Simple as. While they should adhere to guidelines, users should be able to opt for which box art they prefer on IGDB. Doing so would not only be preferable for some who prefer some art over another, but would also fleshen out the Database by letting users see which artwork corresponds to which region.56 votes
There’s absolutely a need for multiple covers as a data point, we hear you :) Let’s clarify what this could mean in the near future:
One thing that we are currently looking at is expanding data for Localization, and covers are an obvious fit for this. However it’s worth pointing that Localized cover and additional cover might not mean the same thing. For example offering the Japanese specific cover doesn’t mean having multiple variant for it (different artworks, logo style, dimensions etc..).
We will start with Localization, which will help provide API users more options for their own communities. And as a second step from there we would begin looking at how to offer multiple variant of a single regional cover so that users may pick & choose.
Hope this helps!

In addition to Steam and mobile platforms, links to the web storefronts of additional platforms would be helpful.27 votes
Update on this, we identified one possible issue which is that unlike PC stores, most console links are region specific.
So we’re investigating how we could either generalised them or whether we’d introduce this when we tackle localization of IGDB.
Something that would mirror my preferences from Twitch, as well as save battery life on mobile phones/laptops and be easier on the eyes from all the stark white would be the ability to have a Site-wide Dark Mode.
There are a few displays this would probably help as well, like you're daily output graph on the Karma Hunters page, which can be difficult to view on some LCD monitors at non-optimal viewing angles.18 votes
The idea is to have a special section called "Editions" which would be different from "Versions". This section would be only dedicated to collector's editions, GOTY and so on. Could be added under the "This game is a version." section on the edit page, as "This game is a special edition."18 votes
Yesterday we released the first phase of a project to redo version which helps this. We do still have versions, but going forward it will only be used for editions indeed.
we added support for Remake, Remasters, Expanded Games, Ports, and Forks. Any of these won’t need to be marked as a Version anymore :)
Few companies maintain the same name forever. Some rename, merge, are bought out, or generally acquired. It would be helpful to manage the progression of various devs and publishers with a timeline progression and/or a tree of ownership.
1) Squaresoft > Square > Square and Enix merge > SquareEnix
2) Namco and Bandai merge > Namco Bandai > Bandai Namco Games
3) Activision and Blizzard Merge > Create holding company called Activision Blizzard that owns the two companies Activision and Blizzard.17 votes
We are looking at redoing our company data taxonomy, part of which is possibly adding several ‘layers’ to companies, such as Divisions for example.
Companies are a bit lacking at the moment as we historically have been focusing on Games, but we gradually intend to start giving them more love :)
Create game lists by importing what you own from platforms like steam16 votes
Import Previously Entered Data from Full Title entries into DLC/Addons, Bundles, Expansions, Versions etc.
Something that can become rather repetitive and even prevent users from adding all the Add-ons for a given title is repetitively entering the same data points over and over.
It would be extremely helpful if you set an entry to be an Addon, Expansion, Version or other relevant entry to copy all data relevant data from the original title.
- Categorization fields
- Company fields
- Age Ratings

Hey! Excellent suggestion, in fact we have something very similar in our Backlog already, with a ‘inherit data from parent’ feature.
It’s just at an idea stage for now, but we’ll look into planning in in accordance with our roadmap as soon as possible.

Specifically for PC games, this website gives info on how to get games running correctly and well, with patches such as widescreen support and workarounds to DRMs. For many older games, the information on this website is essential to get the game running correctly. Thanks!8 votes
My idea is simple; adding GameFAQ pages to the possible website additions on the website. This will allow people easy access to both answers to questions they might have regarding the game as well as a walkthrough if needed.7 votes
Instead of using random algorithm for similar games on IGDB pages. Make users enable recommend games based on their review. See MyAnimeList for the implementation. Its something like this :
If you like [Insert game title], then you can try this based on users recommendation and similar theme.7 votes
Just a button on IGDB to go to a random game in the database. Maybe you can set a date frame or different filters to it but in general a button to show a random game would be awesome.6 votes
This is a good suggestion thank you! This has been discussed a couple of times in the past. We can’t promise any ETA on such a feature but it would be interesting to investigate.
Our main concerns so far would be what can be included is random: should it have filters, should it be games on all platforms or only selected ones, all age ratings etc..
If you have more ideas or specifics that always helps, we’ll leave this ticket open meanwhile!
http://retroachievements.org/ is a platform which provides achievements for retro games running in emulators, Currently there are only achievement categories for Steam, PSN and Xbox.
If we had a RetroAchievements category we could add achievements to thousands of games which may never have achievement's otherwise. It would be very cool for things like GOG Galaxy 2.0 integration plugins6 votes
This is interesting for sure, we would have to look into it. One thing that comes to mind is whether or not those achievement lists are official, or approved by the original developer/publisher, as this could prove tricky from an IP perspective. Since we would redistribute the data, we’re very careful about the source and provenance.
We’ll be looking into this internally first. Thanks!
This goes slightly with the request for alternate cover options for titles, it would be helpful if various regional titles displayed beneath the main page titles, rather than a small subtext at the bottom of the page.

Sometimes users may not log onto the site for a time, while there may be pending questions from Admins that may require feedback or clarification to get approved.
Having the ability to enable Email Notifications for new comments on pending entries could help notify users in a more convenient way.5 votes
Hey! There is very much a need for this absolutely. However it wouldn’t be a simple implementation at this point of time.
We’ll definitely stay in touch when we proceed forward!
I find filtering options missing in the results of the Karma Hunters sections.
For example to be able to filter in the section "Missing Covers" by platform, or in the section "Under 25% Information" by "Empty developer", "Empty Publisher", etc ..
Having these filtering options would make easy, and also would encourage users, to fill in missing information5 votes
Another release region request. Generally these will almost always be included in a general North American [NA] release, but there are rare exceptions.

If a title is listed as an Episode (a game that continues a core story released in stages and/or uses the same game save data), it does not list the other Episodes in the series as Bundles or Expansions do. Currently, you can only link to a single title, and there is no means of stepping to the previous or next Episode.
a) .hack//Infection Part 1, .hack//Mutation Part 2, .hack//Outbreak Part 3, .hack//Quarantine Part 4
b) Virtually all Telltale games.5 votes
This is actually in the backlog and already prioritised.
We’re looking at implementing a fresh way of displaying Additional Content on game pages, which would include Episodes.
(Confirmed in the Pipeline)
After confirming a duplicate listing for deletion, it would be helpful to users that have saved those titles by Following, Saving to Lists or to Played listings to forward those links to the correct page, rather than the "Oops" broken link.5 votes
So shedding some more light onto this.
While we are going to be working on a proper way to remove ‘bad pages, and duplicates’, this project is likely going to come in several phases.
The initial phase is removing the pages form the site, and stop syncing them with the API.
The later phase would be us building tools to automatically swap the game IDs on lists, reviews, etc.. which would take care of this.
Currently, only actual Bundle pages appear to display titles included. It would be helpful if those individual titles also displayed the collections and bundles they are included in.5 votes
