How it works:
  • Choose a relevant category for your idea and check to see if any other users have already submitted this suggestion before creating your own
  • Be clear with your suggestion, provide examples and solutions to the problem you are posing. Suggestions without actionable feedback may be closed without comment
  • Upvote existing ideas, as opposed to creating multiple similar requests
  • Be sure to share your suggestion with others to gain more support!
  • Note: Suggestions are not guarantees that we will take action on an idea. We will try our best to communicate why an idea may not work, but may not always be able to share that information.
  • Titles that are unclear or unnecessarily vulgar may be reworded to better reflect the request for ease of discovery

  2. Likeable chat messages. We must get a chance to like a chat message while we are watching a stream. And we will be able to see who gets most likes or dislikes. In my opinion, it definitely provides much more chatting, viewers. You should get this feature, you should make it happen.

  3. In slow-moving chat the “More messages below.” text obscures the last message. Maybe it would be better if it was a bit lower down so we could read the last msg?

  4. Please, most of times happen that writing a messages in the chat I write a wrong messages. It can be helpful the chance to edit the messages in the 5 or 10 seconds to correct it and write the right message.

  5. There should be an option on twitch where you can have the chat sidebar smoothly scroll up, rather than move up immediately each time a new message is sent. The current view makes it so hard to follow along, as you have to constantly flick your eyes upward in some of the more quick moving streams.

The new option could speed up/slow down based on how much comment traffic is going on at the moment. Seems like a very easy idea for twitch to implement

  6. I would be very grateful if the twitch chat had a line break function. The commands and automatic messages would be easier and more friendly to the viewers.

  7. The ability to upload any image to the chat of any streamer, which has a sample duration of about 30 seconds, which by default can only be uploaded by the content creator and channel moderators and which has a filter in case obscene things are uploaded. Images from twitter or any platform could also be shown and displayed as the cover of the Clips in the chat.

This could show in the chat, with command, more personalized badges or a random face of any follower / subscriber that the streamer has previously created, without strictly diverting attention from the broadcast.

  8. It would be very helpful if chat mods were able to exceed the 500 character chat limit. This is especially so when trying to input something into Nightbot but having the message to be too long and not being able to say what you want to say.

  9. Based on my experience watching a lot of DJ's currently streaming the chat can get very busy and this makes it hard to keep up with conversations.

Could a 'VIP room' option be added where there is either a separate chat for any Subscribers/VIP status members or could some of the other users chat be filtered or offset to make picking out chat from certain users easier?

The username colours help a little but as this is repeated a lot in a busy chat the username has to be read to pick out comments from friends.

  10. When writing a blocked term, the user gets this message:
"Your message wasn't posted due to conflicts with the channel's moderation settings."

When writing a long message, the user wouldn't be able to know which one of the words is blocked on the channel. And taking time to find out which word is blocked, and reformulating would be too complex.

The error message should print out the banned word(s) if the user entered one or more banned words, such as:
"Your message wasn't posted due to your usage of the following blocked term(s): ....."

  11. Modding for a channel has opened my eyes to a new idea, which I feel would be amazing. In chat, in my case, it's typically a select few that cause the need for slow mode. Doing so punishes the entire chat, and in certain circumstances can **** others off that weren't the offenders. The ability to add slow mode to specific users only would be great. Click on their name, and right where you can time out or ban the user, add slow mode with the length of time between messages. Let the rest of the chat do their thing…

  12. Twitch streamers should have the ability to change the highlight color of the "highlight message channel points feature." This would be a setting that allowed full control over what color the highlight would be. If the highlight was a dark color, the text would be light and if the highlight was light, the text would be dark. This allows chat to look slightly different from stream to stream, allowing for a more unique look to chat. It's makes chat slightly more personalised to the streamers liking.

  14. I suggest a sound effect when someone "@s" or 'pings' you in the chat you are currently watching. Same goes with receiving 'whispers' as well.

  15. Too many messages in chat make the stream spammy and makes it hard for streamers to see what is going on.

It also makes it hard for viewers to hold conversations with each-other or even follow what is happening.

If viewers could stay in smaller chat groups, they could hold actual conversations in those groups.

And if those groups could upvote comments, the most-voted comments could be made visible for all users in every group, working like a spam filter in which only the good comments are made visible for everyone, reducing spam drastically.

  16. Twitch policy requires the chat to be moderated at all times, which is why trolls tend to hate-raid a Twitch channel's chat, then report it to get that channel banned and at the time of writing, it is 100% legitimate, a current threat and the only way around that is to put your chat in emote-only mode.

The "Close Chat" feature I am suggesting ends that. Under this feature, channel editors and owners may use the /closechat command to shut down the chatroom, preventing all users from sending messages in the chat, and only the channel editors and owners may…

  17. Already back in the golden days of IRC - late 90s, early 2000s, it was common sense for both IRC network operators, and custom bots run to moderate channels, to have built in protections against hateful and disrupting attacks and other common abuse of the service.

These kind of protections would include mitigations against:

    • Mass creation of accounts

    • Trying to connect to the network too many times from one IP

    • Too many joins/messages/similar to a single channel

    • Mass spam from multiple automated or manually operated actors

Twitch should look into the already widely adopted best practices and implement similar practices…

  18. People always click to dismiss the chat rules without reading them. I kept mine short and still managed to be able to close it without reading the single sentence.

We would like a setting somewhere to add a maximum of thirty seconds (debatable) of waiting for them to be able to read the rules and then chat.

I could see this being an issue with raids, BUT rules are more important, in my opinion.

  19. Users in chat get a badge on the day marking the anniversary of their account's creation. (Basically like Reddit Cake Day.)

  20. Trolls use stream points to highlight their offensive messages. When a moderator bans them, their regular posts are deleted while the highlighted messages remain visible. The highlighted messages should be deleted as well.
