
- AI data centers now generate 2.5–3.7% of global greenhouse gas emissions, officially surpassing the aviation industry’s 2% contribution while growing 15% annually.
It is very important that people speak up and say no to the AI clip tool especially partners and ambassadors as this tool is very harmful to the community.
Turning it off as an option is not enough.

Yeah literally this is the worst idea they have ever had which is quote a hurdle to clear. To say this will completely torpedo any goodwill Twitch had is an understatement.

clipping is for the community and viewers of twitch, not for some bot to do.

So you introduce badges for viewers to get if they make clips, and then you introduce a tool to have AI do it?? Literally no one wants AI involved in any part of this.

Twitch, come on, we don't want AI anything. We don't want AI emotes, we don't want AI clips, we don't want AI summaries, we don't want AI captions, we don't want AI dubbing, we don't want AI at all. Please, for the love of god, stop with the AI.
I am more than willing to become a Peertube streamer if this happens. -

Clips are an important part of building and being part of a community for streamers and viewers, nobody wants AI to participate for them. NOBODY is asking for this, nobody wants this, and it'll lead to another mass exodus from Twitch.

This is a wholly unnecessary tool, community engagement and clipping is part of the Twitch interaction and experience for everyone, and pushing it to an AI to do it rips that sense of community from the audience. I also do not believe this AI clipping will work well at all, and it will most likely clip random unnecessary moments solely based on criteria that doesn't necessarily equal a clippable moment, while missing most actually clippable moments. This feels in direct opposition to the recent "clips leaderboard" you added. What's the point of it if a GenAI is just going to forcefully do it for the community?
GenAI isn't what it was sold to be, it is a bot that only works because it's fed infinite data. It takes tons of water, exacerbates the continued rising energy crisis, and pollutes communities. It was bad enough when you shoved GenAI images onto certain categories (such as art, a real slap in the face to artists on your platform), but this needs to stop before the damage caused by GenAI is no longer reversible.
I do not think this tool will function well, and it is proven that GenAI is bad for everything at this point, the environment and our health most of all. Please reconsider and stop using GenAI in everything no one asked for.

This is a tool that's just not needed. Who genuinely is asking for this?
I may be a small streamer but I still have lovely people in my community that will clip my streams, or if they aren't around, I can still go back and clip streams myself. I don't need or want an AI tool to scrape my voice or make clips that will be overall much less quality then me just making the clips myself. Please do not do this twitch, you've already gotten major pushback before about trying to use AI images before for base emotes, and it's just not worth using compared to just letting people do things themselves.

it kinda ruins the point of having a community if you get ai to do everything for you. if we keep taking away what makes it a community, then all we'll have left in the end will feel hollow and cheap. i want to feel connected with people and ai just doesnt do that for me.

This takes all the fun out of clipping and is a dangerous thing to implement.

Streamers don't need this. We have community-based clippers, be they hired or volunteers. This "tool" is unnecessary, and community-based AI on Twitch isn't needed. The support section's already been downgraded with this, we /don't/ need another thing affected. Stop with trying to implement AI into everything on Twitch.

we don't need something like this or at all for clipping. there's a reason there's so many clippers. we don't need AI-generated unlocked emotes, or AI for clipping streams. just. please. stop. this isn't helping.

We absolutely don't need AI for clipping streams. That's what our communities are for.

There's already been tons of concern over the use of AI on Twitch in the past, I have no idea why they thought this would be something people would actually want. Please listen to your users because I have no issues going to another streaming platform for my own stream, and most of my favorite twitch streamers are already multiplatform.

No. No AI, stop ruining our planet, it's the only one we have. I will legit blacklist Twitch if this goes through, and I don't care if there's an option to turn it off.

I have ethical concerns and IP concerns of course, but I don't think those will hold water with the people who make the decisions about whether these features are implemented or not, so I will speak to you in terms I think you will understand.
I understand the American GDP is tied up in Generative AI becoming ubiquitous, and that makes companies (especially tech and tech adjacent companies) believe that it is the future. That's turned GenAI into a sort of self-reinforcing loop- just look at Spotify. They created AI artists whose only listeners are also AI. Hypothetically that could go on forever, but advertisers will realize the interactions are fake, that they don't generate revenue, and there's only so much management and marketing can say before the advertisers decide it's not worth it to advertise on the platform because there are no conversions.
It may not be all at once, but Twitch will bleed money until nothing but the GenAI bots are left. Think past your next quarter and do not implement this change. -

I have already ceased posting content on YouTube due to their usage of AI on creator's content without the permission of the creator.
If this is implemented, I will remove myself from twitch as a platform and find other avenues to stream and create content on that are AI free.
