normalize Ad volume with content volume
Not as frequently as before but still often, Ads play which are dramatically louder than the broadcast content. This is an annoyance, interferes with other people in the house, and frankly makes me more likely to mute the ad and go do something in a different tab.
Normalizing volume levels with stream average volume or peak volume wouldn't take a huge amount of processing power and would fix the problem entirely. It's required by the US's FCC in other broadcast mediums, but it's really just a quality of life improvement for the viewers and a mark of good production.

Setting this to a partial release status as the majority of ads on web and TV apps should now have normalized sound. We are still continuing the work on this and will update the status again when it is fully complete!

Ads are WAY louder than the streams. Especially Taco Bell ads. Could this be fixed? Some people listen/watch calm streams or even try to sleep with them playing, and then a super loud ad comes on and is quite annoying.

I actually have to mute every single ad roll that plays. I have an audio monitor so I can safely say ad volume is on average 200% louder than any broadcast I watch. Since it comes out of nowhere, it is quite painful to my ears. I understand not having ad-specific settings to prevent circumvention but we NEED some way to user manage audio volume. Not to mention I cannot report or interact with ads in any way so the few specific cases that are even louder than the others I cannot report. Ads should be MINIMUM 20% quieter than the average volume of the broadcast. Or at least provide us with an ad-specific volume control setting. Doesn't need to mute, I would be happy with a slider going from 50% to 100% of whatever our current slider is set to on playback audio.

Did development on this stop?
How in the name of all that is holy can it take 7+ years to develop a feature as simple as this!?
(Hint, it can't. You either stopped on purpose, or you're just neglecting old tickets which isn't a good sign either). You just caused me permanent hearing damage, so thanks for that!
The offending ad in this instance was one of the Sony ones. -

Still having this issue regularly where the ad volume will go to max even though I have the stream volume set much lower. This is highly disruptive as I generally have twitch playing on the side while doing other work when suddenly the ad will come on stream playing at 4-5 times the volume level I have it set for on the stream itself.

Idea was posted 05/14/2015, it took you over 5 years to get partial solution. 3 more years passed and still while playing content on headphones there's a hearing loss risk. Sooner or later someones gonna sue you. Imagine having some chill noises playing while you sleep and suddenly 5 times louder there comes an AD. No way I'll buy the advertised product

Ad volume is still too loud. It's dangerous for your ears.

The FCC requires the regulation of ad volume and its obnoxious there hasnt been fines for the almost double the decibel ads regularly playing

I also got a complaint from one of my viewers about this issue. It felt terrible that I can't do anything for them.

All ads to me ignore the actual volume of the stream, if I have the stream really low, the ad will be much louder, if I have the stream maxed, the ad will be a little softer. Still needs work

I think this actually works now to some extent. I went to a new stream, ad started on low volume, went to next stream and ad was a bit louder. might still be problematic, but at least not inside one stream. you could for example add volume because you can't hear the ad and next one comes out louds as heck after you jump to next stream.

And as an afterthough, i'm not watching anymore. There are a lot of ads coming on now so its like waiting for your ears to be destroyed and very annoying. Cant watch while doing anything else. need more people on the team to resolve this, i like watching streams

Seen some progress, but recently seems like the volume is bouncing up again. too loud, I have to mute it if Im playing another game, but even with it MUTED, the commercial's volume comes on and its very loud. Should penalize advertisers if they set their volume so loud, ridiculous, this isn't a television set with people sitting around eating popcorn waiting for jonny carson to come on.

When turning the volume down on ads (which is required when twitch ad volume is always louder than the content), every new ad in the string of 7 ads you decide to play raises in volume. I can have an ad on 5% volume but as soon as a new one plays, it raises to 50% without adjusting the slider. I've turned it down for a reason, and have closed twitch an insane amount of times for both ad volumes and ad quantity. You're driving away your content creators with the new sub payout structures and you're driving away viewers with your ridiculous ad practices. This ship is sinking.

This is still an ongoing problem. A recent Monster ad just about deafened me. It was at least 400% the volume that I find acceptable.

This is still definitely an issue. I don't have the option to mute ads on phone and they deafen me if i have headphones. I dont mind watching ads, but this is pushing me to get an ad block on my phone. It is literally hurting my ears when I have headphones on.

It says the audio is normalized with the content but that is absolutely not the case. At 20% volume the ad is playing at over 100% of what my computer would allow the content to play at. Who's bright idea was it to tune the ad audio to 500%? Change it quick before you damage more people's ears. If it happens again to me again I refuse to spend any more time on this platform outright.

It's like the "partial release" resolution is to fix one ad and call it a day.
I literally report the same ads over and over again across multiple channels. I'm beginning to think that this suggestion has fallen by the wayside since it's been over 2 years since that response was left and no one is going to bother fixing ad volumes.
