Badges/Emotes

How it works:
  • Choose a relevant category for your idea and check to see if any other users have already submitted this suggestion before creating your own
  • Be clear with your suggestion, provide examples and solutions to the problem you are posing. Suggestions without actionable feedback may be closed without comment
  • Upvote existing ideas, as opposed to creating multiple similar requests
  • Be sure to share your suggestion with others to gain more support!
  • Note: Suggestions are not guarantees that we will take action on an idea. We will try our best to communicate why an idea may not work, but may not always be able to share that information.
  • Titles that are unclear or unnecessarily vulgar may be reworded to better reflect the request for ease of discovery

  1. Bits and Gift Sub badges would have a much greater impact if they were global across all channels instead of channel-specific. Viewers invest real money to support Twitch and its creators, but right now their contributions only carry visible recognition in one community. This system underrepresents how much a viewer has supported the platform as a whole.

Reward loyalty by giving viewers lasting recognition that follows them everywhere.

  2. Put emotes in alphabetical order of channel name.
If I use a different browser or different computer, my emotes are in a different order, even if I'm using the same browser on a different device. It takes so long to figure out where the emotes for a given channel are.
If you're in a stream, sure, have the channel you're watching's emotes at the top of the list. But for all other channel emotes, organize them alphabetically so it's easier to find. I don't know why but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason - or even consistency…

  3. Viewers should be able to see who has the most channel points in a channel.
The top 1–3 viewers with the highest points could receive special channel point badges next to their names.

This would add a new layer of engagement, competition, and recognition for loyal viewers.
It would encourage people to collect and spend channel points more actively, while giving streamers another tool to reward their most dedicated community members.

Such a feature would make channel points more meaningful and create more fun interactions in chat.

  4. Removal of the Gunrun emote. Such a person who holds back people's primary income and is beyond gross negligent with the company no longer deserves a twitch global emote

  5. Let us hide Emotes (for ourselves only) from streamers we don't want to see or have around us all the time, without having to actually block the channel or even blacklist every single one of their Emotes, which can cause drama AND make the viewers, who have paid for these Emotes, angry. Let them use the Emote, everyone can see them, apart from the people who have hidden them for themselves. Don't replace the Emote with some icon, just completely remove it.
Some streamers with a lot of reach just aren't good people, and we don't need to be reminded…

  6. Description:
I have discovered a bug in the handling of transparent animated GIFs when uploading emotes at 56x56 and 28x28 resolutions. The issue specifically affects transparency rendering in these smaller sizes.

    Details:
    - The bug affects animated GIF emotes with transparency
    - Occurs specifically at 56x56 and 28x28 resolutions
    - The 112x112 version displays correctly with proper transparency
    - In affected sizes, some transparent pixels are not being rendered correctly

    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Create an animated GIF with transparency
    2. Upload it as an emote
    3. Check the 56x56 and 28x28 versions
    4. Observe that transparency is not properly…

  7. As this blog post explains, the Valentine's 2025 emotes are time-limited global emotes, and I think that is very counter-productive with the quality they have to use them for 2 weeks. It is 4 emotes, it costs you more computing and server space to add and remove them than to leave them in permanently.

  8. Let viewers buy (and possibly trade) global emotes or emote packs from developers and games. Similar to the Steam points shop, game developers could upload emotes from their games, and viewers could earn them through twitch drops, and/or buy them from a points store. The currency for buying emotes could be either the existing Bits currency, or a new "viewer points" currency earned from subbing to any channel, gifting, bits or even just viewing channels similar to channel points, but on a global level.
In the future, this "points shop" could also be expanded to include profile frames and other…

  11. Hello! This idea may not be noticed, but I'm a frequent and active user of the Twitch platform who actively follows the changes and additions of new badges, and I'm very sad to see how you devalue them. Badges used to be a rare event, but now you can get them every month by watching games. Everyone gets these badges and interest quickly disappears. But why do this? Why can’t we make rare badges with interesting events? There was an interesting event with voting, and a rare badge was given for correct answers. Why can't we continue doing this? No…

  12. Currently VIP badges are unlocked by concurrent chatters. Especially for smaller streamers it is very hard to reach a new level and basically the only chance to advance is by getting a large raid and hope that the raiders spam a raid message. My suggestion is to unlock one additional VIP batch (on top of the unlocked concurrent chatters VIPs) for each month being affiliate. This number is already tracked and would allow small streamers to VIP more regulars and also would remove the hard limit of 100 VIPs for very large streamers.

  13. Please add webp as a supported format for animated emotes! Currently, the only acceptable animated format is GIF. GIFs do not allow for semitransparency, only completely opaque or transparent colors. My commissioned emotes have dark hair like myself, which blends into dark mode. To fix this issue, I added a semitransparent glow behind the chibi for my standard emotes, but this is impossible to do in a GIF. Pleaseee add webp as a supported format!

  14. It would be nice to have a global badge with the Justin.tv icon (monkeycam) for Twitch accounts created before the inception of Twitch.

If account older than [date of twitch inception JUNE 2011 for example] user account will have access to Justin.tv badge. A nod to the pioneers of this community.

  16. Using the "shake" feature in Twitch's emote upload menu caused a black background to show up in parts of the emote. I found it tolerable. However, the emote ended up being rejected, and in the rejection email, for some reason the smallest version of the emote was bright white, unlike in my previews when making it, after submitting it, and unlike the two larger versions present in the email.
I'm pretty disappointed that a bug in twitch's system is going to hamper my ability to gain instant upload privileges and would like to see that as soon as possible, since…

  17. The current set of guidelines for Twitch Emotes is a razor-thin line of subjectivity, and it is interpreted differently depending on which human being reviews it.

A year ago I submitted a dancing mango emote that was approved. A few months later it was taken down for violating guidelines on nudity. I reviewed the guidelines with my artist and we blurred the butt part of the dancing in an effort to comply with the guidelines. Please bear in mind that I reached out to twitch and informed them of my very conscious effort to try and follow guidelines, but that…

  18. Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to you regarding the Verified Status designation process on your platform. As a frequent Participant who engages with your community, I believe there is a compelling case to be made for opening up Verified Status to non-streaming accounts.

At present, the Verified badge is primarily reserved for Partners - those who stream regularly and have met specific monetization thresholds. However, there are many valued members who contribute to discussions and shape the overall user experience without streaming themselves. By verifying certain Participant accounts based on clear participation guidelines, your company could recognize these influential voices…
