Take chosen watch bitrate into account when displaying ads (Don't play ads that are high-bitrate-only when watching on a slow connection)
My internet can't handle 720p reliably. I watch at 480p all the time.
Lately I have been getting some adds that have ONLY 1080p. They can't be skipped. An they absolutely kill trying to watch any stream when this happens, because of the buffering.
The buffering on these 1080p forced ads causes them to take several minutes to complete even a 30 second add, because of the buffering. A 90 second 1080p-only add takes over ten minutes because of the drastic buffering! For a "90 second" ad, over ten minutes in reality!!! That is beyond disruptive, it's not worth watching at that point.
The instant I get an 1080p-only ad now, I leave the stream no matter how much I was enjoying it. Which is sad.
I don't know why the fact that I never watch above 480p is not taken into account when deciding what ads to show me (specifically, ads with a minimum bitrate above 480p).
Honestly, I would suggest making ALL ads have ALL bitrates available, as one sensible way of fixing this.
In any case, why should someone be punished for having slow internet by having 1080p-ONLY ads show up, when they are watching at 480p?
