How it works:
  • Choose a relevant category for your idea and check to see if any other users have already submitted this suggestion before creating your own
  • Be clear with your suggestion, provide examples and solutions to the problem you are posing. Suggestions without actionable feedback may be closed without comment
  • Upvote existing ideas, as opposed to creating multiple similar requests
  • Be sure to share your suggestion with others to gain more support!
  • Note: Suggestions are not guarantees that we will take action on an idea. We will try our best to communicate why an idea may not work, but may not always be able to share that information.
  • Titles that are unclear or unnecessarily vulgar may be reworded to better reflect the request for ease of discovery

  2. I was horrified this week when a long term viewer was accidentally banned because a mod had a faulty mouse. Luckily it was picked up on VERY quickly and the user unbanned however it means they are now on banned lists, lose certain streaks and had a negative experience that could have been avoided.

I do however understand the need to ban users quickly.

As a work around, could there be a 'check' when banning users that meet certain criteria based on either their channel role or follow age to prevent accidental bans?

Better yet, having a settings page where…

  3. Moderator access should include the /raid command and heres why.

    Community Building and Networking:

Raids are a fantastic way for streamers to connect with each other and foster a sense of community. When a streamer raids another channel, their viewers are redirected to the target channel. This cross-promotion helps creators discover new audiences and build relationships.

Moderators, being integral members of a streamer’s community, should have the ability to initiate raids. By doing so, they can actively participate in community-building efforts and contribute to the streamer’s network.

    Assisting Streamers:

Moderators play a crucial role in maintaining chat order, enforcing rules,…

  4. It makes cleaning up followbot raids and identifying suspicious accounts immediately so much easier. Half the time the bots stop viewing, so you can't pull them from active chat. Being able to click on the username from the Activity Log and ban the user directly is so much more straightforward.

  5. The new "banned users cannot watch the stream" might be worth adding to the shield mode system.

So you throw shield mode on and then banned users auto enables if enabled in the shield mode configuration

  6. Currently, users can block whispers from strangers (which most seem to have enabled), where strangers are not "someone you follow, someone you subscribe to, one of your mods, or one of your editors".

It would be helpful if mods for "someone you follow or someone you subscribe to" were also included in this list but only be applicable if mods utilize the Quick Whisper button within Mod View. Limiting it to only when the Quick Whisper button is used would keep it from being abused outside of the stream.

This will allow mods to send warnings to users without calling…

  7. Would be nice if we could assign a "super mod" of sorts, so they can do extra things, like un-mod other mods? Not every streamer has the time to sort out grievances in their communities, especially in the mod team, so a "super mod" would be nice to have so they can get rid of toxic people from the team, without having to burden the busy streamer.

  9. A filter for the activity feed to flag followers and the ability to multi-select new followers so we can batch select fake followers so we can ban & remove them easily.

  10. Mods need to be able to raid, set stream titles, and unpublish VODs, not Editors.

These are functions concerning the management of a live stream, and have nothing to do with Video Editing.

If a streamer even has a Video Editor, they're not watching, or managing the streams, so they have no need to do these things.

Further, most streamers don't understand why a mod can't raid out, or change titles, or unpublish VODs if something happens and the channel might be at risk in the moment, while streaming.

And trying to explain why they need to grant "editor" privileges…

  11. I think twitch has to improve the way new accounts are created. Recently in a chat I moderate there was a guy creating accounts with the username composed with the streamer's name followed by an insult and despite being banned every single time, he keep creating new accounts every 5 minutes. It's ridiculous that twitch account creation system doesn't prevent that behavior from happening.
Also, after reporting every account one by one, they only removed one of them (the third one), and not the original account nor de subsequent accounts.

  12. So my suggestion is to add the ability for accounts to be automatically restricted from chatting based on the email address they used to create the account. I know there's the problem with privacy, personal data etc. The solution is to replace email domains with identifiers unique to every channel, so that emaildomain1 identifier in one channel is different from other channels. If a ban
evader uses for example maildomain1.com to register multiple accounts, moderators should be able to see a unique identifier based on that maildomain1 and flag all future accounts using that maildomain1 as restricted.

    Also there should…

  13. Moderators or streamers have a "report" button that notifies twitch staff of a viewbot or followbot attack and it can ping a staff member to come and watch the channel to see the attack in action so that the attacker cannot report the channel for viewbotting/following.

  14. Inspired by a real life incident today having to ban a person for calling the streamer a 'dirty wh**e' in French, moderators having to do the extra leg work to translate languages they don't speak on a third party website to curb abuse could be massively simplified by having an option baked into the system to detect language and offer a translation as required would make for an excellent tool to keep our communities safer.

  15. Give moderators the ability to temporarily suspend the ability for new viewers/chatters to follow the stream. This would be a useful feature for when followbots and/or hate raids attack a channel, the mods could put /followsoff (or similar) in chat to make the follow button unavailable for that stream. This would prevent mass followbots, prevent hate raiders from following, and prevent the painful process of streamers having to break away from their content and deal with turning off alerts and other mitigation measures. The mods could then use /followson (or similar) to reactivate follows. (There could be a "default" where…

  16. So in practice this idea seems simple and would be effective. The basic premise of this would be that the Streamer can toggle on/off a feature that would require someone to have a twitch account and be following to view the content otherwise it would just be a black screen that says "Please login and follow to view the following content". I think this could help prevent harassment on various levels as I will describe.

    Scenario 1 - Stream Sniping
So for anyone who plays online multiplayer games, stream snipers can ruin a stream quiet fast. Whether it be Fortnite,…

  19. Find a way to enforce homoglyphic word filters. These UTC8 combinations are crafted in a way to subvert word filters using extended character set. No idea the feasibility.

  20. Allowing the editor to delete the moderators messages

because some moderators may make a mistake by placing a wrong link, mistakenly suspect it, or make a mistake in anything, so the editor can delete the message.
