Clarify whether or not DJ Catalog exact match is required, provide way of requesting if not found.
The Twitch DJ Catalog sometimes find a radio edit (short version) of a particular song, when a DJ already owns a longer version. From my read of docs, it seems an exact match is required for the DJ Catalog search to be considered a match. If that is not accurate, perhaps docs clarification would be in order. Assuming my read of docs is accurate...
In such a case, when there is not an exact match for any reason such as song length differs from catalog, where catalog has short version, DJ owns long version, allow the Twitch DJ to submit info on their version's information as a way of requesting the Twitch DJ Team to review such content for consideration to add to the catalog.
Such a submission might include, exact artist name, exact title, length, label, copyright year, etc.
Right now, my guess is some labels, artists, publishers are missing out because of inexact matches. When I go down the list, I mumble to myself, "Well, that artist would not be happy with this mismatch as I'm guessing they would approve." :) Granted, I cannot know...
... there may be good reasons for something not making it into the Twitch DJ Catalog... but for a number of mismatches I've seen so far, I'm sort of not believing it's by volition of artist or label as much as perhaps a consequence for how the DJ Catalog is fed, where it's more arbitrary that something has not been added yet (i.e., some obscure thing from 1980s may just not be on initial seeding lists or DB or was deemed not worth checking into).
For some of the mismatches I've seen, I offhand cannot imagine license/copyright holders would not be interested since the material does not currently get much airplay from what I would gather... so it would be win/win.
Oh, and a DJ submission on mismatch feature might help the Twitch DJ Team itself use such information as a way of having Twitch DJ users "vote" for additions to the catalog... if there are many requests for some old 1980s obscure item, perhaps that might mean it's worth the effort to find the label/owners of that item for requesting it be added to the catalog.
Regardless... thanks for feature and feedback channel!
