Blocked Users shouldn't see my messages
Currently, if I block a person on Twitch, they can still see my messages in Twitch chat. I think it would be a lot better if a person cannot see the messages of someone who has them blocked, in the same way I can't see their messages if I have them blocked. It should go both ways.

it's shocking that TWITCH allows sometimes-dangerous people to still be able to see your stuff.

same as if you ban people from seeing your channel, they are banned for a reason! most dont know about the box you have to tick saying they are not allowed to see your channel! twitch start protecting people!

It blows my mind that this is the current functionality, if it were my dev team, I would tell them that is a bug and to fix it. "Blocked" means Blocked, still seeing messages is not Blocked, that's just muted/ignored. We have these words for a reason, shame on Twitch for allowing such a bug to persist for so long!

Absolutely. Hadn't thought about/realized that this is not already the case.

give us the privacy we deserve as people and as streamers

This one hundred percent should be a thing, Cause there are people that don’t get along with other people and just maybe they both stumble across each other on your stream. Then it’s making a not so chill vibe for the other people watching. Could do a lot of damage losing viewers and we all know you never know wht viewer is gonna stick around untill you give them a reason to.

In my opinion, it should be standard practice for blocked users to be unable to see messages from those who have blocked them.
While I understand that it's a "public" space and there are ways to circumvent it, why make it easier for them?
Additionally, this would give some peace of mind to those who block others for valid reasons. -

I wholeheartedly agree with this. I would emphasize what Moocow1980 said. this is a fantastic example of how the current state of blocking people can negatively impact the wider twitch community. if a blocked individual is harassing the person who blocked them in chat, the blocker has no idea, but the rest of the chat can see it. This could lead to other people responding to the blocked person telling them to stop and the blocker will be left confused and/or might be able to figure out that someone they’ve blocked is interacting with their chat messages. This has the potential to be very harmful.

I agree with this. When I block someone, there is a reason for it. But if they can see my messages, they can continue to negatively "converse" with me, and it's not fair that I can't see what they say without unblocking them. So yes, when one side blocks, it ought to be both ways.

I want to stop a certain AI-powered bot from reading my messages on Twitch.
Blocking that bot should prevent them from accessing my messages via the API. That way I can avoid what I type in a streamer's chat from being used to train their AI machine-learning model.
The natural extension of this is that blocking a human should also prevent them from seeing my messages in the interface.
But I mostly care about blocking specific bots that I choose, whilst allowing the vast majority of harmless bots to still act normally on what I do in chat.
