Sensitive social issues Bullet points need to be removed, not 'clarified'
it doesn't matter how much you 'clarify' the point of the final two bullets, they are not fit for the political category especially when contrasted with the other things in the category. Putting peoples rights in there opens up marginalized groups to hate and bigotry. We want the points REMOVED and twitch's response is completely missing the point the community has been making.
At what point does something go from 'personal experience' to 'too political'? if a streamer talks about their own right to an abortion being taken away where they live, is that personal experience or political? it is entirely subjective. Is a trans person talking about their experiences with HRT 'fact based'? Who determines this? The bigots who will undoubtedly mass report said streamers to shut them up?
"intermittent mentions of (...) sensitive social issues are not required to have the politics and sensitive social issues label" how long is intermittent? most streamers i watch like to have small conversations with chat about social issues, how long can these chats go on for?
I don't understand why you refuse to just take out the 'Sensitive social issues' point. It's what the user base is asking you to do and it is the right thing to do.

How can you give voices a chance to thrive when you demonetize them for their very identity.

Hey Twitch. What happens when the rabid redditors you capitulate to decides the LGBTQ+ community is not accepted anymore? Are you going to take revenue away from them as well?
Why did you all went to college for just to capitulate to nobodies who are not in this platform? It feels like you only care about gay and brown people as long as the advertisers are happy. You never and will never care about them once your bottom-line is affected.

Claiming this is due to advertiser pressure when we know who it's actually coming from at the end of the day shows Twitch has been itching to do something this obviously racist for a long time.

You need to stop punishing marginalized content creators for speaking on their existence! Especially LGBT people on twitch who share their experiences. You are making it impossible for them to get monetized for no reason. In addition, this is clearly Twitch caving to bad-faith pressure from outside actors trying to deplatform progressive content creators on this app. It's also insane that you don't allow the Iran or Venezuela tag to be monetized when there are so many people across many diasporas that want to find community on here too. Are they not allowed to make money in their online communities for the crime of being from a country the US state department doesn't like?

An AMERICAN streamer, who is Iranian due to WHO HE WAS BORN TO, was demonetized for having Iran as a tag on his stream. Twitch did not pay out his ad-revenue. By doing this in conjunction with these new rules, Twitch is saying that this man's identity, his personhood, is political. You are reducing him to a certain political status. You are saying his EXISTANCE AS A HUMAN IS POLITICAL AND SHOULD BE DEMONITIZED. What has gotten into the people who run this platform?? do better. please. This is dehumanization.

How spineless can you possibly be to cave to bs like this from the ADL. America has people from all over the world and their existence is not politicized.

This policy serves as a declaration that people's status is debatable.
Twitch, answer very ******* clearly: Is personhood up for debate?
Not legally. Morally. The answer is a moral one, not a legal one.
If an analogy helps, consider these attacks on the queer community similar to attacks on science in the classroom. It is LEGAL in many places to REQUIRE that the subject be framed as controversial (or sensitive, perhaps?) when it unequivocally is not.
If you need help growing a pair, I'm sure you can get plenty of advice from your incredible trans community. They've seen some **** and all while facing doubts to their very HUMANITY.
Sincerely, a cis-het white male who will be spending his immediate future trying to mitigate an escalating genocide against his dear friends.

Twitch please please realize that our identities are not up for debate. Our existence is NOT a political standpoint.
We are not existing to just be about politics.
We are existing to be ourselves.
Twitch needs to get better.

Are you folks REALLY going to cave in to the ADL's faceless decisions instead of consulting with your guilds or ambassadors without an inkling of inclination to check for motives?
You can't just sweep what happened in October 21st under the rug and remain reactive over point 4 of their public statement.
Otherwise what is even the point of having them in the first place if they're going to be thrown under the bus?
Kindly remove the ENTIRE document, not just the two contested points. This is dumb on SO many levels.

Twitch twitch twitch. We all expected you to backpedal immediately on this obviously stupid decision. It was easy enough, you just had to ask AI to write you an apology and pretend you didn't shatter the trust of the users who make the content for your platform. You never needed to care yourself, you just had to
1) not write easily exploitable rules that can segregate streamers based on their identity
There is no number 2, the only number 2 I see around here is your management. I have no idea why or how you ********* this badly, or how you thought anyone didn't see this for exactly what is was. We all read this correctly, we know what you are saying about the policy. did you really think you could just pretend we misread something? how braindead are you? If you can't see why this is a bad idea, then fire yourself and get someone who does.

Current bullet points and tagging policy lacks the kind of nuance and enough attention to context that such hot topics require. I understand WHY Twitch wants to regulate this, but the problem stems from a lazy approach given this kind of stuff requires human eyes and choices and Twitch has a notoriously horrible history of not spending money, time or manpower to police their own site and a history of inaction or weak action on some things and overreaction or overreach in others.

Twitch is a place I as a streamer have enjoyed a great deal of connection and joy with numerous communities who have accepted me as a trans creator and let my voice be heard. Until twitch removes their placing my existence as controversial, and states that I am a protected class that is not allowed to be discriminated against, I am at a constant risk of hate raids and other attacks due to who I am. I was not able to participate in PKMNPRIDE this year due to risks of safety for myself and my wife.
I am not "sensitive content" and neither are my rights or the rights of those in my community. Do I have to label my own game dev steams as "politically sensitive content" just because it features queer romance and trans characters? Or is that also "personal life experience"?
Stop trying to have your cake and eat it too Twitch. It makes you look bad and our community tempted to go elsewhere. I don't want that to happen to a platform that I love. Please, do better.

People are just going to lie about what is their lived experience and then content moderators are going to come into your channel to clock you to see if you see gay or trans enough to not be lying, this is ridiculous
Seems like January can't come fast enough for the content moderation team at Twitch HQ, huh?

Twitch, you need to do better. LGBTQ+ people like myself should not be dehumanized and have our existence labeled as "political" and something to debate. Making it seem like advocating for our rights is the same as others advocating for taking away our rights is disgusting and pure bigotry. I am not "political" or "controversial" or a "sensitive topic," I am trans. I am not the one making my existence a political issue, you are. Acknowledge that human rights are not something that should be up for debate, and stop leaving the door open for bigots and fascists to argue otherwise.

Twitch, you've missed the ball here. You're still creating a clear path for bad actors to resist and accost people simply for existing. Being trans/gay/an immigrant isn't political any more than being human is political. Lived experiences do not need an exemption. REMOVE THIS CLAUSE. Sharpen the focus specifically on inflammatory messaging and disinformation instead.

as a longtime twitch user since 2012, this goes against what the platform is supposed to be about. a place to escape and enjoy content made by all types of people. these bullet points only invite hate mob mentality towards marginalized groups and do not protect them if they were to speak on their life experiences, or their family history, their medical care etc. stop politicizing various types of people and focus on the bad eggs pushing narratives. not the average streamer who might be lgbt, an immigrant or etc. they don't need extra harassment, especially when future months come up like black history month etc. this policy is a hotbed for drama to be invited and people to get harmed on the platform. thanks
