1. Ad immunity with Ad gamification

   User controlled ad experience:

   -Users run their own ads to build up an "ad immunity" duration for their current account.
   -This ad immunity duration will allow the user to view streams without encountering preroll/midroll/other ads for this period.
   -Longer the ads watched the longer the ad free duration.
   -Can have an upper limit of ad free viewing time, requiring additional ad viewing to top off the duration.
   -Users can choose who gets the ad revenue share, depending on where they trigger the ads to view. Either with a channel they want to support, or give the share to Twitch. Use button prompt to choose revenue split and keep user engaged with the ads.

   Ad Gamification:
   Give users more incentive to run ads themselves via daily/weekly/monthly goals to work towards.
   +Rewards can include but not limited to:
   -bits
   -exclusive emotes
   -exclusive temporary emote edit options
   -exclusive badges

   Example,
   Ads season pass goal can include:
   -Watch ten 30 seconds ads: rewards X bits
   -Shared ad revenue with X amount of channels: thumbs up emote edit option for 24 hours
   -Viewed one hundred 30 seconds ads: 1 random ad emote
   -Viewed one thousand 30 seconds or longer ads: tier 1 ads badge

   The main idea is to allow users to run ads on their own time, and give themselves an uninterrupted time to visit Twitch and view familiar or new content creators. Users understand the importance of advertising, but they do not have any control over how that is presented to them (currently being slammed with ads with every visit/refresh).
   Give users the control for ads, allow them to customize their ad experience, and even personalized ad preferences so they're more open to the idea of the product/services being shown.

   Let the ads be a positive experience for everyone, Twitch users understand games, let this be fun and profitable at the same time.

2. Ad Credit System

   Instead of having only pre-rolls and mid-rolls, I suggest including an ad credit system. Whenever people watch ads, they'll earn credits (similar to how bits used to work) and will be able to spend these credits to "skip" ads on channels they watch. This can be done in a few ways. I suggest having an ad stream where people can accumulate credits or some type of ad viewer of equivalence. This way, people would be able to accumulate as many credits as they want, to afford the price of a skip button on ads. This has absolutely no down side for viewers as there is a way to abuse the system. Should the ads be similar to a stream or video feed system, viewers could potentially afk and farm ads while doing other things or while their favorite streamer is offline. This "abuse" of the system doesn't have any downside for twitch either. In fact, the downside is towards advertisers. There's no reason to pay for ads if no one will actively watch it. People would just open a tab and switch tabs accumulating as many ad skipping points as possible. However, to avoid this, it could be coded in a way where if the tab is not open, it does not count. I know this is possible. Then what's the point? Viewers would have to watch ads regardless. No, this can be done by just leaving the window open while you do other things. Of course, those with multiple monitors would be able to abuse this but it's unavoidable. This can also be abused on the phone by leaving the ads on the phone constantly on. Any advertisers who complain about this abuse system clearly doesn't realize that they would not know in the current state whether people just walk away when ads play anyway. So their claims that this is the case would not be valid.

   All in all, a system where viewers are able to watch ads whenever they want to earn credits to use to skip ads on streams would be something to give thought. This also benefits streamers and lets them earn money through ads by just counting how many skip ads are used on their channel. This would register as a viewer watched an ad from them and they'll earn their portion. Of course, those people who do not have enough points will have to sit through the entire ad.

   I hope something like this can be implemented. I enjoy watching twitch and I must admit the amount of ads are insane. I understand their importance but there is a difference between twitch and tv. While tv specifically choose segments to cut and showcase an ad, the content is paused. On the other hand, twitch is live. Therefore, no content can be paused at all. Ads make people miss a lot and although the top right viewer feature was greatly appreciated, it definitely still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

3. Allow content creators to pay to remove ads from their channel

   Ads are presented as "supporting content creators" but there are a large number of people on Twitch who are streaming as a hobby or otherwise would prefer to pay so that their viewers can get a better experience, and for some of them the amount may be larger than the amount of revenue that the ads themselves would have brought in.

4. short regular ads

   If you could get an extension for games with lobbies that would roll a 10-15 second ad in between the games (lobby) rather than playing the regular one over the stream. Obviously, the Affiliate or Partner would have to download the ones for the games they play, if they play without the extension, or don't have it when they play the regular ad rules would apply.

5. VIEWERS need to still be able to interact with the STREAMER during the ad process, and the STREAMER needs to control how that looks.

   If interaction breaks, momentum dies. There are dozens of ways to keep the momentum flowing while an ad is playing-- just look at all of the YouTubers who get sponsored and do skits/product placement during their videos.

   Example: If the streamer has the ability to temporarily defer ads and play them back to back, ("collecting" an ad every 15 mins or so, to play 6 at the end of 1.5 hours,) this gives the streamer more control on when their intended content is interrupted-- or, even better, an option to play the ads FIRST in order to unlock SUBSTANTIAL ad-free time, with a timer to your next unlock.

   How to not break momentum during those collected ads? Don't mute the stream! The streamer hits "play" on the ads when they are ready, and the streamer can INTERACT with the viewers during the ads. This could mean picture-in-picture, or it could be a visual ad while the streamer is sound-only for commentary on that ad.

   Above all else, do not allow ads to be punishing. Make them part of the experience, and the STREAMER controls that experience.

6. Minimum payouts for ad hour targets

   If you guys used the same logic for bounty board on ads you could have a much easier time getting us to run them. I used to make hundreds a month in 2011 from ads and now despite growing etc etc I only push viewers away spamming them for MAYBE a few bucks if I'm lucky.

   Myself and many others would likely be more happy to run ads if we had a target goal of "ad hours per month" that based on our viewership could fluctuate but would generally give us a target.

   Example: Currently I stream 5ish hours a day, if you wanted 10 minutes of ads every hour and could guarentee I make even 20 bucks from the stream I would happily do it (as this would turn into 250+ revenue for the month minimum for me). As is, you will never get me to push my viewers away so I can make 5 extra dollars for the whole month.

   Give better CPM rates or make deals with us, this is the only good solution.

7. Active

   No advertisements for active chatters.

   I think that when a streamer rolls an add or the auto rolling adverts pop up it can massively drive viewers and people invested in conversation away from the channel and forum.

   A simple fix would be to not roll adverts to those actively chatting in the stream.

   Say a 5 minute timer from last recieved message then roll an ad to that user and maximum of 1 ad to said user per user. Or a quick pop up box like the channel points warning users an advert is 30 seconds from rolling. Click on it and no advert, again you can pop a limit to this before an advert is forced. Once per stream seems fair to me.

   That way your ads are rolling to passive users and it keeps your active positive contributers happy.

   I completely understand why ads are on the platform. The revenue is helpful to keep the community alive and the advertising companies have an engaged audience to promote to. Win-win business wide. But user experience is key to keeping an audience to advertise to. Strike a good compromise and balance to how invasive the advertising feels.

8. Allow interactive playable-ads in pre-roll ads and in-stream ad breaks

   So just like Facebook and WeChat allow a preview of games and ads that involve interactivity, perhaps Twitch can include support for playable ads in pre-roll ads or in-stream ad breaks.

   I am working on a project with a non-profit but we chose NOT to put our marketing on Twitch because they don't offer playable ads (unless they do and you can let me know) which previews a game and puts an interactivity component into their ads. Playable ads have been vastly successful in terms of audience reach, conversion rate and engagement not only for games, but also for brand remembrance and for other non-game products.    I thought I would create a new feature request for this reason. Let me know if you do support playable ads, in which case we would love to partner up.

10. Celebrate and gamify watching ads instead of forcing users and driving them away

    Celebrate watching ads and provide value for the viewer and the streamer instead of regulary interrupting the consumers experience with unwanted content.

    How? Here is an idea:

    Twitch already had the "Watch ads for bits" function - but it currently is quite hidden in the "get bits section". What if instead of a forced full screen ad for x amounts of seconds twitch provides "watch this ad for bits" button on screen.It should appear at random times during streams or if the streamer triggers it manually.

    There some ways to incooperate this feature with the current twitch flow: Streamer can unlock this mechanic as a "feature" to allow them to roll ads with this specific mechanic. (maybe based on stream size or other agreements with twitch)

    There are already users who watch ads for bits to support their favourite streamers. If that mechanic would be made much more public and only randomly available (without beeing able to grind it too much) the rewards for streamers can be increased making it worth for both parties (streamer and viewer) interacting with it.

    If twitch/amazon is in fear that streamers with huge communities might be able to exploit the system by using it too excessively maximum limits per day can be introduced for a stream on how many bits can be created daily through this method.

    Now as a final part: Celebrate the ad-watching-bit-farming as a streamer&user interaction! Allow streamers to include a Bit-Meter (or any other scale) that makes public how many bits the cmmunity managed to generate from "finding" the watch-ads/create bits buttons during the stream.

    If random amounts of bits are provided to the viewer for watching ads introduce a "Jackpot" ad which pops up very rarely and provides a message in chat displaying the user who got it and added bits directly to the streamers wallet. (basicly design the system like a drop system in games with recognition from the streamer as reward)

11. ADs should only be on VODs

    ADS should not be on live streams, only on VODs!

    From my understanding ADS on live will give you one of the following drawbacks, If an AD plays for 10 seconds:

    • you will be sent back to the current moment the stream is at thus losing 10 seconds of the live stream and what happened in that meantime be it a answer to your message, some epic moment or anything in between.

    • you will be 10 seconds behind with the live stream, meaning you are also 10 seconds behind interacting with the streamer

    Thus I am requesting the ADs to be kept with VODs only!

    ADS should not be on live streams, only on VODs!

12. Retargetable ads

    I've noticed that some of the on-screen advertisements located at the bottom mid section while I'm actively watching a stream are targeted towards amazon and other adverts with a purchase link available.

    I believe that adding user options to "shopping" adverts that can tailor the on-screen ads would make them feel less invasive since I'm not going to argue them being there. I don't have a stance strong enough to make that point valid.

    My suggestion, Add a section on the ad that invites users to change settings and add keywords to filter the advertisements provided to them to a certain degree or fully if the range of their keywords extend available advertisements.

    Some of the settings can be checkboxes allowing users options to opt out of certain categories possibly, prioritize their keywords , ignore their keywords,

    In the end I know advertisements are inevitable and I'm not going to debate them. I believe if the user can tailor the advertisements available to them it would provide otherwise unwarranted feedback. The overall user may be less aggressive towards such invasive advertisements if they felt like they had some control over the matter.

    The last point I want to make because it to me would make a huge impact on the amount of time spent on the platform in general... I personally wouldn't mind more advertisements if there was a popup on the actual stream similar to some of the on-screen features. The stream can be muted to a low audio or muted for the duration. I wouldn't feel like they are as invasive and I would simply look at the ad and stream in the end spending more time watching streams and ads. To anyone who took the time to read on, Appreciate you and it's merely and rough idea to play with.

13. Allow option to prevent inappropriate ads for underage children

    Can there be a setting options to remove certain type ads. I have children (who are 5 and 9) watching streams with me and these ads are not appropriate. It seems really aiming at sex-related themes (which I would associate and avoid kick.com for). I always assumed twitch is more family-friendly unlike kick.

14. Show if someone who is chatting is in an ad or not

    Give us some sort of visual feedback if a message someone put was put while the are in an ad or not, I've posted something in chat so many times just as a ad has hit only to not hear a response so I sure its happened the other way around too, This would let us easily see who is watching an ad while chatting so we could delay our response to the point where they can hear it again.

    Tie ads in with the chat so that if someone blocks ads they also have to block chat and would not be able to participate in the community unless adblockers are disabled on twitch.

16. can twitch send a message in streamers channel when ads play/end

    can twitch send a message in streamers channel when ads play/end
    it sucks not knowing when to stop talking/gaming so no one misses
    anything cause no one can hear me or see me no more and I have no idea.
    Unless someone in my channel chat is willing to tell me directly. Can we get
    a bot or message to appear in chat to let streamer know when its playing or not not everyone has more then one monitor and can see a panel or anything.

17. Advertising changes

    Hello, can you add popup little ads in the corner from xsplit or OBS not from site when twitch show ad on live we want just turn off stream or turn on adblock but twitch can do ads inside the video stream, yes that's ads be unskippable but this ads don't block stream and show the product. Sorry but this is better, obs or twitch can do ads market where all companies can sell ads directly to the streamer with a small commission for twitch or obs and this ads be 100% better cuz streamer can turn it off or enable to start earning. You can create a small advertising platform with a simple interface where ads and their conditions are displayed and each streamer can choose what to advertise
    you will control almost all ads
    even small partners will want advertising promotions and this is growth and forward movement, we know that you are the best in this.

    Hello, can you add popup little ads in the corner from xsplit or OBS not from site when twitch show ad on live we want just turn off stream or turn on adblock but twitch can do ads inside the video stream, yes that's ads be unskippable but this ads don't block stream and show the product. 18. Disable ads for all moderators

    This is a huge issue. Ads severely limit how effective we can do our jobs as mods because we can’t hear or see the streamer in a lot of cases so we lack the ability to communicate, especially when it’s a large group of ads. So Twitch, please disable ads for channel mods.

19. I think a really good idea would be to make subscriptions make that specific channel ad-free.

    It would really cool to add a feature where a viewer can subscribe to a creator and get various benefits with one being an ad-free experience. And make it work properly. Otherwise what is the point of subscribing to our favorite creators?

20. Ads for Roles:

    Make it so Broadcasters can give Ads to certain roles and or Vice Versa. Like I can make it so Followers, Viewers and Regulars can get ads BUT I can set it as VIP, Mods and the Broadcaster of their own Stream wont get ads.
