Intentional misuse of tags ie. Vtuber tag on non-Vtuber
There has been a recent rise in streamers misusing the tag system, most noticeably with non-Vtubers using the Vtuber tag. This makes discoverability more difficult for both streamers who are actually Vtubers, and viewers trying to use the tag system to find Vtubers. Even prominent streamers are misusing tags, so this behavior has been spreading. I'd like to ask Twitch staff to please enforce action on the misuse of tags to help the streamers and viewers who are using the tag system as intended. Banning streamers from using specific tags they have been caught and verified to be abusing them might be a helpful solution to consider.
Hi, thanks for flagging this and sharing your suggestion.
We share and understand your concerns about how the intentional, repeated misuse of tags can undermine the purpose of the tags product itself. Tags are an important discoverability feature for communities, and a powerful way for all Creators—but especially those that are underrepresented—to express their personal identity and creative vision for their content.
We also do not feel Twitch should be the judge of Creators’ personal or creative identity, so we typically only enforce against the misuse of tags when it is associated with other behavior that violates our Community Guidelines such as hateful conduct or harassment.
That said, as the VTuber community’s experience demonstrates, there are limitations to this approach and we are actively investigating additional steps we can take to protect and improve the integrity of the tags feature at scale, without infringing on good faith Creators’ personal choice to express themselves and define their content.
Our goal is to have more to share with you about the tags feature later this year.

Using something like the Vtuber
tag and not even either being a Vtuber or showing Vtuber content is purely ridiculous! I dont give a **** if the people doing make twitch money. Everyone should be held to the same standard no matter how popular they are! -

tired of searching a tag and finding completely unrelated stuff. the streamers that do this are just so insensitive

Not only is this harming small communities and artists but is allowing the harrassment of a whole community of it's own by big creators

I agree a lot! DO SOMETHING TWITCH PLEASE

Agreed. It's not hard to properly tag yourselves. We struggled and fought TIRELESSLY for a tag of our own. Now, people want to abuse it and take it away from us. Not okay.

Seems like a lot of the "Bigger" streamers are using this tag as a way to trigger certain communities. Example; They would never get away with this if it were a non poc under the black or latinx tag, so they do it to "lesser" categories. A category that will be looked at as "cringe" if they stand up for themselves.
It's really just a disrespect and not having basic respect for one another on the platform. You're clogging up the category for what...? A laugh from some weird childish viewers? lol

Inappropriately using a tag with the intention to take advantage of the audience is shameful and the fact that twitch has not taken steps to address this but bans people for showing the dumbest of things worries me.

The misuse of the tag is absolutely disgusting and ridiculous. It's hard enough to find viewers in our niche then these creators try to pull whatever card they have to belittle us. I'm tired of it; I want a place unique to me and this isn't it

This misuse of tags is growing with each day. Vtubers especially shouldn't have to deal with verified streamers who fish for views with tags that have nothing to do with their stream.

Streamers intentionally mislabeling their content to garner more views is not a behavior that should be tolerated, much less dismissed. This is an increasingly pervasive issue and it should be made clear that Twitch values the resources it provides by enforcing correct usage when there is a clear and undeniable violation of the expressed intention of those resources.

Not only are they misusing the tag, they’re harassing people who are actual Vtubers. Vtubers have struggled so much to get where they are today, just to be overshadowed by individuals that this platform is catered towards. It’s in your TOS, so do something about it.

im so tired of sexual egirls taking over the vtuber tag with nothing to do or talk about vtuber and even go so far as to get ANGRY when people even say the word vtuber in their chat that they BAN the person who even brings it up. they belittle us, hide newer vtubers who have just as much right to be on the same platform, this is disgusting. these people are literally making soft core **** and no one is doing a thing!

Me and many of my friends use this tag to find smaller streamers to raid and I'm tired of seeing a girl deepthroating her mic every time

Misuse of the tag, especially when its for abuse should not be allowed

As a Vtuber myself most of my audience comes from the vtuber tag, misusing the tag system will hurt the discoverability of the actual people who are the member of the tag.

it is literally against TOS to misuse/miscategorise your stream. are you a vtuber? no? then don't use the vtuber tag. are you doing a facecam stream? dont use the vtuber tag. it's so plainly written and it's disappointing seeing this get seemingly ignored just to keep viewers on the website.

Misuse of tags is against the TOS right? Streamers that refuse to tag themselves properly should be held liable.

vtubing is heavy on artist support. the misuse is not only a jerk move to the streamers and viewers; but the artists who make the visuals possible as well. there are so many factors affected by the streamers' visibility being dampened by viewfishing via tag misuse.

it took so long to get the tag, and quite frankly it's ridiculous that people keep misusing it
the tags are there for a reason, and its hurting smaller creators when people who aren't vtubers use the tag

the amount of greed from verified streamers is ridiculous to me. us small streamers are working our ***** off and following the TOS as well as we can, only to get overshadowed by creators who have 100+ viewers who are abusing the tags system and flooding people out. its so irritating that nothings being done.
