1. Revise the `channel.subscription` topics

   Request

   Organize channel.subscription topics to allow for alert like notifications to properly be provided. What displays in chat should be able to be mimicked via EventSub topics without having active tracking or additional api calls; Provide missing data where needed; Create new topics to fill in the gaps.

   Current Scenarios

   Brand New Subscriber: If a user subscribes for the first time in the channel, we get an alert as soon as they sub. This is incidental that it works properly for stream based alerts, as we are actually receiving the payment transaction rather than the in chat event.

   Prime Gaming Resubscriber: If someone resubscribes with Prime Gaming, we get not only the channel.subscription.message when they decide to share the message in chat, but also the channel.subscribe event as they are technically a NEW subscriber when they first click the button to resubscribe. As it was explained to me, this is because the subscription lapses usually before they are able to share the renew event in chat. So we get the event for subscription start, as well as the message event when they do decide to share it. Without active tracking up to days before the event looking for channel.subscription.end there is no way to properly react to the subscription alerts in a stateless manner.

   User Gifts a Sub: We receive a channel.subscription.gift event which is expected, but have no way to link to who gave which sub nor which channel.subscription.gift event was its pair.    User updates/upgrades their subscription: Currently in the case of PubSub no notification is sent for someone continuing their subscription from a gift or at times changing their tier to higher/lower.    User resubscribes automatically, but never shares: It is perfectly fine for a user to not share their resubscription event in chat as often times it is automatic when they do renew; however, for metrics such as goals or otherwise this data is crucial for accurate tracking.    Important Notes

   The events should be "stateless", meaning that active tracking of subs that expire should not be needed to ensure correct event usage. Otherwise, this requires a server like runtime which defeats the future "transport agnostic" approach and would require a server. Chat like notifications should be able to be built from eventsub without long term tracking, or other API calls; such as listening for subs, cheers, point redeems etc. Out of this list of proposals below, the only events that are intended to be used in an alert/stateless like environment are channel.subscription.message, channel.subscription.gift, and channel.subscription.update. While the others can be used, the data would not be as transparent as to where it came from as it isn't provided in chat which may confuse viewers if used in that fashion.

   Proposal

   channel.subscribe Changes

   • channel.subscribe would become channel.subscription.begin (or.start) to fall inline with other EventSub topics as well as to give a more granular expression of what it reacts to.
   • Subscriptions starting up, that either are new or have lapsed in the channel, would be signaled here. In theory this would present no change to the current implementation, but should be documented that this should be used for metrics rather than alerts.
   • duration_months for multi month subs could be useful here to determine if a "long" term sub ended.
   • Gifter info to provide better metric data (more than just is_gift), would allow better understanding of retention.

   channel.subscription.message Changes

   • channel.subscription.message provide a mimicked data stream of what would appear in chat, meaning re-subscriptions or new subscriptions. The documentation would be also need to be changed to reflect this.
   • New Subscriptions
     • A "default" message object would be provided, meaning that the message.text would be an empty string (not null) and the message.emote array would be an Array.empty
     • cumulative_months as well as streak_months would be 0.
   • Gifting info would also be needed
     • is_gift:boolean - Indicates if the subscription was a gift. Default: false
     • is_anonmyous:boolean - Indicates if the gifter was anonymous. Default: false
     • gifter_user_id:string - User id of the gifter. Default: string.empty
     • gifter_user_login:string - User login of the gifter. Default: string.empty
     • gifter_user_name:string - User name of the gifter. Default: string.empty
     • gift_subscription_id:string/Guid - Id associated with the channel.subscription.gift event. Default: string.empty

   channel.subcription.end | Changes

   • channel.subscription.end is for expiring subscriptions. This in theory should provide no change per se in use, but data such as what was documented in the "channel.subscription.begin changes" would be beneficial here as well.

   channel.subscription.gift | Changes

   • When referencing the change mentioned earlier providing the gift info, there was mention of a gift_subscription_id. This id would either be the event id or a new field in the channel.subscription.gift event called gift_id. Ideally a new field should not be needed as the id should be the event itself, but it depends on the infrastructure packing this together.    channel.subscription.update | New Topic

3. Allow Channel Editors to use Helix Raids API

   With the new Raids API, it should mirror IRC where channel editors can trigger raid/unraid. Currently, this is not supported (need broadcaster user access token). Until this functionality is added, I will not be migrating to Helix Raids

4. Modify EventSub's channel.follow to include shoutout info

   Within EventSub's channel.follow event, it would be nice if there was info about if the follow originated from a Shoutout, and who the Shoutout was from.

   This would be useful for stream overlays, so the notification can say something like "[Viewer] followed, thanks to [Shoutout Origin]'s shoutout!"

6. Add Tag to USERNOTICE subgift if Part of a submysterygift

   Rarely, a race condition in which a USERNOTICE with a msg-id of subgift will come in before the submysterygift it shares a msg-param-origin-id with. This can cause unexpected behavior in multiple situations. Rather than try to force the submysterygift to always be sent first, I suggest adding a tag that marks a subgift as part of a random or bulk gifting in some manner. Even a boolean value would be enough for software to know to wait for the submysterygift to come in before processing the subgift. Otherwise, a forced delay is required on all subgifts, even if they're actually independent (direct gifts to specific users), to detect such hiccups, and that delay relies on client connection latency and Twitch server response time, both of which can be volatile.

8. Video Component Anchors

   The ability for the dev to set and/or provide options which allow the configuration of a video component's iframe anchored position on the video player, left, right, top, bottom, etc, as well as optional constraints to what anchors are available. Currently only right side of the player can be used.

   I believe this option would increase the potential use-cases for video components as different sections of real-estate can have different levels of importance for whatever your video component has been designed for.

   Alternatively adding pop-out functionality to video components.

10. Extension Helper isFollowStatusAvailable / followStatus

    The extension can request subscription status as a feature. If the feature is enabled and the user is linked the subscription status can be looked at using Twitch.ext.viewer.subscriptionStatus

    It would be handy to have similar functionality for following status. Whether the viewer is following or not.

    There is helper functions for actions.followChannel and a callback for action.onFollow

    It could be that an extension has additional features if the viewer is following a channel that are not available to viewers that are not following.

    To figure out if the user is following the channel currently would require getting a moderator:read:followers and look up using an EBS. However, for subscriptions you don't have to jump through all that, it's just available in the helper under the right conditions.

    It think it would be really handy to have this same sort of functionality as the subscriptions status but with following a channel or not.

11. Add total amount of bits & subs to hype train events

    Please add the total amount of cheered bits and subs that occurred during the hype train to the channel.hype_train.end event. These numbers are already visible above chat and in the activity feed after the train finished.

    It currently only contains top contributors, but not overall numbers from all contributors. The top contributors could be improved as well, as it only contains a total integer. When that total is 5000, it could be either 10 tier 1 subs, 2 tier 3 subs or a mix.

    The overall total integer is even worse as it has bits mixed in there as well.

    Preferably I'd get the percentage it ended on as well, but we could calculate that from the last progress event if need be.

12. Re-add created at, streak and/or expires to Check User Subscription

    In Twitch v5, the Get User Subscription endpoint contained a created_at and a streak for the current user subscription for a broadcaster.

    Helix, lacks this functionality, and thus it is impossible to determine how long someone has been subscribed for, and also impossible to determine if they've renewed their subscription.

    These fields are imperative to some applications, especially ones that want to externally reward members monthly for each month they've subscribed. Please return these fields to the endpoint!

    server.py can not be executed because it is written in Python 2x. Also, changing "start": "HTTPS=true PORT=8080 react-scripts start," causes an error. Wouldn't it be better to modify it to write in .env.

15. Increase check automod status limits

    Currently the limits for the normal account type allow to check 12.5% strings per minute compared to just sending those via chat to test if they pass automod restrictions. This drops to 2.08% per hour. (This drops to 2.5%/min and 0.42%/hour if the ability to have VIPs is unlocked)

    The current rate limit types also seem to assume that larger streams are affiliate and or partners which is not necessarily true as there's game publishers who hold game release streams with easily 50+ viewers while not being partner/affiliate and channels who have decent amounts of viewers but do not stream often enough to reach partner/affiliate. Both of which are having to deal with unrealisticaly low limits based on the account type compared to actual activity.

    These limits are also limit 3rd party tools as it is not feasible to preventively check messages sent by automated systems against a basic level of automod rather than having to build an own database to limit the amount of messages that could be breaking the Community Guidelines. Lets take a chat bot as example, on creation/modification of a custom command the bot could check if the provided response passes a basic level of automod and subsequently allow or deny the action based the result. This would lower the amount of potentially Community Guideline breaking messages as public general use chatbots like Nightbot/Moobot are and will continue to be used to try spreading malicious messages. While being at at scales where it is impossible to moderated every created/modified response in a timely manner (if at all).

    Considering the above I suggest:
    - The account specific rate limits to be removed as they're based on a general but not always correct assumption of viewer/msg count per account type and severely limit the exceptions.
    - The Limit per hour to be removed and Limit per minute to be raised to 200 per minute to align with what is currently possible via chat in an 1 account situation.
    - (Optionally) create a form where larger applications can request ratelimit increased when consistantly getting (close) to the ratelimits.

    This all in an attempt to create Twitch a safer platform while also reducing the amount of effort developers have to go through to be able to achieve the same.

17. Embed player ads

    I'm wondering why Twitch play placeholder ads on embed player instead of the usual ads on Twitch platform. There are more ads played on embed player and even then it's just a placeholder so I don't understand what is the point of showing the ads.

18. Embedded VOD Chat

    If you embed a Live twitch broadcast on another website, it includes the chat along with it, which is great! But if you embed a VOD on another site, the chat is absent. Why? I see no reason why you wouldn't at least have an option for it in there! Let embedded VODs have their chats!

19. Make embeds work on iOS web based apps (like ionic)

    While it works on Android, it is still impossible to use iframe embeds on web-based mobile iOS apps. The reason being that iOS' WKWebView expects <schema>://<host> in the CORS headers returned by Twitch. Twitch uses the parent parameter to generate those headers. Unfortunately, iOS prevents the use of http://, https:// and file:// as schemas and forces us to use a custom schema like ionic://localhost (or anything else) for accessing local files.

    The request is to add the ability for twitch embeds to return a CORS header that can match a custom scheme like ionic://localhost.

    I read through all forum topics on that subject but none provides a working solution. Please see the following discussions for an in-depth explanation why the current state of twitch embed cannot work and a suggestion for a solution:

20. EventSub Hello World

    Without code samples/examples, I find the documentation minimally useful. I've got a clientid, clientsecret, appid, appsecret, token? Bearer token, eventsuburl, callbackurl, etc. While I appreciate you listing what RESPONSE might look like, it would be nice to see at least a basic "hello world" code sample. For example, since minimal auth (none?) is needed to subscribe for when a streamer goes live, it seems that would make a nice example of the overall flow.
