Do not impliment the AI auto clip tool
Twitch has implemented a sign up for an AI alpha auto clip tool. This is very unethical in many ways to not just content creation but also to things outside content creation.
I ask twitch to remove this sign up and not engage in any use of AI when it comes to content creation.
Facts about AI usage
- Google’s single Iowa data center alone consumed 1 billion gallons of water in 2024. The first way AI uses water is for cooling. Data centers run thousands of powerful computers around the clock. As these machines crunch numbers and manage data, they generate a lot of heat.
To keep everything running smoothly, water is often used in cooling systems. This can mean circulating water through pipes to absorb heat or using evaporative cooling towers that release warm air.
Ai is trained to use already created content for training with out user consent. This has already been happening on social media. Twitch's AI clip tool ''claims'' they will not use user generated clips with out consent for training to assume what constitutes as high engagement moments for clip creation.
- AI data centers now generate 2.5–3.7% of global greenhouse gas emissions, officially surpassing the aviation industry’s 2% contribution while growing 15% annually.
It is very important that people speak up and say no to the AI clip tool especially partners and ambassadors as this tool is very harmful to the community.
Turning it off as an option is not enough.

AI has already stolen enough from me personally, let alone people around me and the environment. It's a cash grab, and will only make the platform worse. How do I know these AI tools aren't harvesting my work even if it's off? Waste of resources and time.

AI tools like these are creatively damaging, cognitively damaging, and environmentally damaging. I do not and will never believe they are more beneficial than the cost they are taking on us and our world.
Or to put it another way: if a human can't be bothered to clip my streams, why would anyone be bothered to watch an AI generated clip? Do not flood your platform with slop, especially not after you said nobody watches the VODs you deliberately buried from view.

I don't want any AI on twitch. I constantly use Twitch just because YouTube keeps pushing the chat AI summary on me without asking.

Absolutely not. Even with all the problems that AI has for environment and so on, a mass junk generator is only going to make clips less valuable to have, diminishing the usefulness and making people ignore clips even more.

Do we really need the wrong machine to make clips??? The point of clips is community interaction with the stream, and using the environment nuker to make them just takes the human element out of streaming more and more.

Not only the ethical, privacy and legal concerns, but it also just doesn't make any sense. Clips are good because they're made by that streamer's community, otherwise you may as well pick moments at random.
Whoever suggested this should be fired.

The option to turn it off isn't enough, I agree. It needs to be removed completely.

This is gross. I don’t want AI involved in my stream from Twitch’s end in any capacity.

This is just plain wasteful. Clippers are an important part of the Twitch ecosystem and shouldn't be replaced with an automated process that no one asked for.

They just want AI to do everything these days, huh? Clip for them, edit for them, think for them, speak for them... It's overdone; not everything has to have AI.
At least for me, I don't want AI auto-clip.

Do not implement this. No-one is asking for this and the data centers that are used to power this stuff damage the planet. It's ridiculous. Please make the right choice!

I am fully happy to stop streaming on or watching twitch if they implement this.

The minor convenience afforded from this tool will not make up for the significant possibility that the same tool will be "training" itself as it's being used. If this is the long-term goal of features like this, it needs to stop, as not only are there people who use Twitch for their financial stability, there will never be a large enough market for AI-generated streaming content. People watch streams for the person hosting the stream.
If that's not the case, and this is genuinely an attempt to provide creators with a helpful tool, you also need to stop it. The majority of creators on Twitch did not ask for assistance that's delivered by widely hated technology.
