I haven't been watching streams on twitch for a couple months now, i forgot why, but as soon as I came back and the ghd ad played I remembered. Why are some of the ads so obnoxiously loud, the other ads are fine. Does their sound team not know about audio balancing. getting my ears blasted

July 10th 2026, this issue is now worse than ever. I don't even think it's a bug, I think it's Twitch trying to stop people turning down the Ads. If I have set a volume for my Twitch Player, it should stick to that Volume. The ads are deafening and reset every time an Ad plays, even on the same Ad break.

Here we are 2 years later it still increases the volume on every ad. Some people need to be fired. I find it hard believe NO ONE can figure it out. This site has only gone down hill...

Still wondering if you're literally ever going to do something about this. Whoever "Ana" is that replied clearly had no sweet clue what she was talking about lol it happens every single time I have volume at a lower level - suddenly the ad blasts at 100%. It's intolerable and this thread is pathetically old with absolutely nothing being done to fix this accessibility issue.

Just want to chime in on this, as of 04-08-2026 this is still an ongoing issue. I work in a cube farm and keep my streams fairly quiet to not disrupt my co-workers. When the ads come on at full volume, the whole floor can suddenly hear my computer. This is both embarrassing and has led to reprimands of how I spend my work day, even though I'm only listening to twitch from work with the window either minimized or otherwise not visible. For a number of reasons, it would be a shame to have to stop watching entirely because of the need for ad revenue.

I am getting sound blasted like 6 times between ads because I lower the volume during streams, it jumps back to 100%, despite displaying 75%. Even after I set the volume during the first ad, it jumps back to 100% on the next ad. It's so bad I'm having manually tune my headphone physical volume down just to keep it manageable for the duration of the ads.

The recent Twitch Turbo advertisements are extremely loud. I would excuse other companies creating loud advertisements but the very site itself? Absolutely not.

9/5/2025 Ads played while watching stream and Volume jumped to max in between each ad. This caused temporary hearing loss for me because my system sound was balanced for other applications. I understand the necessity of ads to pay for the services provided, but this left me with a sour experience tonight and I don't want to spend money on a platform that will continue to cause me discomfort to watch.

It's ridiculous that this is still not fixed over TEN years after the issue was first reported. One can only assume that this is intentional and meant to be as intrusive as possible so that users' attention are drawn to the ads. Horrible antihuman practice by a a corporation with no morals.

And once again another media outlet denies or refuses to follow the rules set by the FCC regarding the loudness of ads compared to the program being watched. Funny how Twitch will ban streamers for any ToS they feel has been violated, but willfully break a federal law!. The only way to remedy this is to fill a report to the FCC. I reported Youtube awhile back and then again and again, finally enough people reported their BS and they changed their max volume policy. But of course it requires the intervention of law aId threat of fines to get these Corporations to follow FCC guidelines. As is i have stopped subbing to anyone I follow, and Twitch can reap the capitol gains of obnoxious advertising instead.

This issue is still ongoing today in April of 2025. I can have the volume for the video set at 5% and then an ad starts and it jumps to 50-100% even though the volume slider does not change. I have to for each ad played reclick the volume to get it to adjust to the volume I have it set at. This is not okay since when watching with headphones it can blowout your ears when an ad starts and plays at a much higher volume that you have it set for. Twitch Staff please actually fix this issue!

As commented immediately below, today, Feb. 27, 2025, this is still happening and the "resolution" from Ana above FROM TWENTY TWENTY THREE is a blatant lie. It's 2025, you absolutely did not fix this in 2023. It continues to be a horrendous accessibility issue. I know Twitch is broke, but this issue is way more important than guest star ffs.

I'm not sure if something changed recently, but as of today, Ads play at 100% volume regardless of the volume set on the player. When resetting the volume on an Ad, the subsequent ad plays at 100% volume again, despite the volume slider remaining at ~35%.

This still happens every day and is going to cause hearing damage. I have streams at 20-40% volume and ads are easily double the volume and every ad resets the volume back up even when set to 1%

US users - look up the CALM Act. Try to file a report with the FCC. EU and beyond - you probably have more protections than we do in the States. Make a complaint and the violations might be enough to motivate Twitch to act.

this is a serious problem! make Ad volumes the same as the stream you are watching or make them 20% of what they run at now across the board. I have the stream set at 20% and the computer master volume at 32%... The ads are so **** loud it sounds like the computer is set at 60%-70% volume then drops to 30% with the next ad before blowing my ears out again.

06/12/2024 - Just encountered this issue, I lowered the volume slider then seconds later an Ad played with a higher volume, I lowered the slider again, another ad played with higher volume wtf. Please fix this issue it can damage ears... If this is on purpose, it's disgusting.
