normalize Ad volume with content volume
Not as frequently as before but still often, Ads play which are dramatically louder than the broadcast content. This is an annoyance, interferes with other people in the house, and frankly makes me more likely to mute the ad and go do something in a different tab.
Normalizing volume levels with stream average volume or peak volume wouldn't take a huge amount of processing power and would fix the problem entirely. It's required by the US's FCC in other broadcast mediums, but it's really just a quality of life improvement for the viewers and a mark of good production.
A majority of ads on web and TV apps should now have normalized sound. We are still continuing the work on this and will update the status again when it is fully complete!

Ads are waay to loud. It's gonna lead to alot of young people developing hearing problems as they grow up. Show some damn responsability..

agreed im to the point that the DB volume is excessive on verge of being not good for the ears when you have to rip off your headset to avoid it . on quite a few adverts , ill tell you now i DONT WANT Dead rising 4 because of this cuz of such a painful reminder this advert brings

Ads volume level is not based on players (like, 10% stream and 100%)
Some ads cant be skipped, im okay with that. but when it suddenly screams in my headphones i guess i am forced to use adblock -

agreed this is a big issue , i dont like to use Adblock on twitch , cause it hurts both twitch and the partnered streamers i watch , but better Advert Quality control is needed . the main ad that are real bad is the Truth ads, the Dead Rising 4 ad ( WAY TOO LOUD) and the Last guardian ad to name a few that have happened to me recently that are loud and have no player control function , also a most of the adverts that have chat banner ads , break chat about 50% of the time now , i feel the banner ads should be moved to a another spot on the page .

The tobacco truth ads are the worse for this, but there are many other problem ones. They ignore the player volume set for channels.

I am not going to ever buy these things you are advertising to me so PLZ stop it or at least make them muteable or mute them automatically ! It's ruining all the fun i'm having on twitch and making me really angry !

^this. It feels like Twitch is forcing people into using adblock in order to protect their ears. I'm still resisting because I don't mind ads in general but Twitch has been completely ignorant towards the loud/unmutable ads issue for as long as I can remember. I really like my ears so I don't know how much longer I will resist.

Really there have been a few like this dead rising ad where no matter where your volume is set its blasting and not controllable these ads need to be reviewed better or at least Q&A'd espically when reported as being too loud Etc .

I have no issues with the other ads but for some reason whenever these ones come on they blow out my damn ears as a headphone user. 'Muting' them works after the initial shock, but as somebody who 'lurks' a lot, having a loud random noise come out of nowhere whenever an ad plays is frustrating.

it's illegal for cable companies to play ads that are louder than the aired shows so why is it ok for twitch to do it? Whether they can or not, it's just rude to viewers. Let me just say I don't mind ads, i like supporting twitch and the streamers but when they are so loud it wakes up other people in another room thats just unethical for twitch to do. I have repeatedly "left feedback" that the video ad is too loud and (in some cases with Gears of War 4 for example) was unable to mute. Is it too much to ask for my sound setting to be respected? Too much to ask twitch to attend to their user feedback and commit to what viewers ask in return for their time watching? Thanks Twitch, for uhh... well nothing yet unfortunately.

And this is not only issue when watching multiple streams, also its "kinda" annoying if you are trying to watch streams without alarming anyone and forget to mute windows. Which is not the proper way to do it but only possbility atm.

When I mute a stream I'm watching, I'd love for the ads to be muted as well. Some of us watch streams like SaltyBet while multitasking other things and it may require our focus on another screen, etc. and it's incredibly annoying to have the stream muted and then being blasted intrusively with an ad that is more often than not, louder than the stream volume itself.

The Volume On Commercials Automatically Blast Super Loud, even if i have my volume turned all the way down, and if I have it muted, it Un Mutes it, this is absolutely Ridiculous ! It so annoying it keeps me from watching Twitch alot of times

The Ads that you play on Twitch can occasionally be excessively loud, to the point of rushing to remove my headphones so I don't damage my ears.

you mean you mute it when you can... Not all ads will even mute! This is a bug that really needs to be worked on. If you are going to have ad's make them less obtrusive and make me want to leave a stream when i cant even mute or lower the volume of the ad. This sort of thing promotes ad blocking and we don't want that!
