Punishment for account suspension evasion should be relative to the suspension being evaded
As articulated in the title, I advocate for a nuanced approach to suspension evasion, one that accounts for the severity of the original suspension being evaded. Currently, the consequence for evading suspension is uniformly indefinite, regardless of the duration of the initial suspension, even if it is as brief as one day.
My proposal entails a differentiated response: users evading temporary suspensions, ranging from 1 to 30 days, would incur an additional penalty of 30 days. Conversely, individuals already under indefinite suspension who proceed to evade it should face heightened repercussions or remain under indefinite suspension, as previously determined.
It is my contention that subjecting users to indefinite suspensions for evading short-term ones is unjust. Twitch serves as a vibrant community for numerous individuals, and the uncertain nature of the appeal process leaves users unsure of their prospects for reinstatement into the platform. Twitch's Trust & Safety guidelines underscore various egregious offenses, such as violent content or the issuance of serious threats, which warrant stringent action. I maintain that evasion of a temporary suspension should not be equated with such severe transgressions.
Furthermore, I posit that implementing this framework would alleviate the burden on the Safety Operations teams by streamlining the appeal process, as users would automatically regain access after serving the prescribed additional time.
