Preferred/Disliked ad categories
I would really like it if ads were categorized based on content; I love seeing ads for things like pizza and restaurants, but I HATE having to sit through an unskippable ad for a horror movie/show. If ads were categorized, there could be a section in Twitch options where I could move different tags into "show me more" and "show me less" status based on what I do or don't want to see.
Agree, as a parent, sometimes i'm watching with my kid. When there is an ad with an horror movie / game, i have to fastly close the application or tv to avoid him to be scared. It's normal to have ad, i think, but not this kind of ad.
Agree with all the freaked out people; these screaming horror themed ads (even ones that are for innocuous food delivery services!) are ... horrifying. I run a soothing gentle chill atmospheric stream, and I view many such channels, and it's NO bueno. Is there a way to set my channel to not traumatize my viewers? Can I have a non-traumatizing ad preference for my own Twitch exploring somehow?
Agreed! I get ads for the extremely annoying show "warped" that has people screaming at the top of their lungs the entire ad. Its extremely annoying and is much louder than the stream itself!
Os ads eu coloco para rodar de 1 min e meio vai 12 ads para o spectadores, sendo que nem coloco e alem disso fica um ad colorido nao aparece a propaganda que é gerada!!
I have sever nightmare PTSD from scary movie please let me block this ad. I really don't want those nightmare to comeback, they are absolutly horrbile.
Pleaseee can you stop with your horror movies ads?? How can I not get them everytime I pause stream ;___;
If you use Youtube to watch video, you still can report what ad you don't like to watch. Then, that ad won't show on your screen anymore.
But in Twitch, no matter how much you hate that ad how many times you report it. It is still showing on your screen.
For example, i hate all Chinese game so much and never want to play it. Because China have been bullied Hong Kong people over 2 years.
However, you keep showing me Genshin Impact/LOL AD on my screen. Man, it's pretty annoying me.
Is that mean i shouldn't use Twitch and go back to Youtube?
Completely agree. I have a serious problems with horror movies/shows... I dont want and dont need this kind of ads... please twitch remove this asap.
100% in agreement. The last thing I want when turning to a nice chill stream is to have trigger-worthy advertisements slammed in my face. People who've experienced real-world violence don't need to see it. Many horror movie trailers are not only triggering-worthy, but they are also gross and completely inappropriate for younger viewers. I've actually shut off streams rather than be subjected to some of these adds.
I completely agree, that's why I came here.
I really don't like horror movies or trailers and I just refreshed the page like 5 times trying to get a different ad.
I don't want to watch these types of ads, I would be fine with watching any other, just give me the option to "Give Feedback" or something.
It'd be really nice to just not have to see ads for movies like Halloween or Don't Breathe 2 etc. I'm completely fine with watching ads as they support twitch and streamers, but don't really appreciate being shown content that I make a point to avoid at all costs for personal reasons.
Yes please. As someone that runs a channel where parents sometimes come in with their children to watch together,I would like the ads displayed, to also be a safe rating for my community.
Google and YouTube has implemented this personalized setting to see fewer alcohol and gambling advertisements.
Streamers and viewers should have this option.
Be on the right side of history and support the health and well-being of your customers and employees with this option.
Advertising that can scare
I think it's okay that I'm supposed to watch commercials before a stream (despite being a Prime member). But I don't think it's okay to show ads for horror films. This can be disturbing to certain people, for example children, young adults or especially people with anxiety disorders. They can suffer enormously and are always triggered by such things.
It must be possible for the user to block this kind of advertising and see something else instead.
Yes, there are age restrictions, but people with anxiety disorders are not really catered for.
This should change to allow everyone to enjoy using Twitch.
Having PTSD, horror movie ads are triggering for me. Just mentioned this in the Twitch chat I was in, and someone else said they have issues with bright flickering lights as shown in the same ad as I was seeing. This idea as presented would not only make watching ads more comfortable in general if we are forced to watch them anyways, some of us actually suffer from these ads in the current system. Reading the other comments here, there are more examples of this beyond just anxiety or photosensitivity. I feel this idea should get implemented asap and I can't believe OP mentioned this 6 years ago already and it's still not a thing. I'm seriously considering ad-blocker in the meantime, for health reasons.
I love watching ads on Youtube where the ads are tailored to what I actually want. However, sitting through horror movie ads on twitch is one of the worst user experiences I've ever had on a platform. I'm 32 and male and haven't seen a single horror movie from start to finish in my entire life and plan on doing so. Watching horror film trailers or anything that is excessively gory and violent is just purely unacceptable. Please add a remove ad category option so I can see ads that I actually like and support twitch the way I want to support it. horror film ads will only make me hate twitch more, I will not watch ever a single horror movie film because I saw an ad for it on twitch.
Just saw an ad for candy man and another for another horror movie that i muted. With october coming up there really has to be an option to opt out of horror movies.
People have been asking for this for years now. I don't want to see Horror ads at 1 am right before bed. I don't care how much Candyman or w/e movie is paying you guys. These ads should not be on Twitch or should be able to be avoided. I'll watch Door Dash 100x before I watch a horror ad.
It goes to show Twitch cares more about money than the viewers since this hasn't been fixed yet.
I'm not sure where to put this, alcohol ads should not be played on a majority minor website, it shouldn't be targeting the adults that do come.
