Intentional misuse of tags ie. Vtuber tag on non-Vtuber
There has been a recent rise in streamers misusing the tag system, most noticeably with non-Vtubers using the Vtuber tag. This makes discoverability more difficult for both streamers who are actually Vtubers, and viewers trying to use the tag system to find Vtubers. Even prominent streamers are misusing tags, so this behavior has been spreading. I'd like to ask Twitch staff to please enforce action on the misuse of tags to help the streamers and viewers who are using the tag system as intended. Banning streamers from using specific tags they have been caught and verified to be abusing them might be a helpful solution to consider.
Hi, thanks for flagging this and sharing your suggestion.
We share and understand your concerns about how the intentional, repeated misuse of tags can undermine the purpose of the tags product itself. Tags are an important discoverability feature for communities, and a powerful way for all Creators—but especially those that are underrepresented—to express their personal identity and creative vision for their content.
We also do not feel Twitch should be the judge of Creators’ personal or creative identity, so we typically only enforce against the misuse of tags when it is associated with other behavior that violates our Community Guidelines such as hateful conduct or harassment.
That said, as the VTuber community’s experience demonstrates, there are limitations to this approach and we are actively investigating additional steps we can take to protect and improve the integrity of the tags feature at scale, without infringing on good faith Creators’ personal choice to express themselves and define their content.
Our goal is to have more to share with you about the tags feature later this year.

Do better Twitch. This is a blatant example of your "big streamers" abusing a tag because of their recent rise in popularity. They're trying to piggyback off the success of others.
Set an example and punish these people before they keep abusing your ToS and make streaming on this platform more difficult for mid to small streamers. Do your job.

Twitch, this is already against your TOS, Show creators your enforcement is fair by actual dealing out some consequences to the big streames that breach TOS.

Twitch, if you don't take action on this you're just proving us right that you're biased with certain streamers.

Streamers shouldn't misuse tags.

Streamers who already have massive followings, and then abuse the tagging system like this, is doubly egregious. I understand the need to game the meta of Twitch discoverability, but if you are already successful, this is just plain greedy.

This isn't fair considering big streamers like Mizkif is using the tag when he already has a huge audience as it is. Allow smaller people like us who are trying to reach that same level of audience have a chance.

Misusing tags is against Twitch TOS so something should be done about this. While it can at times be a gray area between PNGtubers and VTubers with models, someone doing more standard 3D webcam streaming should is absolutely misusing the VTuber tag if they are using it.

I want to become a vtuber in the future, but want to try using a model before giving the big step. It seems unfair for a lot of people that the tag is losing its purpose by people who just want to get attention for the wrong reasons.
Vtubers work hard. They deserve better. More respect to them.

i personally think something should be done about since every tag has its own meaning and the vtuber tag should have the meaning to be used by vtubers only and not IRL/flesh streamers. sometimes i intend to not use the vtuber when i stream on console since i cant use my model which i used to debate about it, but i think its better if i dont since i am not using the model in those moments, but either i think if u use the vtuber tag, u should specifically be a vtuber and if ur not than i think u should be restricted from using and abusing it for views or clout. everyone wants to build theyre twitch and channel to maybe make it as theyre job someday, so twitch pls make it more fair to the people that use things fair and work hard to make theyre dreams come true

Misusing tags and categories is already against the terms of service, we shouldn't *have* to go this far to get the staff to notice what's been going on. Reporting the misuse *should* be enough. The fact that these people are not only misusing a tag created for a specific type of content that they aren't making, but are also using it as a way to talk smack and harass the people the tag was made for is ridiculous. That's two things that are against the terms of service, and yet nothing seems to actually be being done.

This is ********, I'm not a streamer but if you are a Vtuber then use tag for it, if not then don't ******* do it, you dipshits.
It's that fucken simple, don't people think, no wait they don't -

I understand that people want and need visibility, especially when this is their livelihood. But taking away visibility from people who earn that tag through major investment and/or major effort is both misleading to audiences and disrespectful to fellow streamers.

Why give us a VTuber tag if you aren't going to hold your T.O.S. against people intentionally misusing it?

Literally was introduced to two "vTuber's" under the names "IJenz" and "ElisabeteTV" and was extremely disgusted in their content and the fact they are misusing the vTuber tag that's 1. Not meant for IRL streamers, theres a tag for that **** and 2. They both don't use a rigged 2D/3D or PNG model... PLUS I thought twitch was heavy against sexual content on their service. This ain't OF. Get this **** sorted.

This tag is being abused by partnered, well-known and well-off streamers on Twitch, some of whom are openly mocking and making fun of actual vtubers. These people do not NEED the vtuber tag, they have not been a part of the vtuber community, and have literally no reason to be using the tag. They are hurting the actual vtuber community and smaller creators who are trying to grow. Please do something about this. It’s really not acceptable.
