Intentional misuse of tags ie. Vtuber tag on non-Vtuber
There has been a recent rise in streamers misusing the tag system, most noticeably with non-Vtubers using the Vtuber tag. This makes discoverability more difficult for both streamers who are actually Vtubers, and viewers trying to use the tag system to find Vtubers. Even prominent streamers are misusing tags, so this behavior has been spreading. I'd like to ask Twitch staff to please enforce action on the misuse of tags to help the streamers and viewers who are using the tag system as intended. Banning streamers from using specific tags they have been caught and verified to be abusing them might be a helpful solution to consider.
Hi, thanks for flagging this and sharing your suggestion.
We share and understand your concerns about how the intentional, repeated misuse of tags can undermine the purpose of the tags product itself. Tags are an important discoverability feature for communities, and a powerful way for all Creators—but especially those that are underrepresented—to express their personal identity and creative vision for their content.
We also do not feel Twitch should be the judge of Creators’ personal or creative identity, so we typically only enforce against the misuse of tags when it is associated with other behavior that violates our Community Guidelines such as hateful conduct or harassment.
That said, as the VTuber community’s experience demonstrates, there are limitations to this approach and we are actively investigating additional steps we can take to protect and improve the integrity of the tags feature at scale, without infringing on good faith Creators’ personal choice to express themselves and define their content.
Our goal is to have more to share with you about the tags feature later this year.

Definitely standing with this, I have for the past couple of months have been looking for other Vtubers to watch. The Vtuber tag instead populates many who are either /non/ vtubers and or are trolling the tag. Please fix this ASAP.

Don’t need to lose potential viewers to ear licking ASMR streams.

You guys put up rules and then later don't enforce them. Why wearing socks when you have no feet?

Discoverability on Twitch is already pretty difficult to manage, people misusing tags (and also most often being extremely disrespectful about the community) are a huge problem which will only make it harder for anyone who isn't already big on the platform. It also promotes intense toxicity and trolling behavior which will only snowball outwards and into other communities such as the LGBT or other minorities which have their own tags to identify safe spaces with.

This needs to be dealt with. ASAP.

Tags were originally created to promote diverse groups on Twitch - via languages, ethnicity, sexual orientation, preferences, and now streaming styles, to help viewers and fellow streamers find those with similar tastes or belonging in similar groups. That people are now using a tag ONLY FOR VIEWS or whatever is the "meta tag" destroys such a function, perhaps permanently, as Twitch's official reaction sets off a precedent. What if people just pile into tags of languages, such as Chinese or Arabic or Spanish, just because they see those with the tag be popular? What about the LGBTQIA+ community? It ruins the entire functionality and hinders Twitch, not just as a community but also as a corporation and a form of social media.

Real-life streamers using Vtuber tag is making search function unusable for a lot of people. Vtubers want to raid other vtubers but currently that tag is full of irl camgirls showing off their *****. Same for viewers that search for Vtuber content - we don't want to see somebody's ***, really.

It would be one thing if the streamers misusing it in question made it clear they were getting a vtubing model and showing it off in a test stream. But some of your more prominent creators as well as others hopping on the tag that have no clue or care, are artificially and purposely clogging pages. One such ASMR streamer spent her whole stream today, not only throwing a temper tantrum about being professionally DMed about mistagging. But proceeded to use very hateful language and slurs, including accusations of cultural appropriation and grooming/pedophilia. We as a community have been very diplomatic and professional, but it seems we have to bring the matter to your doorstep now since the other party will not resolve this amicably.

Not only are non-Vtuber streamers deliberately mis-tagging themselves. A fair number are outright mocking Vtubers directly, or insulting them for no reason beyond they’re getting away with it.

Please enforce your rules and TOS evenly and daily twitch. I understand on bigger streamers there is a hesitation but they should not be a exemption because of size. People are making an already flooded marketplace more difficult to get discovered in and they are misusing the vtuber tag entirely for their own self-serving benefit and it needs to stop and if they are already knowingly breaking your rules they won’t care about our complaints. All we ask is that you enforce your own rules against people who don’t care to break them for attention and monetary gain. Thank you for your time

Looking through Twitch's Vtuber tag, I have so far found 3 ASMR Irl streamers, and 20 IRL streamers playing games with nothing having to do with Vtubers. This is unacceptable and a majority of those people misusing it were burying actual Vtubers under their numbers. This is hurting smaller vtubers and is becoming an actual problem where people WANTING to watch vtubers or raid them are being mislead and inconvenienced. It needs to get fixed or the problem is going to get larger

I just think it's disrespectful of people to intentionally use it and it doesn't help people who are trying to grow a community. Demonetization for the abuse of misusing appropriate tags would be appreciated

This is not helpful at all for the Vtuber community, and it's clearly against your TOS. Hold people accountable for breaking your rules, please.

This might be a terrible analogy.
If a white guy was to stream on Twitch, but decided to put Black or African American tag on their streams, despite not being that race, wouldn't that be extremely inappropriate?
I'm not trying to say that VTubers are a race, but the fact that people are free to misidentify themselves with a tag that doesn't belong to them is pretty **** offensive.

I honestly like the "purity" of the VTuber community and don't need ingenuous jackasses like xQc and people who use "ASMR" as a cheap sex sound for money. Please fix this.

Twitch it's against your ToS to mistag your streams, please enforce rules you yourself put in place for the community.
Stricter enforcement or harsher penalties need to be incurred as you are currently allowing bullying on your platform as these misclassified people(s) attempt to undermine an entire community and small streamers.

Why does xQcOW get to pretend he's a VTuber, an ASMRtist, and is watching anime - while he's playing Call of Duty? He's doing none of those things.
Going to the VTubers tag shows me at least 5 IRL streamers who are OBVIOUSLY not VTubers. And when asked about it politely they get angry and abusive (see ElisabeteTV)
Tag abuse is frustrating, especially for the newer streamers who rely on accurate tags for people to find them.

Twitch needs to hold those accountable for misusing tags. For me, I am already fighting an uphill battle being a female on this platform, not monetizing my femininity for my gain, being a gamer, and no cam, etc. VTUBER is an extremely important tag for me, and not only streamers but the artists who help create the assets too.. it's unfair and a HUGE violation of ToS, IMO.

You have rules. Big streamers are breaking them. Don't have a double standard.

that is a very ridiculous situation, that can be considered misleading advertising, it does not help him or the others, twitch has to reinforce those rules so that they do not continue to be abused
