normalize Ad volume with content volume
Not as frequently as before but still often, Ads play which are dramatically louder than the broadcast content. This is an annoyance, interferes with other people in the house, and frankly makes me more likely to mute the ad and go do something in a different tab.
Normalizing volume levels with stream average volume or peak volume wouldn't take a huge amount of processing power and would fix the problem entirely. It's required by the US's FCC in other broadcast mediums, but it's really just a quality of life improvement for the viewers and a mark of good production.
A majority of ads on web and TV apps should now have normalized sound. We are still continuing the work on this and will update the status again when it is fully complete!

Ads recently caused a ruptured ear drum and deafness thanks to them being 150x louder than the content i was listening to with my sennheiser headphones on. THANKS TWITCH. P.S. TURN YOUR AD VOLUME DOWN SO THAT IT IS INLINE WITH THE CONTENT WE'RE LISTENING TO ON OUR HEADPHONES THANKS.

I bet its likely you've seen an increase in ads being muted by users recently. I as a headphone user and REGULAR user of twitch can tell you why. Its because your ads are literally causing ear ringing and blowing our ear drums out. Lower ad volume to be inline with the CONTENT WE'RE listening to with our headphones or i'm just going to mute every single ad until you fix it.

Affiliates already have a hard enough time gaining followers/subscribers, as soon as someone enters stream they’re hit with a massive amount of ads. If an affiliate has their ads disabled that is their choice to not benefit from the revenue so ads should stay off for someone with a low amount of subs.

Specifically the Monster energy ads are significantly louder and with headphones on it physically causes pain at times.

Every time adds come up it is so loud, it physically hurts and need to turn down my volume more than 50%! It is unreasonably and only makes me mute all of my adds to completely ignore them.

It seems like its okay for the first 5 seconds-ish and then something happens and it goes into overdrive and is twice as loud as the content. Like the delay between the start of the ad and it maximizing to fill the screen. When it just starts its the same volume as the stream but then it doubles it. Hope feedback helps. TY Mouse

Please I beg on my knees stop making ads to be That Loud. I understand that you want my attention, but I just associate the product or service with the awful sensation of getting jumpscared.

These ads are way too loud. I set stream volume to minimal and it breaks my ears with ads. I have to address this. This is not normal.

7 years after post and still not fixed... it seems to be even worse recently with audio only ads.

My suggestion (see below) was incorrectly combined with this one. The suggestion in this thread is about normalizing the ads relative to the stream. The suggestion I posted is specifically about keeping the volume level consistent across subsequent ads (it appears to be a bug).

When multiple ads play in a row, the volume in each subsequent ad resets (to the max I think). For example, if I set the volume to 10% on Ad 1 out of 4, I still get blasted with 100% volume on the Ad 2 out of 4 and onward.

EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOUR ADS IS TOO LOUD. And lord knows you're not going to pay to replace my earbuds or speakers, let alone take the time to just balance the ad to match what the streamer is putting out to the world. You literally capture every other aspect of these people's lives and streams and you simply cannot be bothered to properly level out your noise output?

Just sat through 6 ads on a channel. Each one was radically louder than the initial stream, causing me to lower the volume, only for the next one to start back at maxed volume again -- it ignored the volume slider. By the last ad, I had the slider 1 tick from mute and it still started maxed. Fix this.

Can't hear streamers talk but ads sound like they're 50% louder than the streamer. If I have the streamer on at 100% and an advert comes on, without warning of course, its freaking deafening and physically painful to hear.
Congratulations! Soon all your users will be deaf and they won't be able to hear your ads.
This started happening about one month ago for me and its making me consider avoiding Twitch entirely until its changed or fixed because it really is painful.

ads are several times my streams volume. My voice is as loud as I can make it without distorting. I would love to play mid rolls if the ads weren't so many times louder than my content. Especially with the new incentives. I feel like I'm missing out. Half of my viewers watch while sleeping or resting and I can't risk losing the majority of my supporters to even manually play them on my channel.. I've done as much as I can to fix it on my end, would love to be able to adjust the ad volume on my end so they aren't SO loud for my ear bud users or relaxers. Seeing that this has been a complaint for many creators for many years, I feel like we aren't being heard.. no pun intended.

Haven't we affiliates been included in the personalized ads offer program yet?
So far I still haven't received my proposal. -

in EU its quite common that ads NEED to not raise volume. But on Twitch many ads are blasting volume up by a lot. To a point I had to take earbuds off and even then I could hear the ad pretty clear. In Czech republic there are regulations for the volume ads can have. So I dont see a reason why not follow that rule

Volume of adverts is much louder than the streams, even if the volume of the stream is right down the volume of the adverts is much much louder. not only is this very annoying it is also illegal!
