Intentional misuse of tags ie. Vtuber tag on non-Vtuber
There has been a recent rise in streamers misusing the tag system, most noticeably with non-Vtubers using the Vtuber tag. This makes discoverability more difficult for both streamers who are actually Vtubers, and viewers trying to use the tag system to find Vtubers. Even prominent streamers are misusing tags, so this behavior has been spreading. I'd like to ask Twitch staff to please enforce action on the misuse of tags to help the streamers and viewers who are using the tag system as intended. Banning streamers from using specific tags they have been caught and verified to be abusing them might be a helpful solution to consider.
Hi, thanks for flagging this and sharing your suggestion.
We share and understand your concerns about how the intentional, repeated misuse of tags can undermine the purpose of the tags product itself. Tags are an important discoverability feature for communities, and a powerful way for all Creators—but especially those that are underrepresented—to express their personal identity and creative vision for their content.
We also do not feel Twitch should be the judge of Creators’ personal or creative identity, so we typically only enforce against the misuse of tags when it is associated with other behavior that violates our Community Guidelines such as hateful conduct or harassment.
That said, as the VTuber community’s experience demonstrates, there are limitations to this approach and we are actively investigating additional steps we can take to protect and improve the integrity of the tags feature at scale, without infringing on good faith Creators’ personal choice to express themselves and define their content.
Our goal is to have more to share with you about the tags feature later this year.

Vtubing is a relatively new and growing community, to see others who aren’t in the community take advantage of that is disheartening. I really hope twitch can put a stop to this!

While it's flourishing in popularity, Vtubing is mostly still a small and independent creator space. Letting larger content creators who already have amassed huge audiences siphon viewer count from potential up-and-comers through such means is harmful to the entire streaming platform.

The fact that this is massively being mis-used by the same people who discriminated against VTubing for years is incredibly irritating and twitch is doing nothing about this being AGAINST TOS. Twitch needs to get themselves together and watch these streamers as closely as they watch us.

There is a streamer who is using the vtuber tag whilst name calling actual vtubers when they ask them to just remove the tag. I don't understand why nothing is being done about this??

It's the same thing as doing a hot tub just chatting stream and marking it down as playing Elden Ring. It's false advertisement meant to draw people away from popular categories into their stream at others' expense.
Honestly, Twitch needs to stop thinking 1 or 2 day bans will fix this stuff and start holding streamers accountable for being bad actors.

It's at the point where when I go to the vtuber tag, I'm lucky to see a vtuber per row of what's in the category. This defeats the purpose of the tag completely and has made discoverability for anyone who IS a vtuber very difficult.
This is unfair and it needs to stop

I think it needs to be said the streamers misusing these tags are doing it for two reasons. They are doing it to try and profit from the influx of viewers the VTuber tag gets despite they themselves not being VTubers or they are doing it to try and meme/harass/put VTubers down. Both of these reasons are against TOS.

The fact that I'm sure someone has gotten in trouble for this and as made their title to "real VTuber" while not a VTuber and also still doing IRL stuff shows the fact they're clearly abusing the system.
