Dedicated Arcade Category
Arcade gamers/streamers, collectors and players (community in general) currently do not have a dedicated category. There are a large number of notable video arcade hardware / PCB (also short for game boards) streamers that mainly stream under the category "Retro", "STG", etc and append the tag “Arcade” to differentiate from mainly console based retro streams.
While a large majority of video arcade games are retro in nature, and similar titles and ports exists in the home console space, there are quite a few major differences, challenges and nuances in the realm of capturing video arcade game releases and their discrete hardware from the 70’s-90’s to the more modern PC based commercial releases.
Similar to the effort of the popular Pinball category, I would like to suggest if it does not already exist an “Arcade” category. This would highlight commercial video arcade machine game and PCB releases as well as the community around it, separate from home console and retro category offerings. The only arcade category I see currently is a game coincidently called, ”ARCADE”.

Yes! It would be a useful category for viewers to find arcade streams, and for streamers to find someone to raid to keep the arcade vibe going.

Done! Let Arcade games be it's own category. it's about time I'm reliving my childhood gaming memories through many of these streams.

An "Arcade" category is very much needed. The amount of time and hardware we use to stream unique hardware gets buried in the more generic categories. This would benefit all of us in the arcade streaming scene!

Truth be told, I'm surprised this isn't a category already. Get on it twitch!

Even before I started streaming myself, I was surprised that there wasn't an arcade category in place. All of the streamers I followed early on were making arcade content, and it was (and still is) difficult to find people in the arcade community on Twitch playing on cabinets and original hardware simply due to the various categories we make due with streaming under.
Once I started streaming from my cabinets, I even added "Arcade" to my channel name to help make it easier for people to find my early arcade streams. While I love the Retro category and would absolutely still use it for my console streams, being able to categorize dedicated arcade streams which are not always inherently retro would be a huge win for the sizable and passionate arcade scene that already exists on Twitch.
While amazing in every way, this scene often feels far less cohesive than other niche communities with no true category for us to call home.

Done! The Retro category is very messy as is. Arcade deserves a spot!

I support this discussion. The genre is long over due for this support. The community is one that spans across the globe with all ages and backgrounds of people. The amount of fine tuning and hard work it takes to bring this type of hardware to modern day streaming is a grand to enjoy.

An arcade category involves not only the games but the display and maintenance of cabinets and exclusive hardware. A lot of this is from the old arcade heydays but there are still new releases and many more planned ie Ex Arcadia platform.
I’ve been looking for this category for years honestly.

+1 To everything already been said in the comments!
As an arcade enthusiast and streamer myself I sometimes try to find people with similar interest to watch and interact with, but mostly I end up just scrolling and scrolling past console players. I hope we can have a dedicated arcade category soon so our community can thrive on Twitch. *insert coin* -

Great idea. An "Arcade" category would be great. Us arcade streamers fit under Retro, but there is so much more to it. It's like showing off vinyl versus playing an mp3. I'm also a Pinball streamer and when Twitch finally added pinball it helped our community grow and find each other. It would also help showcase Arcade world record holders that are playing on real hardware.

Arcade should have its own category because it’s very specific. I’ve always stuck with the retro category but it’s easy to get lost and overlooked because there are so many retro streamers. It should be treated the same as how the pinball category came to be, and that was all because of Jack Danger AKA Deadflip.

Agree, about Arcade being enough of a difference to have a branch from under "Retro". The retro focus has been mainly console and "retro video" broadcasts. Finding an Arcade Game stream in a sea of console game streams is difficult.

Arcade is definitely a niche category that should be in it's own realm, separate from Retro. A majority of Retro are console games, while Arcade games have quite a distinction in gameplay. As well, most of the Arcade streamers also celebrate the hardware, cabinets, and experience of the old Arcade days. It would be great for these streamers to not get lost in the Retro category since Arcade gaming is such a unique experience.
