Stop allowing SLEEPING streams & moderate Never ending sub-a-thons
There is an epidemic on Twitch whereby creators are using a legitimate GAME CATEGORY to refer to them sleeping. Now, popularized by never ending Sub--a-thons which is another problem for the platform as its meaning as a one-time power support event has been subverted to just copy-catting the meme of its initial intention.
For sleeping, just create a category of its own and DE-MONITZE the **** out of it seeing as this is the LAST thing that advertisers and sponsors want as there is no activity on screen that is going on even though there may be some chat activity (which is usually just fake bot chat activity that gets un-moderated) More times then not its a VOD replay which is also a scam of sorts as its not always posiblie to tell a VOD is running during a SLEEP session vs a normal LIVE portion of the stream. Sleep streams also cause other liabilities as typically chat is un-moderated as mod teams need to sleep also. Currently it is uncontinable that creators could be using a legiitimzte IGDB game category for sleeping which hurts the actual game developer because Discover category feed/listings are all sleeping creators with lurk/viewbot view counts.
Endless sub-a-thons are bad healthy streaming practices and should not be encouraged at most they should be 48hrs max if a single person or 96hrs if Team/org based events. Sub-a-thons should have ends, period. A never endig sub-a-thon over multiple days/weeks is just normaly daily streaming with scammy gimmick which ultimately lead to Sleeping or VOD Reruns and no LIVE creator activity which is a terms violation that is currently never enforced by trust and safety.
