[Feature] Stories on Twitch
Stories on Twitch is a new feature in the Twitch mobile app that helps you stay connected with your community when you’re not live. Stories let you share photos, clips, or freeform content using text, custom channel emotes, and backgrounds that expire in 48 hours. Creating stories is currently limited to Partners & Affiliates who have had at least one stream in the last 30 days. Streamers with at least 30 subscribers (including gift subs) will also have the option to create sub-only stories. Learn more about stories and current eligibility requirements in our Help Article: https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/stories. We'd love to learn what else you'd like to see so share with us your feedback.

I'm sincerely sad to see angry comments. Over the past half a year, Twitch has finally begun to catch up with large platforms. I've been streaming for 6 years and I've been hearing the same thing all 6 years: "twitch doesn't improve, it doesn't introduce new features, it's impossible for small channels to grow."
Finally there is an opportunity to catch up with other platforms at least a little - everyone is dissatisfied again.
Someone wrote that twitch is not a tik-tok or instagram. Exactly! Twitch did not stand next to the platforms that make it possible to make any content and grow.
"Oh no, twitch will turn into a tiktok!" You said.
Yes, I will be happy if twitch gets at least a little closer to the success of tiktok! Why should I make content on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and a hundred other platforms to bring at least a few people where there is nothing but live broadcasts. Any other platform has tools to engage the audience, but not on twitch. We have a hypetrain for making money for big streamers and a complete lack of prospects for the little ones.
Vertical videos and stories are a trend that the Internet has been living for the past few years, whether you want it or not. Let the twitch grow, let it try new functions! And stop whining that it used to be better and that stories take up too much space!
Someone else wrote that he would unsubscribe from all streamers who would post stories and make selected clips.
Great! I will only be glad if people who do not want to my channel grow will unsubscribe from me. Finally, what is already everywhere began to appear on the twitch. I hope this is just the beginning! -

I agree completely with other users. It's in the way of why I use Twitch. I too have unfollowed people to get rid of the Featured Clips noise and I will do the same for this.

I'll be unfollowing or unsubscribing from every streamer that shares content via Stories or Featured Clips, because they take up enormous screen real estate and push down live channels, the one thing I actually use twitch for. Stop trying to be YouTube and tiktok, you're never going to take their place.

Another unnecessary feature that takes up my screen estate without an option on user end to disable it.
Unfollowed streamers that used it, including official Twitch channel.
Put these obtrusive features onto the Discover tab instead of the main Following tab.
Let the Discover tab be the place where people go to, DISCOVER new content and features. Youtube learned this quickly enough to stick shorts in its own tab so people who want it can go there, and it works a ton better than implementing it this way on the main feed.
It's bad enough the top of the main tab is now flooded with ads, now we have to deal with these poorly thought out features too that no one asked for.Once again, every feature you implement NEEDS user end control to opt out, not just streamer side activation/controls.

Wow. Awesome. So I‘ve unfollowed every single streamer that uses Featured Clips because you decided to clutter my limited screen space with one horrible feature. Now you‘re adding a second one that takes up half my screen (and this time it even blocks all this space with a white wall when no one is using it), because the first one already was such a MASSIVE SUCCESS and such a BRILLIANT INVENTION. Thanks, I hate it. In fact I despise your new features ruining my app more than I can spell out in a public comment. Will I have to completely abandon my mobile apps and switch to browser use in order to see what makes Twitch Twitch - the LIVESTREAMS??? Please check the IQ of your employees before they‘re allowed to make UI decisions in the future. We‘re trying to watch Twitch Livestreams, not another youtube-tiktok-instagram-ADHD app. Put all this BS in separate tabs so we can use our Following page in peace. I don‘t understand what you‘re gaining from making life obnoxious for your mobile users... It‘s not money for sure, because the more you ruin our experience with useless features that take away from our actual needs on your platform, the more users will leave.

Not a fan of the added clutter on my following page, especially if there's a banner ad. If stories are going to stay I'd rather they be either in a different tab, be a small icon like instagram, or at least have the ability to choose which streamers I care enough about to want to see their stories.
edit: if we get the ability to only hide individual people's stories, I want to be able to hide the ability to even post them. The "+ My story" will still take up space that could be used to display people I follow who are currently live.

Get rid of this nonsense or at a minimum allow me to hide it. I use Twitch for watching streams. If I want "Stories" I will follow my streamer on TikTok or Instagram or Facebook or the next thing. Allow me to keep my experience clean and streamlined. I do not want this "feature". I most certainly do not want it it be the first thing I see when I open the app.
Twitch will NOT become Weibo or replace Twitter or Discord. Do not try. Do your thing and do it well. You're not going to be able to compete with the other social networks. Twitch doesn't have the reach. You will waste millions trying to make this happen. And annoy faithful users like me who've been here since the very beginning in the process. Yes, I remember justin.tv.

When viewing unviewed stories, after they end, don't play already viewed ones (like instagram)
probably could make them take up less of the screen, just show the profile pictures (like instagram)

Could you please consider removing the "stories" feature and bring back the extended browse section on the mobile app. I actually enjoyed scrolling through the extensive list of games and seeing something that stands out instead of the trending games. I also think that the livestreams section on the application defeats the purpose of the discover tab and front page.

Stories sounds like an interesting feature but the fact only partners and some affiliates can use it is why I’ll never really care for it. Another feature released to the small percent that’s already made it while everyone else on twitch never gets to use it. Like moments this is dead on arrival. You can’t get excited about a feature if you as the user can’t use it as well.

Add option to remove stories from ui I don’t want it cluttering up my screen, in fact I don’t want this feature at all. Or at least put it on a separate page. Thank you.

So now we're going to have:
> Starting today, all Twitch users with the latest version of the app installed will see the new stories shelf at the top of the Following page.
along with,
> Viewers will see a new “Recently Featured Clips” shelf on the mobile Following tab from streamers they follow.
Will we still get to actually see the channels we follow on the "Following" page? How far down are we going to have to scroll? or will it all just become "more short form video optimized for mobile as the entire internet turns into a TikTok clone 30 seconds at a time"If I wanted to watch TikTok videos, I'd join TikTok. But I don't want TikTok. I don't want Shorts. I don't want Stories. I don't want vertical videos 30 seconds at a time in some attention-deficit-non-stop-stream. I don't need every platform on the internet abandoning what makes them distinct and all offering the same copy-pasted TikTok cloned content from everyone else. With all the creators just reposting the exact same content to every copycat platform 6 or 10 times over just to make sure they aren't missing the opportunity to catch an eyeball on the latest fad each platform is going to push in front of everyone non-stop!
