How it works:
  • Choose a relevant category for your idea and check to see if any other users have already submitted this suggestion before creating your own
  • Be clear with your suggestion, provide examples and solutions to the problem you are posing. Suggestions without actionable feedback may be closed without comment
  • Upvote existing ideas, as opposed to creating multiple similar requests
  • Be sure to share your suggestion with others to gain more support!
  • Note: Suggestions are not guarantees that we will take action on an idea. We will try our best to communicate why an idea may not work, but may not always be able to share that information.
  • Titles that are unclear or unnecessarily vulgar may be reworded to better reflect the request for ease of discovery

If you need help:
This forum is for ideas only. If you need help, please check out our help portal for tons of articles that may answer your questions. If you still need help, you can reach out to our support team in the help portal as well!

Appeals or commentary on suspension decisions, support requests, suggestions disparaging others, and non-constructive feedback will be closed without comment.

  1. Adding a Full/Partial Controller Support column for titles in the database.

This would be monumental for indexing games that can be played from the couch or not.

  2. I find filtering options missing in the results of the Karma Hunters sections.

For example to be able to filter in the section "Missing Covers" by platform, or in the section "Under 25% Information" by "Empty developer", "Empty Publisher", etc ..

Having these filtering options would make easy, and also would encourage users, to fill in missing information

  3. I think one of the sections that need the most contribution, especially in terms of time, is the credits. Having to type each name and title into the given boxes takes quite a lot of time and can be a deterrent.

Since for most games the information is already out there, being able to copy and paste the information into a standard format (maybe word, excel etc.) and then import that into IGDB would really help.

Also, being able to edit them even after the changes have been accepted so people can add different languages/voice actors.

    Might also be worth…

  4. My idea is simple; adding GameFAQ pages to the possible website additions on the website. This will allow people easy access to both answers to questions they might have regarding the game as well as a walkthrough if needed.

  5. Noting the [CN] China region as well as [KR] Korea, but it is worth adding that releasing in mainland China is and has been EXCEPTIONALLY difficult for western publishers, which is why most devs have historically opted to release in [HK] Honk Kong or [TW] Taiwan and let those sales be an "in" to the region.

This is interesting, so even though TW or HK release are a way to enter the Mainland market, they are actually different? in terms of content and/or release dates?

Sounds like we need to investigate this further.
If you happen to have example of some titles please share them in a comment in here as that would help.

    Thanks!

  6. This might be alittle complicated without some way for Users to manually submit Critic Review links, but there are a large number of high profile journalists and game reviewers that have stepped away from writing full articles on a game that an AI bot can web-crawl, and have switched to primarily YouTube video reviews. Many of these are now on Metacritic as well.

  7. It would be great if your database had a link to live stream channels for the game.

For example GTA V could point you to these links.

    https://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Grand%20Theft%20Auto%20V

    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOquqcRMJmURiGfEnaitptg

    https://www.facebook.com/gaming/game/grandtheftautov

Not sure if there are other similar sites... But also if you add this please open it up to the API as well!

    Thanks!

  9. A user wanted to sort the release dates of platform versions by date and get the name of the version. But could not since platform-version-release-dates field platform_version is missing.

    Example query:

    https://api.igdb.com/v4/platform_version_release_dates

    fields *, platform_version.name; sort date desc; limit 500;

Expected: A sorted list of platform version release dates and the name of the platform version name

Actual: A sorted list of platform version release dates without the platform version data.

  10. On the Press Kit pages, such as https://www.igdb.com/games/outriders/presskit there is a note on the inspiration of the press kit: Inspired by presskit() by Rami Ismail(Vlambeer)

While the Vlambeer twitter that is linked to still exists, the company ended in 2020, so my suggestion is to change the Vlambeer link to that of Rami Ismail's own twitter https://twitter.com/tha_rami

  13. The element used for browsing lists of games that fit a certain page’s criteria (e.g. game engine pages, category/keyword pages, franchise pages) sometimes does not display the pagination, preventing users from seeing any games beyond the first 10 shown. Changing the sort mode can allow you to see a different slice of 10 games, thus verifying that there should be additional pages visible.

    some examples:

Heya! Indeed definitely a bug, we’ve added this into our backlog and will look at a fix as soon as possible.
    Thanks!

  14. Ability to add game-specific controllers/accessories to their page. For example the guitar in guitar hero games, the camera with Eyetoy games, the dance mat for DDR games and so on. Along with the option to set whether the item is mandatory or not.

  15. 3D view of game covers, being able to view the front, sides and back sides.
Could be nice when having many regions and scanned images of all sides of a box art.

Hey! For now we’re focusing on a single cover standard. Which we’ll then expand to other regions to be able to cover more types of users for this standard.

Once we have good coverage of those we may start looking at additional aspects such as sides, back of cover etc..

    Thanks!

  17. Company logos change with time and many of them do drastic changes. Suggestion to be able to upload more than 1 logo as well as date input accompanying logos.
Also have a nice logo picture timeline where each logo has a 'from' and 'to' date associated.

  18. By showing the version title, it would be easier to know which version is which for games with the same name in different versions. It could be shown in front of the release date.

  19. Currently, when titles do not have an included Screenshot, the highlighted backdrop of the page displays a green background color. While I'm sure this is intentional in order to entice users to always be sure to add one, there isn't really anything that communicates this is what caused the green background. Further from an aesthetic point of view, it highly clashes with the purple "theme" of Twitch/IGDB.

As a suggestion, Twitch channels that don't include a background image will display a repeating pattern of the user's name. Or, an icon to signify a broken image to tell users to add…
