Do not impliment the AI auto clip tool
Twitch has implemented a sign up for an AI alpha auto clip tool. This is very unethical in many ways to not just content creation but also to things outside content creation.
I ask twitch to remove this sign up and not engage in any use of AI when it comes to content creation.
Facts about AI usage
- Google’s single Iowa data center alone consumed 1 billion gallons of water in 2024. The first way AI uses water is for cooling. Data centers run thousands of powerful computers around the clock. As these machines crunch numbers and manage data, they generate a lot of heat.
To keep everything running smoothly, water is often used in cooling systems. This can mean circulating water through pipes to absorb heat or using evaporative cooling towers that release warm air.
Ai is trained to use already created content for training with out user consent. This has already been happening on social media. Twitch's AI clip tool ''claims'' they will not use user generated clips with out consent for training to assume what constitutes as high engagement moments for clip creation.
- AI data centers now generate 2.5–3.7% of global greenhouse gas emissions, officially surpassing the aviation industry’s 2% contribution while growing 15% annually.
It is very important that people speak up and say no to the AI clip tool especially partners and ambassadors as this tool is very harmful to the community.
Turning it off as an option is not enough.

The backlash to instances like the category icons for non-gaming categories (Art, etc) and the atrocious Cat in the Chat emote should have made things clear for the powers that be at Twitch. For a platform with massive emphasis on community, there is no justifiable reason to implement AI in any capacity, but especially for this case. This is a useless addition, because if there is a moment is deemed clip worthy by a streamer or their chat, it'll be done so by them during or after their own stream. Cease implementation of this feature and focus those resources somewhere more productive, such as better discovery and viewer count tracking.

why does this site bother even having an unsubscribe button if it doesn't work? I've unsubscribed three times from this ****. I guess I have to just set filters to autodelete any email from twitch.

AI is currently far too inefficient, terrible for the environment, and frankly bad at what it tries to do to be worth using for anything, much less on a thing that should be for chat/streamers to do??? It's going to clip random ********, not give proper context to the good clips it does make, and dilute clips with secondhand slop. No thank you.

Isn't the point of clips to be chat-driven interaction with the streamer? Inserting AI into this is disruptive and disingenuous. It just feels forced. Why do this, Twitch? Be better!

Why would I want this thing? I feel like they are pushing stuff like this to take the human part out of making stuff like this and I also feel like you'd lose some of the context of the clip if AI did it. Twitch needs to listen to people and not what can make them a quick buck.

I will not ever use AI no matter how hard you want to force it on me. I would rather pack up my **** and take myself elsewhere. If there is no where else to go? I'll just stop streaming altogether rather than use this platform.

This is so wasteful and no one sincerely wants this. This does not support streamers at all, in fact, it actively not only harms them, but harms literally everyone.
Stop just shoving AI into everything because you don't want to pay people!
AI clips are going to be trash anyway. It's going to clip what it THINKS people want, not what they really do.
AI was supposed to do the awful work for us so we had more time for fun things; but instead we get AI doing the fun things while actively killing the environment and raising your (yes you) electric bill in the process.

adding this would be a good way to get me to never use the platform again. There are other ways to support streamers.

Don't be short sighted Twitch. The AI bubble is about to burst, its almost 10x the size of the housing bubble years ago, and even though the industry loves this stuff cause they are run by idiots, every single public opinion is against AI, we hate this ****. Get rid of it. Signed - a guy who's worked in IT for the last 11 years.

As others have also mentioned, AI clips make ZERO sense. Clips are community oriented, having an automated way of clipping would not only distance the streamer further from their community, but would also make it a souless content generator.
Having an option to turn it off is NOT enough, we need to keep AI in this form off of Twitch. Keep this space user and streamer oriented! Keep it about passion and less about cranking out as many clips and content as possible. Twitch is a place for community and real, human interactions.
