I still think the reply feature is non-functional. Not only it still tags the original comment of the thread every time which is extremely bad, but also literally any remotely active chat renders your ability to see anyone replying past the first reply impossible whereas just tagging the person is more effective.

On mobile it’s even worse because the feature just isn’t there, it literally just looks like a normal tag on the original comment of the thread and you can’t check the thread.

I would actually raise the bar higher than allowing to disable it in my own chat, but also just prevent anyone from using the feature on any of my messages period. Either that or you make it functional on all platforms and no longer tagging the original message but rather the actual message you clicked on. It could still make a thread but it needs to be clear who’s replying to what within that thread, otherwise just don’t make a thread.

Please remove this feature. Its very confusing. It tags the original comment every time and creates confusion for everyone.

The reply function also makes things VERY hard for a blind streamer I mod for, she uses TTS software to read her chat and it reads the WHOLE replied-to message again.

I would love to turn it off. I actually hate that it tags the original comment on every message, it even does that on mobile but mobile actually doesn't have the thread so it's just EVEN MORE confusing. A simple reply to one message with no threading would be much better imo. Now I see the pros of the thread for busier chats, so the feature can certainly still have a spot, but I still want it off of at least my channel, I think it's not worth it in its current state. I actually actively avoid using it anywhere I go even if someone used it to reply to me, because it kills the thread and keeps it not confusing.

Chat reply is awesome, really helps keep the conversation going and allows the chat to self moderate and add some context to their messages. <3 love this feature. I'd also love to see some type of +1, -1, system to help reward those who are adding valuable thoughts to chat.

Can we get an option to completely hide the reply feature? if people still want it allow them to have their threads but let us that do now want it to hide it and keep things the way we like it. Twitch isnt a BBS, its a chat.

Still don't like it at all, when everyone in chat uses it. it becomes very confusing and hard to moderate chat. I get that certain streamers might like it. so please let us opt out/in as streamer.

Personally, I think the chat reply feature is a terrible addition to the chat platform here on Twitch.

Having that said, perhaps instead of turning it off completely, there might be a way of keeping it for those that do like the feature. Make it channel specific where the streamer (or editors) can toggle it on or off for that specific channel.

Still just as bad, copy paste doesn't work. id rather just have people @ me then have to look through a thread to see what someone is saying to me. now when people reply to me i don't even bother trying to see what they say because its more effort just to look at a reply.

Its still really bad, small chats its not really needed since you can still easily see the whole of conversations happening, and big chats it adds more to chat then is already happening and makes it harder to read and mod. They're also easier to miss in fast moving chats and if you at any point get linked in one, all following replies also tag you which makes it hard to know which you actually want to pay attention to.
I get some people might actually want this but at least allow streamers to turn it off.

its still annoying and still needs to be removed. the reply itself it useless since with user name badges and the like you get MAYBE 2 or 3 words from the message....

I have received the update for On-Hover reply buttons and I would still very much like a way to disable the functionality entirely. When I'm scrolling up while modding, the reply icons popping up slow down the scroll and visibly lag the page. A reply is something I'm never going to use in a chat room, so the feature existing for me is a waste of time anyway.

As it is, I've used a userscript to inject CSS to override the reply button with display:none and I've worked around the issue with it popping up, but the lag is still there as it decides to show the button each time (even though it's invisible).

Please give us a way to disable the feature on the client-side.

It messes up on-hover browser extensions like Yomichan. I would like it removed.

Из-за нее теперь невозможно выделять текст сообщения из чата, что в свою очередь не дает возможность выделять текст написанный на всевозможных языках для их перевода, так как у меня это делалось на правую кнопку мыши. Для модерирования чата это очень ограничивает возможности быстрого перевода иностранных зрителей, которые пишут как позитивные так и негативные комментарии. Пожалуйста сделайте возможность выключения этой функции.
