Getting affiliate should be about getting more followers and not more viewers
set the affiliate program just to 50 or 75 followers because twitch has a massive problem with correct viewer count, I have had like 20 people watching my stream at one time before, all chatting at the same time, and it only counted for like 2 or 3 of them.

I personally think you should get affiliate if you have 50 viewers that come to every stream so it shows your building a community not just about followers and viewers

I think viewers would be a fine requirement if the viewer count was actually accurate.

My Channel has just reached the affiliate requirements, but it still says I have 38 followers, instead of my real count, 52.

@ seanthepro Who decides good content? Hope it's not you, as I see plenty of "mostly" nude women, aholes playing **** games, stupid talk/aka podcasts, all as Affiliates. I think their content sucks, so why are they Affiliates??
See how stupid you sound!
It needs to be easier, and FYI, Twitch, your algorithm sucks balls. When a person gets a report emailed from you showing 22 new chatters, viewers, yet when we come to the "stats" page and it shows only 1 active viewer.....your sh*t blows!

I think I should stay the same because it is easy to get followers but not easy to keep viewers. So if you learn how to keep the viewers you then know how to grow your brand and channel.

I agree, because I’ve had family watch and that was a three of use, and it would most of the time say one person, or I have someone lurking and I was chatting with someone and a few other people telling me they were watching, but it would say only one person.

I disagree. As someone who just started streaming regularly and have not even reached affiliate but already have 100 followers from having my twitch account for a few years, being able to reach affiliate just by having followers would not challenge myself or other streamers to put out good content, interact with others, or keep people entertained so they don't leave. That's nearly the point of the website is to entertain people live. Why should I be given affiliate if I can't average 3 people watching? I understand maybe there are issues where one is not receiving affiliate when they think or know they have reached the requirements. This is a separate issue and should be dealt with, but changing how affiliate works as a whole and making it follower-based should not be the solution.

in the path to affiliate, it says I'm on 48 followers when I'm on 57 now and this is all that stopping me from having affiliate.

@PistachioVT Wouldn't matter. Way to many "cheat" to get Affiliate. Just the other day, seen a "hot" female on FB F4F group w/ only 3 followers when she posted. 8 hours later, half naked pic added to profile, she had over 2k Followers, and her channel, which was streaming was "opinionated" bs, off the wall, nonsense, had 7k Viewers Active. 6 days later, w/o ever streaming again, she reached Affiliate. And on that day, she had barely 10 Active Viewers. So, don't tell me people aren't figuring out how to cheat the system. The system needs to be revamped and fair to ALL. Some of us work, family, commitments, stream "off" prime time. Why shouldn't we be able to make Affiliate also? What makes you more special than the next Joe Smo?? Oh, right, because you actually do nothing but spend you're entire time "Streaming" as a job. Not everyone has 8+ hours to devote to this. And saying "connect" does squat also. We've/I've used Twitter, Insta, FB multiple groups, FB friends listing, and everything in between. None of it worked....So tell me again why Views count more than followers? I get followers easily, but views, due to what I posted above, is NON EXISTENT. This needs a MASSIVE overhaul....

Uh no? The reason it’s viewers is because viewers are more meaningful. You could have 1,000,000 follows but if you can’t even get 3 views it’s useless.

Ken_Koerperich commented
So you all are saying, stream for 7 days, hit the 3+ mark every day during that 7 days. Then not do a **** thing the rest of the month to "CHEAT" the system?? Again, that's sh...tty math/figures on Twitch's part...

It's actually reasonable for straight 3 views, after trying to get affiliated , and being successfully. All I can say is advertise your stream.

Hey all. I hope this makes since.
When it comes to average viewer count per stream, Twitch gets the average from the views you get while you are live.
When it comes to your total average viewers, it is the average from the past 30 days. Here is a short example:
30 days before today, including today:
3/15/21 - 4/13/21
3/15 - 1.5
3/17 - 2.9
3/23 - 2.1
3/25 - 1.9
3/29 - 2.0
4/1 - 1.8
4/6 - 2.7
4/8 - 2.9
4/13 - 2.7
= 20.5 ÷ 9 days = 2.27 This would be your 30 Day AverageNow if you stream tomorrow 3/15/21 will not be included in the 30 days.
3/16/21 - 4/14/21
3/17 - 2.9
3/23 - 2.1
3/25 - 1.9
3/29 - 2.0
4/1 - 1.8
4/6 - 2.7
4/8 - 2.9
4/13 - 2.7
4/14 - 3.0
= 22 ÷ 9 days = 2.4 This would be your 30 Day AverageI hope this makes since. It took me a while to figure this all out and when I did, I focused on it and I finally made affiliate.
Your time is coming soon.

On my other account last week I had my average viewer count at 3.4 and had 58 followers. There must have been some updating issue and when my affiliate stats did update it showed 54 followers and.my average went to 2.99. so now I've missed out.
